I noticed that your children did sound out the words, but they knew the words as well - not just memorized things the didn't know the meaning of which would have been pointless. Thanks so much for this and saving a lot of us hundreds of dollars on other ways that don't work.

This method is fantastic. I already applied this method to my kid. She can already read maximum sentences fluently and is only 2 years and 7 months old.
I haven't been as consistent lately as in the beginning due to going back to work, but I must say this has given my 4 year old a boost from being a non reader she's top of her class. I need to get more consistent because we've let the TV encroach and I've seen a slowing of progress. I started this with my 3.5 year old when he was 3 but was also potty training and it was too much. But I'm restarting with him now. Thankfully having witnessed his sister reading its encouraged him. I show them videos of the Yang children too for encouragement. A really great programme.

In case you are new in here, Phonics teaches children to be able to listen carefully and identify the phonemes that make up each word. This helps children to learn to read words and to spell words. Nice and surprising experience. It does not seem that it can be reality if someone explained it to us, but after seeing the video in detail and seeing how these children are evolving and adapting to the method, it is perfectly feasible and apparently, not difficult to achieve this degree of learning.
