Luckily I've only had the missing audio a few times. Mainly it's been frozen images from the cold weather.

Consider it as a little break, which I find so useful from time to time.
Glad the weather got a little warmer for you both so that you could get out on the bikes.
I've seen a few people have had some GoPro issues over the winter, bloody horrible when it happens.
I don't mind banked videos, winter is tough, times are really tough in the UK (cost of living) so some people can't even afford to ride at the moment, so banked videos from anyone is fine with me.

Every time I get a couple videos banked I end up having to use them right away! 🤷.

I have had so many issues with corrupt files. It's a mighty blow to me when it happens as i just don't have the time to reshoot videos over. It's hard enough to keep content flowing on a regular basis. You are not a bad YTer by any stretch of your imagination. Keep plugging away at it as time permits.
That's the big problem... trying to find time to re-shoot! I find my biggest issue with corrupt files is when it's really cold outside. When it's below 45 degrees I have to ride very slowly and try to get everything shot in under 30 to 40 minutes. Or I will definitely have problems.

This time of year is always a pain in the backside. Good to get in the habit of aiming to get two videos on a day out, that is if there's much to talk about. It's tricky! But can cover for an off-week of no riding due to weather. :)
Actually, that's probably a good idea! Trying for two vlogs in one day. Nice days are so limited. Humm...I might have to try that.

I bank videos when I can, but like to keep current, so unless my newest video is time sensitive and needs to come out sooner, I'll post my oldest stuff first to keep the timeline and to not be too far out of the season we are riding in. Saying that, I recently posted a banked video that was almost a year old... which sort of worked as it was still the same riding season (winter), just a year later lol. I do muchly prefer to watch current content, but I know some folk can't get out on their bikes all year, so they have to use banked videos. I used to keep a months worth when I was posting 2 videos a week... no idea how I kept that schedule up as I struggle with one a week these days, and my work/life balance has not changed.
I try to keep current as well. And most of the time I have no choice anyway, cause when I get a couple banked, I end up having to use them anyway. 🤷.
Yeah, especially during the winter it's hard to get out one video a week.

I don't mind the banked videos. As a fellow motovlogger I understand that its usually just something we have to do, well us Northern folk. That area does look like you're way out west too, pretty cool.

I feel as a viewer it is nice to have "up to date content" but not something to fuss about .. if a video is shot months before the upload a small disclaimer saying " march 28th,2022" in the video description would be sufficient enough . don't feel rushed to put out content. just make sure you are happy with the final result. your videos are great, I enjoy watching you ride , hearing the bike and listening to the topics.

all my videos between November and February are pretty much banked videos. As long as it's not a time sensitive subject, it doesn't really matter. If I didn't bank videos, I would probably have to figure something out or shut down the channel for a few months.
Yep, living up north sucks doesn't it! It would be nice to go out weekly and make a fresh video.
I plan on trying to bank some videos for the upcoming season. I just have to make sure they are ( all season ) videos. 😁

Luckily that was my first corrupt file. But I do get frozen video when it gets really cold out.

I’m hearing ya with the technical issues. For all my important videos where I will only get one shot at filming. For sound, I use a voice recorder (Zoom H1N).
Luckily I haven't had too many audio issues. I think maybe 3 so far. My biggest issue is the GoPro freezing due to the cold. I'll have audio, but the image is stuck.

I need to learn to do this, banking is a good thing!! I do not think you are a bad motovlogger. I started to clean my cards, and do some old footage. Too much snow, and winter is just too long, Next year I am going to plan ahead.
I'm going to try and do the same thing this year too. Maybe try and bank some gear review videos or something like that. Nothing time sensitive.

I tried banking videos before, however, I found that once they were a week or two old that I would just delete them and not post as they were "old" or I felt they were outdated for some reason...stupid I know, but oh well.
I've only done that once or twice. Let a video set to the point it didn't seem relevant. I'm thinking maybe if doing a few review videos to bank. Cause if those are a little bit old it's no big deal

I had a hdd go bad and I lost a few vids. Later I went back and plugged it into a different computer and was able to extract them. Wasn't banking on purpose but I have content to get me through another Canada winter................JB..
Ohio winters are bad enough!! I don't even want to think about what you Canadians have to deal with!
That sucks about the HDD! Luckily you were able to retrieve them though.
The biggest technical issue I worry about is me not pressing a button or choosing the wrong settings. Thankfully the tech is very reliable.
Banked videos don't bother me too much, but it can be confusing and also embarrassing if I don't realize. I have made a fool of myself by commenting about the weather or somesuch on a banked video. If they're more than 6 months old it's a little odd. Other than that, I don't mind.

Gotta love Corrupt files. Seem to always happen on the better video files. I bank videos, especially for winter since I live in Upstate New York. I don't mind people that do it. Either that, I have install videos or product videos and maybe a couple mail call videos. But, I would rather be out riding doing ride videos or actual motovlog videos.
Oh yeah, upstate New York, you guys definitely get it a bit worse than us.
You probably have to start banking videos early in the season!
I still feel a little weird doing talking head videos. Especially since I'm never home alone. So I'd rather be recording on the bike as well.

Corrupt files, you say? What SD cards are you using? *knock on wood* I've never had a corrupted file. I've had the no audio issue, though.
Is this the part where I humble brag and say I've got like 30 videos banked for the "winter" we're not getting? FWIW, I don't mind delayed videos [I don't call them banked, I call them delayed, it sounds better to me]

If it makes you feel better, there some Motovloggers I only watch on the big TV ( you being one of them ). So even though I've watched them, I sometimes forget to comment cause my phone is on charge.
For instance, I watched your ( sponsorship ) video today. Haven't commented yet though!! 😂🤷.
@@KODEGREY Yeah, GoPros don't like off-brand SD cards - they want 100mb/s speeds - whether it's read, write, or both - I can't remember. I use SanDisk Extreme Pro I think - something like that. They were around $45 for a 256gb card the last time I bought one.

PS: If it makes you feel better - I have a couple of videos where I shot some b roll with the Sony and forgot to change the settings, so the footage is over-exposed - OOPS! It happens to the best of us [me being the best of us ;) ]
5:03 the wet doesn’t help either! I’ve had my cameras do its own thing in several occasions just because it got wet….
I don’t sandbag or bank as you call it. I have recorded maybe a week ahead occasionally when the forecast looks bad or if I’ll be out of town or something but, typically go week to week. I get your 3 reasons luckily I don’t have to deal with the super cold too much. I think it’s cool for you guys in the “Great White North” to sandbag. Anything is better than a HD 120 circle jerk video😂😂😂

I don’t let youtube pressure me into recording anything. I don’t really care who watches either. I just take the attitude that if I have something to say I’ll say it, otherwise I can’t be bothered making videos for the sake of it. Not even sure why I do it tbh… therapy? I dunno…
I don't really get upset if I miss a few videos. It would be nice to stay up to date, but I don't stress over it.
Well if you're like me...I do it cause it's fun, therapeutic and a great way to meet other riders! Plus I think it would be cool to show the grandchildren ( I don't have any yet ) how cool their gramps was. Well... either they will think I'm cool, or some weird old cringey dude!! 😂

I don't think it's a bad thing to have some videos banked up. If I'm traveling or going to events and I break up the days into multiple videos then i somewhat can have footage. But when it comes to having several videos already edited and ready to go.......No. But like you said in your 3 reasons, technical issues has the possibility to kill more than 1 video if your trying to get multiple videos out of an event.
That is one of my biggest worries when it comes to this. Going to a one time event and having camera or sound issues. I triple check everything and hope for the best!

I hear ya on banking videos, I try super hard to bank em but I never seem to get enough going to actually keep my channel consistent 😭. I don't mind watching banked videos at all!! I love seeing green scenery and dry roads with sunshine while it's gross outside 🥲. That and I like to look at it like they've been busy or unable to get out but still wanna put content out for people's entertainment 😅
The most I have been able to bank is 2 videos. Unfortunately, something happens and I end up having to use them right away! 😂.

There is always moto chat , That's what I have been doing on my channel, I can't take the cold . But I'm looking forward to the warm weather so I can do moto vlog .
I do moto chat once in a great while. I still feel really awkward standing in front of the camera. Maybe it's because I'm never home alone and always have someone listening while I'm recording.

I’ve had so many issues with cameras, and preparation, I’ve had a lot of rides I recorded, that I couldn’t use because of one thing or another. I’ve banked videos on several occasions, heck, I still have New Year’s Day ride videos coming out… weather is a major factor, if you can’t ride, motovlogging is tough!!
Corrupt footage is the worst. I lost 2 days of footage from my last trip. The real bummer is not being able to rerecord it. I think unless it's a time sensitive subject, who cares when it's recorded. No one really knows if it's new or not. Each person treats their process differently. Make the videos you want and publish them when you want.
Totally agree, if it isn't time sensitive then it's no big deal. ( Next week's video is going to be on the all new 2017 Honda Grom!! ) 😂. Kidding!!

It can be aggravating at times. You might have one day in two weeks to ride. So cramming in RUclips stuff can get in the way at times.
Question. Do you delete files in the GoPro? Or do you reformat when it's full? Cause I hear deleting in camera can corrupt files
Well. 95% of the time I delete files right from the GoPro. Sometimes when I have it hooked up to my computer. I've never reformatted a card yet.

I’m about to be a bad youtuber. I’ve been sticking to a schedule for a long time now. It can get to the point that you become a slave to the system. But I have real life grown up stuff to get on with and RUclips will have to take a back seat for a while 🤷🏻♂️

I 👋 have 👋 three 👋 batteries per GoPro! 😂. But if the file is corrupt or the image has frozen due to the cold, a battery swap isn't going to help!! And I won't know it till after I'm home anyway.
This was my first actual corrupt file. I've had frozen images due to the cold though.
