“If you can’t sing it, you can’t play it.” - everyone that played in a drum corps that marched G’s… it wasn’t a gimmick, it was necessary. However, what a rich tradition/technique it left.
i marched cascades in 23 and we sang our corps song (imagine) at the end of each performance, but we just sang notes, and we didn't necessarily perfect it, just something to bring us together now matter how poor or well the run went that day
At crossmen we would sing in visual rehearsal a lot of the time, just on dah dah, because we didn’t really have lyrics with the songs notes we were playing but it was wonderful! I loved when we would sing!
this is from their 2014 show, where they put the song on the field w/ instruments and marching. pretty sure these are the brass players singing their parts with the actual lyrics from the original
Random Person: Whats your favorite song?
Me: Uhh... its complicated

I adore that bluecoats sings their ballads, and really knows how to sing them too! Do other corps do this? I'd love to hear it.

When I worked at Acxiom we cracked jokes about this song
I was the 1000th like 😊
Reach in your pocket, embrace you for all you're worth. Is that wrong? Isn't that what you want?
Endless keyboard nattering is unnecessary and distracting from the purity of the song.

to quote a comment from earlier, "if you can't sing it, you can't play it"
Ugh praises to Vienna Teng the mastermind behind this song and many other great ones
Do they know what they are singing? They don’t even know the meaning of the song and the message it is sending.
i think they do, they're all musicians after all
@@criticalhealthmusic You must be kidding me. That’s like saying a bricklayer understands architecture since he is building a skyscraper.
