It would be cool if they will make a series about Varian as the main character since he's pretty much every watchers' favorite character and I would like to get to know his mom a bit more since they never actually brought her up other than a family portrait. But even if they don't, I'll still love the character and have fan-fiction to fill in the blanks for us.

Mainly cause it wasn't about Rapunzel and Varian being a side character in tangled so Disney doesn't think anyone would watch it. It's like, have you've not seen the fandom disney, he's a fan favorite. If Disney wants money they need to start feeding the fandom. I mean you look at a show like My little pony who got more popular and the studios Hasbro, DHX, got more money just by feeding the fandom a bit, even going so far as to make fun of it as well(in a respectful way)

I heard that this isn't going to get made because Rapunzel is the face of the franchise. So, in conclusion (as season 1 Varian would have put it) "it's her fault."
Hopefully we can convince Disney to reconsider doing it. Cause seriously they need to wake up and see that this story and Varian in general will make them a bunch of money!(most likely more then the stupid live action remakes!)

Varian sets off on a quest with his mom's notebook/journal (she was also a science nerd). He travels to all the seven kingdoms since they each seem to have a totem. He befriends Yong, whom is interested in explosives, princess Nuru, she's the navigator, and Hugo, who is actually a double agent. This was an idea by Kait Kritter. She worked on the Tangled series. She tried to get Disney to make this show but they rejected the idea thinking no one would watch it. Please go to caroline lutz's channel where there is a link to a petition to change Disney's mind.

Toward the end of the series, Varian's mom was supposed to possess Varian in an attempt to escape the Eternal Library, since she can't do it on her own.
