That's pure vintage 70's Slade, what a band these guys were !!

first comment: great - i'm going to stamp my mark hard! slade are STILL a criminally underrated band. simply coz they had pop hits in an era when 'serious' bands were doing concept albums etc, and played stomping, beatlemania-like gigs when 'serious' bands had spinning pianos and autherian pageants. the critical view is STILL that they were, somehow, less....
    that. is. bollocks.
they are brilliantly written songs, performed and produced to a solid standard with lots of interesting little touches if you open your ears and they are all topped off with that deathless voice. and i can assure you - it's owner is one of the nicest, most down-to-earth successful musicians that you will ever meet!
final point for now (although i'm coming back soon): their manager (a certain chas chandler) did not really need to waste his time or money on another band by the time the early 70's rolled along - as he had already been the bassist with the animals and managed the early career of a certain mr j. hendrix. chas knew talent when he saw and heard it. no doubt!

This song although superb and glorious in its raucious simplicity is "Get down and get with it" perfected , rough edges ironed out and presto ! straight in at no 1 . What the Fxxk has happened to Slade since ? Why did they let it all slip through their fingers ? Quo didnt and they are still the best band in the land , although they wernt as good as Slade . And I am the no 1 Quo fan .

I saw both Slade and Quo live, and no band ever comes close to Slade live, i loved Quo but live they were very poor, as a guitar player myself Quo were just a 3 chord bash band, and also the quietist band i have ever seen.

What on earth were those guitars? It looks like they were all bought from Woolworths! Certainly not the guitars they usually used.
