"...of the Third Age"

Wait! No! I'm not ready! Hillary Clinton is gonna regain the One Ring!
You have to lay off the opiods friend
Haha read this as he said it..
"Murders! Traitors! You would call upon them to fight?! They believe in nothing! They answer to no one!"
"They will answer to the King of Gondor!"
They are oat breakers
I still get chills at the scene, it was very well done, especially with the music as Elrond reveals Andúril.
@@bitchass8411 Oat breakers? Dangerous thing to do, breaking oats. Rolled oats are just as dangerous. Remember that next time you make a bowl of porridge.
@@paulstandeven8572 terrible things, oats, be sure to be on guard when eating them
Nah, but they will respond to oates.
Fun fact: In the movies the ghost army is modeled after the old knights of the 11th century like the Normans in the books they seem to be based off of the Scottish highlanders and Celtic warriors.
I still hate the way the Battle of Pelannor field was in the movie version of The Return of the Kings. If it was like the book version, it would have been a lot better! (A lack of time and money was problably the reason why they changed it) It almost ruined the whole Movie for me.
I was wondering why those Spears and glaves looked familiar.
@@danielolsson7134 What makes it better in the book? The lack of forces?
@@Armageist This explains it better then I ever could: lotr.fandom.com/wiki/Battle_of_the_Pelennor_Fields
@@Armageist Aragorn frees the ghosts at Pelargir and gains a massive army of living humans which includes more men who were slaves on the ships and thousands of men from the southern fiefs ,led by Angbor, the one man who stood fearless in front of the ghosts when everyone ran.
Aragorn sails north in the Corsair ships, when he is spotted the Gondorians ring the bells in horror and Eomer prepares to fight the Corsairs to the death, lining up by the river. Suddenly Aragorn unfurls his flag and everyone is uplifted.
The Orcs and Men on Sauron's side are shocked to see the men of the southern fiefs , becoming enveloped themselves. Aragorn and Eomer fight their way to each other, happy and filled with battle spirit. Aragorn's attack wipes out the entire Mordor host and ensures Minas Tirith is secure. Angbor arrives later with 4000 more men to garrison Minas Tirith as Aragorn plans his march on Mordor.
The power of oats is great indeed :D great stuff man
The power of oats is a cereal matter, not to be underestimated.
Blair Holmgren cough cough Maedhros
@@GeekZoneMT Do not meddle in the affairs of cereal, for it makes them soggy in milk.
They sure gave them their oats. As the saying goes.
Part of this nutritious breakfast
"Elves, immortal, wisest and fairest of all beings"
legolas: (immediately fires arrow at ghost's head as soon as it appears)
never trust an elf
Hahaha
Whenever a translucent ghostly being appears with a terrifying stare and armed with ghost weapons... I'd say shooting it would be a wise first impulse.
It certainly isn't there to offer tea and cakes.
Legoland"yeah i kinda drop the ball there"
He only sent the arrow off when the King said "and now you will die".
You understand he never does anything proactive, it was always reactive. Elves are kinda dumb that way.
Was watching this while eating my oatmeal.
Spooky...
I swear I'm never gonna break my oats.
Oats can be very fulfilling, especially with honey and milk. ;)
Wouldn't they have already been broken down and grounded up, though, if they where in the form of oatmeal?
(And yes, I'm joking)
" an elf will go underground, where a dwarf dare not?.....arrrgghhh I'd never hear the end of it!"
Considering Elves lived in caves before, including Legolas himself that is not that surprising
Interesting to note: In cursing the men of the mountain, Isildur was not careful choosing his words. For he prophesied a doom upon his house, the realm of men, and upon Middle Earth, by proclaiming the battle with Sauron would last for an age. He simply should have stopped at, "You are cursed to not live or die until you fulfill your oaths in helping me destroy Sauron". That alone should have driven them to his side immediately. I grew up believing words took form, due to my religious upbringing. I know many spiritual movements also teach this. If you are going to curse someone, or bless them, make your words bright and concise. Or you may spend an age watching your line fail to the detriment of all who trust in them (and you).
Wow! I never thought of it that way.
I love yhat you showed a bowl of oats to make fun of yourself, self realization of odd sounds is awesome
Nice to have you back, excellent presentation.
Thanks Robert!
15:25 he's becoming self aware! He knows he has an accent
This made me chuckle!
Karl, for those of us who are not students of Middle Earth, who love the books (and the films) but haven't read them in full since we were much younger, the full picture you paint is just invaluable! Many thanks!!!!
Well, I gotta make more oats then. XD 15:22
POWERRR!
The power of oats compels you! Good to see an update from you, man. 😊
Take Oats Cerealy!
I don't know if this has been mentioned, but remember Elrohir and Elladan are not full blooded elves, they are half-elves that have, as of yet, not chosen whether to remain as mortal to leave as immortal elves. Therefore I would say that they would in fact feel the same dread that any mortal would at the Paths of the Dead.
Could you make a video about the wargs/wargriders.
That would make an interesting video if there is enough information about them.
OP well done.
Yay! You have returned! Amazing video as always. I love listening to these videos while I work or do other things.
Thanks! I'm glad I can help somehow ;)
Welcome back man, LOVE your content!
Thanks Mateo, hope you enjoyed this video also ;)
I have always been interested in these guys, and I really wish Tolkien had gone into more details about them in the books. They were amazing on screen too. Great topic for a video, and I look forward to your next one!
So glad you're back! Excellent work, as always :)
Great to have you back!!!
Great to be back!
Kind of makes me wonder what happens to the path of the dead after their oaths are fulfilled.
Did men ever visit those caves again? Seems like they ought to have been able to be safely be explored by people once the living dead were released.
I wondered that too. But I don't think they would ever be able to be reclaimed. They had become evil, with the temples to Sauron etc. Even without the ghosts themselves, they would not be safe. As Gandalf says regarding Moria, "There are older and fouler things than Orcs in the deep places of the world." Things like Shelob and other dark creatures would be attracted to such a place too.
The Paths are truly unknown to most people, who would take the road outside along Gondor's western fiefs. In the words of Rawrist, DO NOT GO.
To bad tho that nobody ever went back, would love to see if the place contained any sort of treasure or mystical items.
@@christopherruss5899 Magic started to disappear in Middle Earth after Sauron's demise and with the departure of Gandalf and the Elves. The caves may have drawn wild animals but there wouldn't be any ghosts or beasts around anymore.
Maan I wish you had more videos, I can listen to you all day but I've already seen all your videos. Love to see you post again!
Glad to see you making videos again. Awesome stuff.
Didn't see the oats clip coming. XD
Like quite a few others, I've been excited to view your content. It just got put in my recommended videos and I've been hooked since. This all has given me quite a bit more insight to the stories around middle Earth as to distance myself from what i merely knew as stories of Lord of the rings and the Hobbit. Very awesome, will keep up to date.
WELCOME BACK!!! I missed watching your videos with a cup of tea! Hope everything IRL is settling down for you :D. Great video as always!
Thanks Melissa, I'm glad it wan't uploaded too late for tea ;)
@@GeekZoneMT Not just tea. I was listening to it whilst working on the next episode of my comic :D
oh that reminds me, I gotta check them out!
GeekZone yes you do!! Hopefully I will be uploading the next one sometime this week :D
Welcome back. Amazing content. Well done
I was worried for a time there. Great to have you back and thanks for a brilliant upload.
Thanks buddy, great to be back :)
Glad to see you're still doing the lore vids! :)
Ofcourse, I won't stop! :)
Great work once again sir. Well done. 👏💯
Thank you! Excellent video! Most satisfying because you follow the books as well as the movie. I am now a new subscriber and will look forward to more lore,
Excellent video as always. Definitely worth the wait. Keep it up, lad!
Cheers!
there must always be... a Lich King.
... oh wait, wrong lore
Lol
Lmao
Frostmourne hungers...Wait, wrong sword, it should be Andúril, Flame of the West...
Sauron is a lich, the Nazgul sort of.
Great video man! Good to see you back!
Thanks buddy!
Finally you are back!! Awesome video dude. I learned something 😁
Cheers Rick! What was new? :)
I knew roughly how this story was but not exactly
Very well done! Your research is thorough and your presentation very easy to follow and understand. I hope you might someday have the time and inclination to offer your thoughts and research on the Sea of Rhûn; I always found that huge, inland (freshwater?) sea very interesting to contemplate the people and cultures that might have grown around it.
Thank god you are back! Great video!!!
Thanks buddy! :)
you really were and are and probably ever shall be one of the greats for this upside-down accursed age of Tolkien videos.
thanks dude.
thanks man, I'll soon be back😁
It's so great to see ya back, Geek!!! I hope you had a nice break from RUclips, and your return was really strong with this video! :)
I honestly find The Army of The Dead (from Tolkien's works so not not to be confused with The Army of The Dead from ASOIAF aka GoT by GRRM lol), to be one of the most mysterious, horrifying and most intriguing aspects of the Legendarium. And there history is really facanating to me (which was explained perfectly in this video!). Ya know, I love the way that The Army itself was adapted into film by Peter Jackson, but I find it to be such a let down and missed opportunity that he didn't include that amazing scene from the books in regards to The Stone of Erich and the summoning of The Army there itself (though I am still satisfied with the way we had it in TROTK film, but still). But that is just me. I cannot wait to see more! :)
Yeah it would have been awesome to include it, though runtime would have been a problem and it would have required a lot of explaining :(. The youtube break was horrible though, I hate being away. I'd be dying to make content hut time wouldn't really permit it :(
@@GeekZoneMT I quite agree! :)
Though I do find it quite understandable why you hated your time away, and it's a shame that you were so busy. But you have come back now at the turn of the tide (Gandalf reference strongly intended), and I cannot wait to see more of your masterpiece worth of videos! :)
Thanks Luke, I appreciate it buddy :)

Thanks Alana :) I appreciate it!
great video Geek!
15:25 don't think I didn't notice that self deprication. That earned my subscribe.
Good job bud, very in depth
Good to see you back, great video. I liked your theory that they may have waited to kill Baldor when he reached the door of the temple, as if they still wanted their secrets to be hidden
Thanks John. It's odd that they only broke his legs though instead of killing him. Quite malicious.
Thanks for the great video!
Looool I about died of laughter at 15:25. I appreciate your channel’s content.
Loved it thanks! I was wondering if you happened to have done a video on the fourth age of middle earth?
Great video, as usual. And that oats pic, lol! Hilarious!
Haha thanks Dave, I try ;)
godamn I love these videos, i'm gonna binge watch the shit out of this whole channel. I didnt get into the books yet but this helps a lot to flesh out what We've seen in the movie, and correct a lot of thibgs that were chsbged too. keep it up its amazing
Great video as always. I like how you called out the importance of oaths (not oats 😂) in Tolkien’s world. The best example of the power and unbreakable nature of an oath is the oath sworn by Feanor and his sons to reclaim the Silmarils from Morgoth at all costs, even if it meant committing terrible atrocities.
Your videos are top-notch 100%!! I can't think of anything I would do to improve or even gripe about! Even the accent makes it kind of comical sometimes and I enjoy listening to everything to say the least thank you
Excellent. Very detailed. Thanks.
Cheers Keith, glad you enjoyed it! :)
Good video, thanks
There is great power in oaths, just take a look at Feanor's curse.
Bro! Awesome video!!! 😎
Always wanted the Lore behind this!! Thankyou :)
I hope it was enough ;)
@@GeekZoneMT It Was, I had always wondered who they were
Excellent video. welcome back.
I was wondering if the 'army of the dead' fear factor have caused Baldor to injure himself as it made the Corsairs flee their boats and drown.
Ah, Welcome back my old friend. Never have you let us down at all.. This was a wonderful video btw.
Thanks James! I'm glad you enjoyed it buddy. :)
It’s always a good day when you’re back!
Thanks Jared, many good days to follow! ;)
Close to 50k, you're gonna become one of the biggest channels in Malta :D
I find it interesting that Legolas had no fear or paid any mind to the dead army considering the amount of damage they were capable of and how amazingly fast they could dish it out. Maybe the dead of humans can’t harm an elf. Could this be because they share some kind of spirit with the deity of JRRT’s legend???
Excellent video again
Interesting discussion, it's good to have you back. My perception has always been that the oath is enforced by whatever it's sworn on, so Gollum could not break an oath backed by the power of the Ring; likewise having sworn by Eru and named Manwe and Varda as witnesses Feanor and his sons were bound beyond any release. We don't know much about the stone of Erech but perhaps it also held the power to bind and enforce?
The pic of a bowl of oats was very funny :) Great video.
Yeeeeessss our beloved RUclipsr is back with a new vedio :D
Great Video dude! Currently reading FOTR. Keep it up!
Cheers mate! What chapter are you on? :) And is it your first time?

So long we waited our great wizards return..and now he has blessed us with HQ content once again
A Wizard is never late nor is he early, he arrives precisely when he needs to!😂
i almost spit out my water when the image of oats came up!
Something you didn't point out is how the book describes the Army of the Dead as being surrounded by darkness even in full daylight. It was as though they actually absorbed and removed light wherever they went. There was none of this "glowing body" nonsense which you see in the game and the films. As far as I remember, only their glowing red eyes cast any light at all and then only enough for outsiders to observe, not enough to illuminate the darkness surrounding them.
Basically, you could see where they were not because they were illuminated, but because of the lack of illumination where they were. Now *that* is scary!
Lol the oats pic! Excellent discussion.
5 videos in all very interesting thanks
Great video!
Lol oats 🤨😅
Finally! Missed these lore videos
