My grandparents weren’t Amish but they sure lived like them lol. My grandmother still didn’t have electricity in the 1980s!! In fact she never had electricity in her house. She didn’t have to live with electricity until she got to old to life alone and had to move in with a family member. My grandpa died in 1965 but he never had a tractor on the farm. He used a team of horses until the day he died. Sometimes I think that kind of life is very fulfilling. Time is much slower unlike today’s fast moving world. Time goes so fast in modern society that we sit in awe wondering where it all went! For my grandparents and Amish time moves at 5 miles per hour. Must be nice because I wish I had all my time back again
I m very much excited by amish culture specifically when it comes to modern world , it's a me zing how these people wl manage out side their world n I appreciate their religious balance between namely Christians n real Christians may God bless amish n outer world
I am of German desent, 1/2. German, welsch and scott is what I’m told. I’ve been learning all I can on the Amish, mennnite and Hudderite communities. I live simply according to the general population. No tv, dress conservative, I would like to know if western folk ever are ever grafted into their communities. I was a teacher for 26 yrs and have been a carpenter for the last 16 yrs. so I have skills that align with their culture. I am a born again Christian and believe you confess your sins and then are baptized. My children are grown and on their own. I would like to return to teaching and would like to teach in the “set apart” communities of Gods children. Any info out there is appreciated.
I love Amish people, because they are true religious and they like to work in the farm, even their busy the have time to study a word of GOD the HOLY BIBLE,and going to church regularly. They are peaceful, loving ,and helpful to one another.
Kristine: Amish do not study the Bible because they do NOT have a Bible in the English language.......their Bible is in old German and they cannot read that dialect in the present day. Secondly, they do not go to "church" as you say. Every two weeks a service is held at a member home and other members come to that home for a service. The only thing the Amish "study" is the "Ordnung" which is an unwritten list of rules that each Amish must keep strictly in order to remain a member of the Amish community. So, when you get right down to what the Amish care about, it amounts to a manmade list of rules that they believe gives them a chance of gaining favor with diety. Lastly, Amish do not claim to have salvation or favor with diety......they say they can only hope by doing their works that they can achieve that status.
I love Amish life..except when I think in not having a washer and dryer for my clothes...and also warm water for a shower...sounds :) but it comes to my mind.
I had always heard that, according to the Amish, if you leave their religious community and church, you are going to hell. This man says they do not claim that, but why would they say this when their people, particularly the young people, leave and are shunned by them? I suppose one would just have to ask the Amish themselves.
i have actually asked about this exact thing and the answer is that they believe their chances of getting to heaven are lowered when they throw themselves into temptation. it's not that they think you are doomed when you leave, but really if you think about it the risk of turning away from God is much higher if you don't focus your entire life on Him. the verses that they get shunning from are 1 Corinthians 5:11 and Romans 16:17.
I was Amish and a member of there church, got excommunicated for joining the Mennonite church and yes you heard right, this guy might be educated but he doesn't know the half of it, they only have hope, not believing that you can know the you are saved, my Jesus is greater than that..............
hotrod61375 - the living hope concept of salvation makes sense, until one hears Jesus say on Judgement Day, "enter my true and trusted servant", one cannot know without doubt that one is saved. Matt 7:21-23 comes to mind. I meet these modern "Christians" who are running around claiming they are born again and saved, but lets be honest, they are following worldly secular standards and not biblical standards. Women immodestly dressed without headcoverings, involved in worldliness, concerned about worldly success and fame, from a biblical perspective they don't even qualify as Christians, let alone saved Christians. 2John 1:9, James 4:4. If anyone thinks that Jesus who said 'not My will but Thy will be done', would permit His followers to ignore and disobey His Father's commandments, such as headcoverings, modest dress, non-resistance, etc. then such people are following a jesus of their own imagination and not Jesus of the Bible. If they were following Jesus of the Bible, they would look more like Amish and less like Hollywood.
From what I know & what I've read about the Amish - they believe that it's important for an Amish-born person to remain Amish & within the Amish church, in order to have "hope" & go to heaven (there is a particular Bible verse they rely on for this - but I cannot remember what it is). But for those not born into the Amish community - for example, Christians born outside of the Amish community - as long as they are practising Christians, Amish people believe they can still have "hope" & go to heaven.
The Bible also indicates that what is important in people is that which is "inside" a person & in their heart - more so than things which are on the outside of a person - like the way they might dress, or the foods they might eat, etc.
Praise God and honor Him each Sabbath in worship. Ecclesiastes 12:13 Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear God, and keep his commandments: for this is the whole duty of man. Revelation 14:12 Here is the patience of the saints; here are those who keep the commandments of God and the faith of Jesus. Exodus 20:8 “Remember the (7th day, Saturday) Sabbath day, to keep it holy. 9 Six days you shall labor and do all your work, 10 but the seventh day is the Sabbath of the Lord your God. In it you shall do no work: you, nor your son, nor your daughter, nor your male servant, nor your female servant, nor your cattle, nor your stranger who is within your gates. 11 For in six days the Lord made the heavens and the earth, the sea, and all that is in them, and rested the seventh day. Therefore the Lord blessed the Sabbath day and hallowed it. Not on Sunday the first day. Honor the Creator of the Sabbath which falls on Saturday of each week.
They don't have to be Amish in order to be saved and following Christ. In fact, its just another "work your way to Heaven" religion. Two very important things we should know, is that they don't live their lives by the scriptures, but by an ordinance document made by the local elders. The Bible doesn't even need to be brought to services. They also don't share the gospel as Christ commissioned. Many Amish are realizing all they need is the Bible, and they are being saved by what they read (born-again) and leaving the Amish Community to live in the freedom that Christ gives. Do the research.
Wow...... a professor who is not a secular humanist, politically correct, socialist.
I like this guy. Excellent summary of the Amish and Mennonites.

Agree with you. Amish people respect God. And they’re not lazy people.
So strong in their convictions
This is a great video and none basis. I like it.

A true denomination of Christianity trust in Christ and Christ alone for salvation I believe Christ is the son of God and that's that
I refused to watch the shows because they did misrepresent the Amish.
If you didn’t watch them then how would you know that?
@@acidheadzzz You see one you've seen them all.
