I saw Bob Lilly in an airport when I was in second grade. I was playing football then and knew who he was. At my dad's urging, I approached him and introduced myself. I was totally star-struck, but he treated me like *I* was the celebrity. He's a TOTAL class act.
Bob Lilly is undoubtedly the best cowboy player ever.
I met Bob Lily on July 24. He was very kind to meet and class
Mr. Cowboy.... the greatest defensive tackle in NFL history.🏈
When your nickname is "Mr. Cowboy" you should probably be # 1
Xavier Vega yeah unless number one is the man in the hat :)
I met Bob Lily in 1976 when I was working at Neiman Marcus in Dallas. He had purchased an HP25 financial calculator that was defective and he brought it in to the store. That calculator 5 inches by 3 inches and it pretty much fit in the palm of his hand. He was BIG. I just said "yes sir" and promptly got him a new one to replace it. But he was one of the nicest people you would ever want to meet.
I was born in 1989 this before my time but I love these videos I love Hall Of Famers and I love the Dallas Cowboys
He’s number one in my list
awesome pfp
I was born in 1989 never got to see him play but boy I watch his highlights and he’s a TRUE HALL OF FAMER!!!!!!! I love Bob Lily
Exactly. You watch his tape and it's surreal. This man isn't being blocked, he's pushing offensive linemen around like he's a human forklift at a warehouse transporting cargo.
If the Hall of Fame had a Hall of Fame, Lilly would be the starting defensive tackle.
He's a guy who, when he passes away (knock on wood) fans that knew him, saw him, met him, or know enough about him are going to cry. He's just a wonderful human being with nothing dislikable about him.
“Offense sells tickets, defense wins championships” Mr. Lilly you were one of the best “ever.”
At times you were the Cowboys. God Bless U man. Thanks for the memories! 🙏🤠🙏
Roger Staubach & Bob Lilly are # 1 and # 1A.
Other way around, but Roger is close 2nd IMO. If you are "Mr.Cowboy", then you should be # 1.
The greatest Dallas Cowboy of all time
Born 1957 in Dallas Bob Lilly
Has always been my #1
Dallas Cowboy . And there
Has been a lot of great players
Over the years!
Lilly at 4 is ridiculous. He is Mr. Cowboy and the greatest DT of all time, with no apologies to Merlin Olsen, Alan Page and Joe Greene. Lilly played the run better than any of them and was second to Page as a pass rusher. He faced more double and triple teams as well. Lilly and Roger Staubach are the two greatest players in Cowboys history. They are 1A and 1B, and you can make a case for either one being on top. It’s to our loss that there’s not more film of him for today’s fans to see. Lilly was larger than life good.
#74 is why I love the Cowboys!
God bless bob lily
Should be number 1
I'd have no problem if he was. But they got it right with coach landry
Landry at 1 is fine but Lilly is easily the best PLAYER in cowboys history
I would have Bob Lilly at 3. Not only was Lilly the greatest defensive tackle of all time, he was one of the original Cowboys, in fact the very first one as the video points out. Like Roger Staubach, Bob Lilly was an exemplar off-the-field as well as on the field. He has been a bulwark in the Dallas community as a great gentleman and religious leader. He is also a native Texan representing his heritage wonderfully in the public eye.
Super quick, total body control, explosive strength, farm boy strength as well.
My Dad growing up loved Bob Lilly and Roger Staubach. My Dad believes Bob Lilly was the greatest Dallas Cowboy of all.
Than your dad is correct
My favorite NFL player ever
Bob Lilly is #4? Are they crazy? He's no less than tied for #1 with Roger Staubach.
There are 2 Franchises that made perhaps the greatest first round of their first ever Draft picks of all time.
1. Baltimore Ravens in 1996 -- They Picked RAY LEWIS!!!! HOF linebacker in the first round and Jonathan Ogden - HOF lineman
2. Dallas Cowboys -- Bob Lilly -- Hall of fame lineman.
When I was in grade school, maybe 2nd or 3rd grade, I read a book about Bob Lilly. Maybe about 1975 ish. Too young to see him play, man, I wish I could have.
And he holds the Super Bowl record for the furthest helmet toss. It damn near went out of the stadium!! I grew up a Packers fan and this is THE one guy that always put the fear of GOD in you! I'm glad that he finally got his ring. He was TRULY great.
dan reeves said he never saw a guy throw a helmet that far................went about 30 plus yards
It's a good thing the packers didn't try to run at him on that qb sneak in the ice bowl, instead of Pugh
@@davidr5961That's probably exactly why Bart went where he did.
He is Mr "Cowboy"!! The longest QB sack in super bowl history!!
They made a fair argument why he should be no.1.
Best Cowboy.
He's definitely no. 1.
Also, naturally was very strong.
I remember Dan Reeves once saying, he never lifted weight s, as most players did. He simply had incredible natural strength and dominated his opponents
I'm 49 yrs old 5'11, and was a pretty good wide receiver in HS. My step brother on the other hand is a yr older than I, 6'4, and was a defensive tackle, and a nice guy off the field that turned into a monster on. I could play decent HS ball, but not being big was no where near good enough to play beyond that. My bro got a full ride to UNLY which is known more for BB, but even there the big, mostly black dudes he competed against to start were so fricking fast. Just saying that unless you played College ball you really have no idea just how strong quick and good you need to be just to be a bad player in the NFL!
What does this have to do with Bob Lily?
@@BrotherApexx He's saying if Bob Lilly is the best and guys you,'ve play with or against, and you think they're good, that just how great Bob Lilly is. I played college ball, saw speed and strength I didn't see in high school, and most college guys aren't gonna come close to riding the pine in the NFL.
My favorite #55 - Leroy Jordan
Great player, too, but Bob Lilly was the greatest at his position not only for the Cowboys, but for all teams, all time.
#4 my ass. Bob Lilly should be at #2 or #1. Anything less is disgraceful
They're gunna need to update this list in a few years #4
Bob Lily should be #2 behind Tom Landry
He was so good he didn't even have to be mean.
This statement from his Wikipedia pages confirms that - " Although the head slap was legal when he played, he never liked to use it to gain an advantage over opponents."
Bob Lilly is the number 1 Cowboy. None others come close.
#1
He does look like texas
⭐🏈⭐🏈⭐🏈
How is Michael Irvin ahead of Bob Lilly for greatest Cowboy?
Irvin should not be. Lilly is the greatest player of all time at his position and a great gentleman. Among receivers, Drew Pearson was the greatest Cowboy WR.
And another question how Michael ahead of Tony D?
#4? Tom Landry said Lilly was the greatest Cowboy he ever coached. If Landry is #1 then Lilly is #2.
Micheal Irvin right..... he looks like Texas.
He never played in 11 pro bowls despite what is said here because he did not participate in the games after the 1972 & 73 seasons. He was injured.
1. Lilly 2. Staubach 3. E.Smith 4. Aikman 5. Randy White 6. Irvin 7. Dorsett 8.Pearson 9. Waters 10. Larry Allen
Among players, I would have Drew Pearson at 3. He was the most clutch receiver of all the Cowboys and one of the best of all time on any team.
I'd honestly have him higher
What?? How can Mr. Cowboy be #4. Roger Staubach would be a close second.
Who's better... Bob Lilly or Ndamukong Suh?
He's the greatest cowboy of all time with Staubach a close second
He never collided with Gary Gubner, Ernie Pickett or Norbert Schemansky---Olympic weightlifters, he'd have bounced off them.
Bogus List if Lilly is not '1 !
He could lift 800 pounds up to chest level. He was naturally strong
With balance. You couldn’t cut him on the side or from behind. He tackled running backs like QB’s.
From a Washington Redskins fan. Lilly is too low on this list. Lilly was a better player than Irvin.
The Dallas Cowboys have two players that are considered by many to be the best to ever play their position. With all due respect to John Hannah and Joe Greene, the greatest OG in NFL history is Larry Allen and the greatest DT is Bob Lilly.
ok but I can't see any comments so I thought there were none.
Jamie&Bill Lehman k
1st ever draft choice, they didn't have one in their 1st season
Football has changed! Its sad.
Hi
I’m bob Lilly cusin
Me too!
Lilly and Manster were both fab but I thought Randy White was better.
The Cowboys have several HOFs but only an ignoramus would put anyone ahead of Bob Lilly.
The Cowboys are very overrated this year
better then Seattle
righteous VII no
+righteous VII The cowboys have a horrible defense
+Ryoji Maeda and Seattle has a horrible offense let's not forget you lost to the bucs and saints
Our offensive line is horrible everything else is amazing, we have Jimmy Graham, Doug Baldwin, Russell Wilson, CJ Prosise (who is injured now) Tyler Lockett and Tanner Mcevoy (Best QB/WR ever lol) and lets not forget we won against the patriots and falcons.
Dude looks like he never hit the gym before...he'd probably get destroyed by a practice squad LT in this era's NFL
Marco Clarke Randy White better
Yea you are fucking stupid LMAO
Yeah, he is fucking stupid. Loved the Manster, but Bob Lilly was nasty.
you're dumb
I don't know if you know this... but his bio at TCU included him being able to flip a car so...
