This should be a PSA for all gas-powered mower manufacturers. Bring your A-game especially with one lever height adjust. It's 2020 and that's not asking a lot of MTD, Honda, etc.
My new gas powered, rear drive, Craftsman 23", has one height adjuster for front, and one for the rear. So at least it's better than the old style at all four corners.
It’s mostly only Americans who still have 4 wheel adjustment. Had single lever height adjustment in Oz your decades. Except some Honda’s but that’s just Honda.
BYD, I bought this lawnmower in January of 2020 when I purchased my new house. I love my greenworks battery operated mower. You give amazing reviews and information on products. Oh wow, I have never used the side discharge or mulching thingy. Let me finish watching your video. Btw...the cupholder idea is genius!
Excellent overview BYD! I have been super impressed with Greenworks over the years as I have seen them improve each year I attend the GIE Expo. They really are the leaders in battery tech for professionals. Last year they had a giant battery bank on display that you could even use to charge your Tesla right along with your fleet of zero turns. You have to get to GIE this year! Bring BYD Jr too - he would love it.
@Mr. RDCS I got the Kobalt 80v Max. 2 years ago, it was one of the most powerful battery lawn mowers available. It has a brushless mower which makes a huge difference in battery life and power. It is still going strong

I got one as a backup and have been using it almost daily to blow driveways and sidewalks. And I'm talking about piles of wood chips from under my chipper to mounds of wet chai saw dust and debris. Loving the videos man! Keep up the good work you're doing!

My wife and neighbors appreciate the sound volume, everyone says the zero turn sounds like a loud fan. This allows me to cut earlier or later without disturbing everyone.
I have one. Paid $360 plus Tax out the door at Lowes on sale. Did my first cut on 7 inch Zoysia grass on level 4. In one pass had 3 or 4 retouch spots. Not bad at all. Ease of control and Power are on par if not better than my old Toro.
Good video. I wish I had seen this before I got mine. FYI, Lowes now has it for $399. And you can get the blower and trimmer combo for $199. The combo comes with a 4 ah battery!!

I've been eyeing the ego as well. Since I've bought the weed eater and blower. So I have 2 batteries. My yard isn't that big so I think it'll be perfect. My baby momma bought a greeworks 2 years ago and it's double bladed and loved it. I decided to go battery way because of the maintenance free. I can just pull that trigger and go.
Thanks for the video I also bought one week ago I am not sure if we can power directly to port between batteries(orange bit) when battery runs out Can we do that ?
I made the switch last year and got the Ego push mower with the 5.0 AH battery. I live just north of New York City and have about 5000 square feet of lawn and it cuts that with no problems and it still has some battery power left. But the one issue I found with the Ego is that the lift or suction isn't great so you cannot cut high with it because it ends up matting down the grass and then you issues in the areas that get matted down. I purchased the high lift blade and that helped but not that much so I'd say don't go with the Ego. How is this Greenworks with lift when you cut higher and does it matt the grass down?
Robert Balboa after reading your post I got off the highway and headed to Lowe’s. Yep, you are right, I got 50 bucks back 💰, thanks Robert 👍🏾. If you can where a 2x shirt, I’ll send you my last one ☝🏾
@@BYDonBermudaGrassCentral I purchased this mower for $399 plus an additional 5% off for using Lowe's card. It's ready for pickup, but having second thoughts cause I don't have a big yard & don't need the self-propelled. Can it be used without engaging the self-propelled? I recently purchased ($250) a Kobalt 40v w/5 ah battery and it works just fine, in fact I still had three bars on battery when I was done. But, I'm still within the return period. Your feedback will be greatly appreciated it.
To be honest as a lawncare guy its gonna be a while before i consider making the switch to electric equipment. Thats not a bad looking machine though. Good vid brotha
Great review but I will stick with my gas mower till a new battery technology is found. Today's batteries takes way too long to charge, dies quick and very expensive to replace. This one of the reasons I will not buy an electric car either. The easy adjustments hight and the lights are features we need on our gas mower badly.
Excellent review. Are the handle bars tight or are they wobbly with a lot of play? I hear a lot of creaking and rattling from this mower. What's the build quality like? I am deciding between this mower and an EGO and the EGO, although ugly, is very tight and there is no play in the handle bars.
Great review !!! You covered all the things I wanted to find out - especially about how long the batteries last. Could you advise how long the 5.0Amp battery takes to charge as I have heard different reports.
It takes over an hour. ChRges faster in cooler temps though. This is why I’d get a couple of batteries 🔋, me personally I have 3 of the five amps batteries 🔋 but they are expensive at 199, still cheaper than ego at 300-350 at battery.
@@BYDonBermudaGrassCentral Thanks for the quick reply :) An hour's charging time is fine and yes I would get 3 x 5 amp batteries as well. Now that you have had it for a while are you still happy with its performance. How does it go through longer grass - say up to 1 foot high - I am deciding between the 60 and 80 volt versions?
@@penfex if your trying to cut 12 inch tall grass this probably not the mower die you. Max cut HOC IS 4 inches. Anything over 6 it will struggle and battery 🔋 life will be severely shorten.
I just bought a house recently in this insane market and need a mower. I haven't used a gas push mower since I was a teen, but wanted an electric one for my 1/4 acre lawn. Everything is so expensive right now, but saw a sale for the greenworks 20" 48V, with dual 24v 4ah batteries for $260. That seems like the best value for similar specs in early 2022, but I hope it has enough run time. Does side discharge easily throw rocks? How's it holding up after 2 yrs?
The one in the video is a 21 inch 60 volt Pro. I had a follower that has the one your talking about it and he loves it. Not sure 🤔 if he side discharges though. He on his second season. With a dual battery 🔋 system once one dies, put it on the charger while cutting with other battery 👍🏾
@@BYDonBermudaGrassCentral Ah OK that sounds promising. It actually uses both 24v batteries to equal 48v to run, so I'd need to purchase another set. I'll have to see how well it does in the thick grass of my smallish lawn.
Hey BYD, I bought that same mower about 3 weeks ago. I took it back and returned it a week later. The battery took about 1.5 hrs. to charge and 30 mins. to die. Good luck Bro!!! Take my advice and take it back before 30 days and get your money back.
Michael Murphy most of these battery mowers won’t put out the minutes they say under a load. We didn’t test test this one but we did get about 42 mins on the 5 amp and about 18 on the two.

Hey BYD when should I throw down my Milo as far as getting my fertilizer down or should I start with 10-10-10 or should I start with Miracle-Gro with the sprayer or do you have something else I should use I live in Virginia Beach and the weather is getting warm here in the 70s 80s past few days
RonTech34 I love “Expert Gardner Weed and Feed” from Walmart with plenty of water. Make sure to water plenty for a couple of days. I live in zone 5b and have Kentucky bluegrass lawn, this product is wonderful.
Mr. RDCS it’s still my number one mower. As for cutting a wet lawn, I’ve never cut the lawn wet especially since this is a ln electric ⚡️ mower. That may be one con.😀
Mr. RDCS I like the Greenworks dual battery better. The Ego is awesome but dose not cut good on an uneven BermudaGrass lawn on low heights because the mower is super light. The Greenworks has a steel deck and weighs more. We still use the ego but it’s not the mower I use for now when I do videos.
My issue with cordless is the benefit relates to the amount of time you can use it, when you first get it you can probably get through your lawns without stalling and re-charging. After about a year that experience changes, and it’s not like you can just pour more gas in it and keep going, you need another battery. Those batteries aren’t cheap and the engine is not very powerful so you can’t cut a lot of grass, especially if it’s wet. I’ve gone through about 4 of them in 12 years, my current one cost me about $400, it was commercial grade, but every time I try to get the replacement battery I can’t find it online and can’t get it at a store. When you do find it, if you can get the right one it’s going to cost you 50% of the new mower at your store. This is the problem, you have these mowers for 2 years, and you can maintain them very well so you just deal with it for another year or 2 and maybe sharpen the blades, replace the starter or whatever. Then you are like… why am I investing in something that I can replace for $300-$400? My replacement battery is $150, let’s say I bought 2 of them, that’s a new lawnmower. So if you are going to do that why not buy a gas mower, $500, gas will cost me about $5 per month, oil will cost me about $10 per year and maybe I have to replace the spark plug and air filter every couple years or so. Let’s say I get 10 years out of that, what’s that? $500+ 50 per year, so $1,000 over 10 years compared to buying about 3 of these cordless mowers in that same time and dealing with the stalling, having to mow the lawns 4-5 hours apart as I wait for it to charge up, starting problems, etc. Not to mention you need multiple cuts if your grass is high because the engines are not built to do thick grass in one cut like a Honda or Toro can.
Well I got to be honest with you. The ego eco system is just vastly superior. Here is the thing. The mower and battery is expensive but when you need a chainsaw, snow blower, hedge trimmer, trimmer, blower etc ego has it all and has kept their platform the same. Greenworks has been all over the board. They have discontinued and changed voltage lines. However, ego has remained. If I were you I would get the ego and take this back. Egos batteries last and are proven. Just a thought. (I have been using ego for almost 4 years.
I am returning my Ego Select Cut mower - the battery only lasts 25 mins and it clogs up and stalls frequently. However, their hedge trimmer and line edger are great !
@@penfex I mean even for the price it is just too expensive. I have like 6 batteries or so that I bought years ago on ebay. So I saved a ton and still love them. I am pretty sure their customer service is almost non existent though.
Henry Alford heck yes, used it again today. I’ve used it 4 times since 4-11-20 today is 4-22-20. Price also dropped to 399 today. But that extra battery 🔋 is 199.

My baby momma bought a greeworks 2 years ago and it's double bladed and loved it. I decided to go battery way because of the maintenance free. I can just pull that trigger and go.
Very good review BYD!
I'm thinking about moving over too
Thanks for the video
I also bought one week ago
I am not sure if we can power directly to port between batteries(orange bit) when battery runs out
Can we do that ?
bao an Dao not sure what that is but this mowers switches over to other battery 🔋 when the first one is almost drained.
Made the switch last season. Not going back!
CupHolder? It depends on time of the year. March thru Early May - Bottled Water. Mid May thru First Sept - Powerade. Fall Leaf chop - Crown & 7-Up
Lance Lenoir I’d have either Gatorade G2, frozen spring water or Mountain Dew 👍🏾
Great review
Awesome video again
It just was reduced today, Wednesday April 22nd to $399. You should be able to get a $50 credit if you purchased it within past 30 days for $449.
Was it a good investment ? Thinking of a battery lawn mower.
I love this mower but the battery cost adds up.
To be honest as a lawncare guy its gonna be a while before i consider making the switch to electric equipment. Thats not a bad looking machine though. Good vid brotha
I agree, this mainly for the home owner, and you’re right, this mower is pretty sharp 👍🏾
@@BYDonBermudaGrassCentral awesome video still. Much appreciated brother. Not a bad little mower at all
Great video.
Build quality is good but the ego is better.
I have the Ryobi 40v mower blower eater edger everything never going back to gas
How is it holding up, I heard that it's not as good as the other brands?
@@BYDonBermudaGrassCentral OK thanks - good advice :)
Why would u wanna side mount discharge
How well does it cut Bermuda grass?
It cuts good 👍🏾
Special price of $399 until tomorrow. Get it adjusted at Lowes.
Right on par with the ego products. almost...
I like my gas rider. I have a lot of grass to cut so I need it lol
They have Electric riders also
RonTech34 I know. They don’t make a battery big enough to mow my massive yard lol
@@dronetex6236 look into the Ryobi zero turn battery lawn mower
Do you have the option to turn the lights on and off?
Not option to turn off lights. Since they are L E D they use very little power.
I bought it for my small business to save money on gas and maintenance. I guess it's more on a homeowner's level. Love your channel bro... You have taught me a lot about Bermuda Grass... 👍💪
Hey BYD when should I throw down my Milo as far as getting my fertilizer down or should I start with 10-10-10 or should I start with Miracle-Gro with the sprayer or do you have something else I should use I live in Virginia Beach and the weather is getting warm here in the 70s 80s past few days
RonTech34 your first application if no weeds should be a 24-0-11 end of April or 1st of May then watch this. ruclips.net/video/dSUcMHY1rDQ/видео.html
RonTech34 I love “Expert Gardner Weed and Feed” from Walmart with plenty of water. Make sure to water plenty for a couple of days. I live in zone 5b and have Kentucky bluegrass lawn, this product is wonderful.
Nice review... Whats the purpose of the led lights?
Shawn Savage what red lights are you referring to.
One more positive. You don’t have to start the gas motor which hates the gasoline we have today.
Is it still preforming good I just got a brand new one for 170$ I think I done a good deal on it I like it so far but not got to use it that much yet
It’s my go two mower. I use it about 60 percent of the time when mowing my own lawn.
Me to I still have mine it’s just like when I bought it But I do wish I had a nother battery for it
How is it holding up, and how does it do on wet grass?
Mr. RDCS it’s still my number one mower. As for cutting a wet lawn, I’ve never cut the lawn wet especially since this is a ln electric ⚡️ mower. That may be one con.😀
@@BYDonBermudaGrassCentral Thanks for responding. Has it ever been cut damp?
I see that you have an Ego as well, which one do you like better?
@@BYDonBermudaGrassCentral Have you cut on a damp lawn?
What model do you have?
Mr. RDCS never used electric to cut on wet grass. I use my Exmark gas ⛽️ powered if that situation comes about. 32 inch 17 horses 🐴
Ryobi has a battery powered riding mower. I wanted to get it but didn't want to spend $2600
Has anybody posted a video on RUclips about it?
@@BYDonBermudaGrassCentral yes about battery life and cut length
Well I got to be honest with you. The ego eco system is just vastly superior. Here is the thing. The mower and battery is expensive but when you need a chainsaw, snow blower, hedge trimmer, trimmer, blower etc ego has it all and has kept their platform the same. Greenworks has been all over the board. They have discontinued and changed voltage lines. However, ego has remained. If I were you I would get the ego and take this back. Egos batteries last and are proven. Just a thought. (I have been using ego for almost 4 years.
@James Varnes wow, that is terrible. Lithium is very sensative to heat and cold. I store mine indoors and they still run like new about 5 years later.
All of the 60v batteries are interchangeable w Greenworks now.
Have you got good battery life out of your battery?
@@genfari9522 yes , 5 years and just a little fade but still good
BYD. Are you still enjoying your Greenworks pro? I’m planning to purchase a mower this weekend and I’m still undecided between battery and gas.
Henry Alford heck yes, used it again today. I’ve used it 4 times since 4-11-20 today is 4-22-20. Price also dropped to 399 today. But that extra battery 🔋 is 199.
Good deal. I will definitely check it out this weekend. Thanks!

Can’t wait to see how that battery holds up.
I can’t wait to see either, lol 😂 🔋
the best battery one is the kobalt
Does it mulch good though ?
Jason Montes I’ll find out soon
I went from gas to all battery powered then right back to gas. The battery powered tools are not as strong as the gas and the batteries suck after a few months.

Hey .. how 'bout you and me design and sell a universal mower cup-holder attachment and make a million dollars? =;)

They have a five year warranty, did you register it?
JUNK! WIll bogg down in tall grass
LUCKY13 ! You may be right but in most cases if you keep it cut once a week, that’s not going to be an issue.

Not accurate. I have used gas mowers my entire life bts switched to an Ego last season and it never bogs down. I cut my neighbors yard 6" high no problem. It never bogged down. The gas mower is obviously heavier but no real difference in a cut.
Rageofman Joke Clan you cut at 6”? Or was the yard 6”? How much did you take off? Was the turf very dense? Tried electric, my turf is to dense?
