I was told on one of those boat trips that one of the first, if not THE first, explorer of the Wisconsin Dells (in the mid 1830's) was a young Lt. Jefferson Davis...the later President of the Confederacy! Believe it or not!
So glad you found our wonderful state as beautiful as we think it is. Venture on….
Thanks! It is beautiful
Finally, a RUclips rver has gone to Devil’s Lake State Park! My daughter and I tent camp every year there. You have to book early for an rv spot in the summer.it sells out early.
Yes they fill up quick. Awesome you get to enjoy it each year!
I’m 52, I have been going to the Dells since I was about 2. I love it there. The water parks are nice as well as the boat and Duck tours. But if you get off the strip and away from the hotels and water parks the Dells truly is a beautiful place. We stayed at the campground right next to witches gulch and rented a boat for 4 hours.
If anyone wants to go don’t get caught up in all the touristy things, instead plan on 2 things either the Ducks or a boat tour and a water park or similar.
Great video and channel, I think you just earned a new subscriber!
Wow! With Wisconsin Dells with its numerous theme parks and entertainment centers there will be no problem to convince my girls to join me for Wisconsin looking for the traces of my forefather Ovren Mikkelson:-) They only wanted to go to New York, Los Angeles and Florida, but with the best water world's in Wisconsin, they will understand that Wisconsin is not just a boring rural state, like Toten where we live, and where Ovren Mikkelson lived his whole life until the age of 73!
Ps! I should LOVE if you could make a stop in Cambridge, where my great-great-great-grandfather Ovren Mikkelson settled in 1871 with four kids and a ton of grandchildren:-) He and his family became metodists there, and joined the Methodist church. I had never heard about John Wesley, but thanks to my great forefather I read up on Wesley this year, and now I soon know all about Wisconsin too:-) One year ago I didn't even know where Wisconsin were, and now I'm preparing for my life's great trip there! And now you came with your fantastic videos from Wisconsin, like Manna from Heaven;-)
Camped at Devil’s Lake state park as a kid when I was 10. Hike around the lake several time ten. Returned some 25 years later after we moved to Florida with our kids. Great memories with them. Now we are retiring next year and cannot wait to do it again in our sixties. Really enjoy your weekly videos and adventures.
Yay sounds like your starting an exciting journey again!
I HIGHLY RECOMMEND USING SAND COUNTY RENTALS IN THE DELLS IF YOU WANT A GREAT COTTAGE,CABIN OR VACATION HOME INSTEAD OF A HOTEL/MOTEL... WE LOVE SAND COUNTY RENTALS!
I'm in Illinois and LOVE Wisconsin!!!!!!! Especially Devil's Lake and anywhere that has the rock formations etc.
Amazing! It's a cool state park for sure!
Memories from my childhood...great job showing this unique location!
Thank you!
Reading up on Wisconsin Dells after your visit there, I found the famous landscape photographer Henry Hamilton Bennett:-) I'll visit his museum when we go there, as I'm a passionate landscape photographer myself, and now I photograph the places of Ovren Mikkelson, to show to my relatives. I have a portfolio, but as I know RUclips doesn't like links, I'll break it:
(Wow, here the broken link was, but RUclips still spotted it and deleted the comment. Well, it's to be found in my About though.)
My youngest girl already is enthusiastic on visiting the largest water world in the entire world. I tell her the water world in Wisconsin is 100.000 times bigger than the water world here, and she LOVES bathing:-)
I see why people talk about the Dells. That standing rock on the hike looked like it had a face. The gulch was really cool. Thanks for sharing.
Yes it was super cool! The gulch was our favorite!
I am an RV RUclips addict. I have been following your channel for quite a while now. By far my favorite channel. I have a 24 ft Orion. I can't believe you don't have more than a 100,000 subscribers.
Well done!!!
Thank you! Glad you found us and enjoy our channel. We're working our way to 100K! Soon enough 🙏
It’s on my bucket list. Wisconsin is one of 11 states I haven’t been to. Great Video!
I like that outtake at the end….lol. Dennis said are you drunk?
Haha yes it's a fun state ! Hope we have you some ideas for enjoying and exploring when you come. - Liz
John Muir spent some of his formative years on fountain lake farm, a historic landmark not far east of there, he's known as the father of the national park system.
Dell Bar #1, Ishnala #2:) Love the content!!!
Thank you!
Yes! I was just in the Wisconsin Dells on a horse drawn carriage ride. It was so fun and I love that Upper Dells tour as well! You got some beautiful footage. Well Done!
Loved this!!This!!! Can't wait to go do Adult Dells!!!
Liz and Dennis, thank you for sharing your adventures with us! Be safe and keep posting!
Wow..what amazing rock formations! Very lovely there!
Yes it's a beautiful place
You guys… we have literally done everything in your video🙌🏾. We even had some Old Fashions when we went kayaking in Mirror Lake. We live in Northern Illinois so we love to head up to Wisconsin for some adventures. Can’t wait to see what you guys did in Milwaukee🙌🏾🙌🏾
Yay glad we hit the must see spots!
Beautiful area, I will have to add this to my must see list.
👍
Definitely!
THANKS you have just added something to my list of things I got to do.
Awesome!
Loved this video... we may go up to the Dells next summer. Lots of good info---and hiking ideas. 😊
I hope you do it was a super pretty area!
I’ve finally caught up to you…I’ve been binge watching over the last few days. ( I just recently found your videos.) Only sad part is, now I have to wait until next Monday to watch the next one. Love your videos. Traveling vicariously is the next best thing when you can’t actually be there. Btw, supper clubs are the best; Friday fish fries and Saturday steaks can’t be beat.
Haha you've watched all? Even all the way back to the start of Mexico? We're glad you here! I also hate when we catch up and have to wait!
❤wincousin dell 😊
I love the Dells! It's so beautiful. Plus I love all the gift shops on the strip.
I do think it would be fun for you and Dennis to do a LIVE event. That would be a nice reward for your over 50k subs!
Maybe for 75K it 100K. Lives are tough for us personally! It's in our radar though
It's like visiting friends. Just so enjoy seeing your world through your eyes- and having some valuable informations to boot. Thank you for your generosity in sharing. 💐🙏🇳🇱🙋♀️🇳🇿
Thank you for joining us each week Oma!
@@EatSeeRV The pleasure is all mine, thanks to you. 💖🙋♀️
Nice job with this video. The East and West bluff hikes at Devil's Lake are monthly hikes for me. Ishnala is a once per year special treat for us. And Tumbled Rock is a great place for beer, food, and entertainment. We go there as often as we can.
That's awesome! Good to know we hit good spots then
Glad to watch the video!
Thank you for tuning in! :)
This is a great video Liz abs Dennis. Great hikes great restaurant with cheese curds. And that drunk the original linked really good. I wish you could have sent me one through my device I was watching. It looked really beautiful there. Thank you for this great video. Have a great night and weekend and see you soon!
Always great videos!
Thank you Beth!
Fried fish, fried cheese curds and Brandy Old Fashions. So Wisconsin, and thank you for the two state parks and the HH brew pub. On my list for next May. Gotta comment on your lack of Patrons based on your viewership numbers, especially based upon your quality research and filming, but great to see your Travel Wisconsin sponsorship. Look into it when you get back to Florida to regroup. Bien Viaje! R.
Hope you enjoy them on your next trip! Yes, would love to see our Patreon community grow, but thankful for all those who continue to support us there. - Liz
Awesome! Loved the canyon hike with the tiki torches! And that one rock formation where it was left by the glacier. We are so close to this area, but don’t have the time this year before inclement weather just might be a problem. 😢
We get that, we're not the biggest fans of winter weather either.
But, I'm sure The Dells and Devil's Lake are absolutely stunning when the fall leaves are peaking!
Definitely have to put this on your return list! - Dennis
Loved the video. You guys are very down to earth. That is good
Thanks for watching, glad you enjoyed it!
Lucky 13! Some more cool spots. Enjoying seeing all of the Wisconsin sights you (at least we) don’t think about when you mention Wisconsin. Kind of like Michigan. Who knew? We were slightly disappointed. All those dells and no farmers. 😀😀🤪🤪. They even wrote a song about it. The farmer in the dell, the farmer in the dell....... You can thank me later for getting that song stuck playing in your head. 🤪😂😀😂🤪
Hahaha yes Wisconsin surprised us in so many ways! Sounds like you have some cool places to visit when you return now.
Another great video. Video quality also great. Amazing. You make me want to travel the US more and more with each Video. Thank you!
Thank you! So glad you enjoy it!
Thanks for sharing another wonderful video 🤗😁👍
Thank you for watching! We appreciate you!
Great Video!
Thanks!
Bravo Liz! You brought your A game to this VLOG. Great feedback and commentary. I felt like I was watching a entertaining show on the travel channel.
Thanks Cash STT!
I thank the dear lady doth protest too much, maybe just a little little teeny bit buzzed,, it's her beer I guess she can do with it how she wishes, I enjoyed the video oak I've always wondered about Wisconsin I drove truck through there in my truck and days but never got a chance to stop, once again thanks for putting out the video and keep up the good work
According to one of the guides on the upper Dells boat tour....one of the FIRST "explorers" to visit the Dells was a young officer in the US Army, stationed in Wisconsin: His name....Jefferson Davis! The man who would become the President of the Confederacy decades later.
Thanks for the trip down memory lane! I grew up camping on the Wisconsin River. We’d usually take a day trip to the Dells (before it was so water park-y). Yum, Old Fashioned. The only thing you missed is fudge! 🥃
That's awesome! Glad we could rekindle some old memories.
Wow that looks like picture rock in Michigan
We would go to the Dells when I was a kid before it was over commercialized and filled with water parks.
It's still worth visiting for it's natural beauty!
Nice brewery and nice place to eat pizza. Pizza looked good. How was the beer?
It’s cool when you hear the beer calling your name eh? It happens nearly every day so you really have to pay attention. Hahahahaha Nice rocks Dennis! Cheese!!!
Haha
Excited! I’m going here next weekend. Thanks for the ideas! How long is the hike at devils state park?
I think we were out there like two and a half hours maybe three. All trails app will give you a more accurate idea!
Awesome tip!
This used to be the swimming pool of the Nephilim (giants). Erosion could not create the Devils Lake phenomenon. These formations are giants stacking blocks. Water under the stabilizing rock would knock that sh*t over in less than a minute. These are precisely placed stones
Interesting. I'll googling for more info. Thanks
How long is the Devils lake hike? Looks great!
Thanks!
In and out like we did is like hour and a half to two and a half hours depending on how slow you are hiking. Round trip we can't say as we didn't get to do it. All trails app is a good reference for that!
Also….hope you get to Madison. Stay at William G. Lunney Lake Farm County Park….great bike trails into town. Not a city, a town 😍👍👍
Won't make it there this visit but cool to know. Thanks
We are in The Villages, golf? Pickleball? Come visit. Just write.
Thanks for the offer Lou!
muy bonito lugares gracias por traernos estos bonitos videos
Gracias por verlo!
Come on….the power of the cheese. The WI tourism should pay you for sure. Crazy good. Thanks for highlighting my home. Do write if you come to central Fl this winter….I make the best Old Fashions!! Stay safe
Oh thanks Lou! We'll be making our way back to Florida for winter
Wow!!! so much beauty and fun!!! can you tell me , as two 60 somthings considering RVing for the first time, are there break-ins when leaving your RV in parking lots? or at camp sites. is this a concern?do they have security at some camp sites? how do you find the safest ones? Our concern is being robbed or victemized. Thank you for answering this!!
Maybe team up with others on your first few trips. A Nomad caravan might help ease the nerves. Cheers!!!
caravan sounds like fun! But we would be solo . at least until we met some RVers to travel with.Have you heard of break-ins to RVs? I am wondering if leaving a $150,000. rig in a parking lot all day when you hike or bike....get back to find ? or worse your rig is gone.
We've never had issues or felt concerns anywhere. There are RVs everywhere expensive and not. We've found crimes are often targeted because of opportunity. Don't out yourself in opportunistic situations for theft. But it's honestly not even a concern for us. We've parked in the woods, in parking lots, in neighborhoods, and campgrounds.
@@EatSeeRV Thank you for this! I wondered .
@@EatSeeRV loved your U>P> and wisc tours!!!!!!!!
Did you go up the Potholes trail, or the easy way?
I'm not sure what was the "easy way" but I don't remember potholes trail, so I'm guessing not that way. - Liz
@@EatSeeRV The Potholes trail is a half mile of stairs straight up to Devil’s Doorway and Balance Rock. There’s three ways I believe?
Who's stopping a person from jumping that gap? Haha, and it's not that big. I'd be more scared of the landing haha.
And why is it OK for a dog?
There's no way to get up there it's blocked off. Lol I think the gap is bigger than you think and leave it to some silly over confident person to jump then fall and sue and ruin it for everyone. Lol dogs are cuter and can be more skilled! But agreed a lot of people could jump it.
@@EatSeeRV Haha, yeah, some dumb kid would attempt it for the "gram" and fall to their death.
I'm sure it would happen 🤦♀️
The dells used to be great with everything individually owned all the mom and pop unique motels on the strip then they sold out to the California entity Mt Olympus and everything went down hill all the original motels were bought up and there pools filled in with concrete is a shame it's went to shit
Lost interest, thanks for the ride.
These mortal out of shape humans are telling you that glaciers set these stones. I am the jacked super human teaching people about Giants, and somehow i am crazy.
