Sweden was criticized for not shutting down more for Covid. They closed no businesses, and closed only high schools and colleges, no daycares, elementary, or middle schools, since Covid was low risk for children. They suspended large gatherings, of 10,000 or more, but no small gatherings. They initially had more seniors dying of Covid, than did other European countries, and were criticized. But their health minister said, "Wait a year. Your countries will then have the same number of deaths, and you will also have destroyed your economies." And he was right. Two years in, Sweden had the same number of deaths as other European countries of a similar size. Closing schools and businesses was never the answer.

As a swed my self. I can confirm this and more. Only in the start when all the hysteria was at its peak did I see people wearing masks. But after about a year in the pandemic, a slim minority would actually bother to go out with masks, myself included.

My dad raised me really well and was hugeee on instilling things like respect (esp. for elders and authority), manners, humility, and gratefulness. No talking back, no whining, no throwing a fit over not getting my way. (Of course I still went thru typical teenage rebellion) But that's the complete OPPOSITE of what today's kids are being taught! I am who I am today bcs of how I was raised. And I'm beyond grateful for my dad's strictness and no BS attitude, as much as I hated it at times 😅

I first saw trigger warnings in a group I belonged to for ppl who have PTSD. At first talking to ppl who experienced the same reactions I had was great, I didn’t feel so alone and crazy. And then…the trigger warnings. You couldn’t talk about anything without someone saying you needed to put a trigger warning on it. And then I noticed something else: ppl were claiming to be traumatized about all sorts of things. But they weren’t “traumatized”, they were just “uncomfortable”. As someone who was actually raised in a very traumatic and abusive household, I got pissed every time I visited that group bc of how fragile ppl were. I wondered quite a bit at first if I was just being too judgmental, I questioned myself a lot about that, but when I saw someone claim to be “traumatized” bc her friend didn’t respond to an email for 4 whole hours I concluded that it wasn’t me, after all, LOL. Peer support is great when it’s ppl who truly want to get their lives straightened out, but I learned from that experience is that all it takes are a few perpetual victims to ruin the whole thing, and when they’re given an amp, they’ll have everyone competing for oppression points in no time. It wasn’t the place for me, I just learned to deal with things on my own. Am I perfect? Hell, no. Do I still have work to do? Yep. But I have no inclination to sit around ruminating about the past like that, or crying about how much I didn’t deserve what I got. Ever since that group, I can’t stand the fragility ppl have, the weakness, when I see it repeated. It’s not that I’m not empathetic to ppl who truly need help, I am, but damnit you’d better actually need help.

There are trauma doctors in the ER because the ER is the emergency room where very serious and urgent medical issues are handled, not where people who are easily offended need to go because their feelings were hurt and they in this victim mentality society think they are now damaged for life with "trauma". I think the point of trigger warnings is that it’s more of a social shaming method than a warning to look away. It’s a way to label something as socially unacceptable without outright banning it. Kind of like a “soft” ban or a shame powered ban.

I agree with Dr. Phil. I thought 'trigger warnings' were meant for people with PTSD. For example, if you're an army vet with PTSD and you forget it's July 4, it would be kind for a friend to remind them they may want to stay inside tonight. Bring your dog inside. Some of us have genuine severe mental health problems, and the healthy don't know what that's like.

This is what i've been telling people for decades actually. And yet many of these people around me continue to say "these are my feelings, who are you to tell me how to deal with them?" and I've actually had to make a choice whether I want to continue associating with these weakminded individuals. But then something clicked in my head and I thought "If I give in to this emotion and stop having anything to do with people because of their lack of willpower, I'm no different than they are."... So then I realized, i'm going to maintain my position no matter what, and I will still keep my relations with these people, and they can decide if they want to continue to associate with me or not. Because I refuse to live a lie, and I refuse to give in to their weakness.

What's ruining kids' mental health is the state of the world. Nobody can say what they think without fear. And it looks very hopeless to young people who don't know much about the history of the world, or what people have overcome before. And they're DELIBERATELY not teaching the things that help make strong, capable people. It's not trigger warnings. Those probably don't even rate on most people's scale of what worries them.

Good afternoon, JP! Long time fan here and appreciate everything you do to keep us all informed! I've never commented on a video before, but this one really hits home for me. You see, my name is Michael Verley and I'm the author of two epic fantasy series aimed at adults: "The Legacy Project" and "the Life and Times and Women of Marcus Veovin." As an indie author, it's incredibly hard to be recognized for the hard work I put into my novels, but it's even more difficult in this current climate because I write epic fantasy for a NON-WOKE community and refuse to put trigger warnings on my books. Yup, that's right: I write about intriguing, fantasy plots in a world of magic and mystery in which men and women fall romantically in love with each other along the way...weird concept in this day and age, right?! Anyway, trigger warnings only serve to ruin parts of the books, and in this day and age, the fact that the presence of a cat in a novel might trigger certain people, which is just plain insanity! I saw someone once complain about another writer tackling the topic of cancer, and for someone such as myself who lost my mother to cancer, I'm an adult and know that we live in the real world, so do I need to be warned...? NO! People need to grow up! Like you, I also won't bend the knee to woke absurdities: I've spoken to publishers who have asked if I would change certain races of characters - did I mention I write fantasy? So why change made -up races? Geez! - or write spicy scenes for audiences who are not straight, and the answer has always been the same: "I stand by MY characters and MY plot and will not change anything for all the money in the world. I have a story to tell and I won't sell out just for recognition. Thank you." It's so sad that in this day and age, some books are being censored, but like on of your other recent videos about being cancelled, I personally will take that risk to deliver to my readers the storylines they want and need to hear. I'm so glad there are brave people in this world such as you and myself who will not shy away and actually speak our minds through our chosen mediums. Your videos are an encouragement to enlightened people, just as I hope my books will one day be. As you and I both know, John Wayne said it best: "Courage is being scared to death and saddling up anyway."
