hell yeah another superior trumpet player! /s but fr. trumpet isssss honestly imo the best instrument in all of any band or corps. just so loud. the range of pitches low to high is insane. beautiful sound, worldwide known, can do solos or whatever and it sounds good as other instruments can't as easily... it's just all around like... a superior instrument hah... just personally yeah im biased i play it but imo its *one of* the best instruments of all time
I play clarinet and I’m learning mellophone! Bluecoats is my dream corps but I’m setting the bar lower next season and auditioning for colts and music city.
Absolutely fabulous and why I've always enjoyed the amazing drum corps sound. This arrangement is so close to Vienna's I think she would be very proud to hear her music played by the Bluecoats. I keep playing this piece for inspiration. Thanks for making this your hymn. Hanging on to that one note sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo long doesn't do anything for the actual song though - even though it shows great lung capacity.
I know there are other corps with “better” or “matched” sound but if you’re really listening I haven’t heard anything quite like the bluecoats. And my favorite corps is Carolina crown and I know how good their brass is and to be honest I prefer crown brass over others. But I say again. The bluecoats have such a unique sound and blend that I’ve never heard another group get to. It’s just the way the corps is.
brody bergstrom I completely agree and I think it’s because the contras aren’t underplaying the baritones. I believe when most corps’ play I can hear the baritones playing over the contras and it loses that depth and richness probably because the amount of air support needed for a contra and lack of contras there are, and despite everything the blue coats still make sure their contras aren’t covered up which gives them that unique sound because they sound extra dense and it creates a better blend, ether that or I’m crazy.
I miss this. 2017 was the last Bluecoats show that actually sounded like a drum corps show. Yeah, the 2018 and 19 shows are great but, it's not what I came to see.
