As I've aged, have accumulated clothing from several eras, have more styling confidence and don't care as much, I wear clothing based on how I feel that day, what's handy and what era I'm feeling. When I'm dressed for an era it's obvious I'm not today trendy. I'm yesterday trendy. I've always liked and made trendy styles and like matching. I know a lot of us don't do matchy-matchy anymore. That's you. Almost whenever I go out, even just shopping some one will compliment me on wearing a nice outfit. If something is nice and pretty on me it's to be worn at least once in a while. Pretty doesn't get old.

I own six pairs of crocs. My sis gave me the first pair (purple unisex) as a gift. They helped my arthritis so much that I started shopping and discovered Crocs for Women. Not nearly as wide as the Unisex and not clunky at all. The Lady Crocs have a silhouette that is more like a sneaker, but the signature comfort is still there. I have a pair in hot pink for around the pool, and another pair in very pale pink with tiny tropical flowers that are my bedroom slippers. I bathe the dog in my comfort Crocs flip flops. Their rain boots are the best I have ever owned, in every possible way. Mine are black with a small polka dot bow. The Unisex does make my small feet look cartoonish, and I would never wear them away from home, but all my Women’s Crocs are adorable, icons of comfort, and I get lots of compliments on them. ❤️🐊😎

I have the ultimate fashion tip, ladies...WEAR WHATEVER YOU WANT. Fashion is timeless. However YOU feel like dressing, is correct. Stop listening to these people trying to dictate your fashion, your mood, your life. Take control, make your own decisions, stop looking for validation and approval from others. Be the free person you can be. What makes YOU comfortable? What makes YOU feel attractive? Then wear it and stop feeding into this mess, here.

I have found that dresses that come with their own belt have the loops in a place that make the belt sit in a place that’s not the most flattering on my body. If I do use the belt a dress came with I have started to cut off the belt loops so I can position the belt where I want it.

A big yes to the ripped jeans trend ending....never liked them, never wore them. In fact, I didn't buy jeans for a several years because of this and also because of the extreme high waists. As a short torsoed person, some of the high rise denim jeans were almost under my breasts! I do, however, love the raw hem and the split hem.

    • @ruthgrady2824

But the high school kid still like and wear them. I took my 15 and 17 year old granddaughters school clothes shopping a week ago, and the ripped jeans are the very first item they picked, those and the short tops.
And my granddaughters attend a large, suburban high school, so they and the majority of girls attending their large big school wear these items of clothing .
But then teenagers can get away with fashion trends their mothers and grandmothers cannot.
I asked my 15 year old about the short tops, and she said, “Mimi, there are so many kids enrolled in our high school, it would be next to impossible to enforce a strict dress code. “
And she is right. With 3,000 kids in one high school, there are too many other worries the school administration has to be concerned about that measuring the length of the tops the students wear would be way didn’t their list of worries.
The girls buying clothes for college are also buying these two pieces of clothing.

These jeans HAVE gone out of style as far as runways, fashion shows, etc. it’s just that teenagers are still wearing them. Even though skinny jeans are supposed to be out and dated, I’ve noticed here in Miami NOBODY is wearing wide leg, or bootcut or anything other than their precious skinny jeans. Sometimes it takes a little extra time for trends to trickle down to everyone because people get in a rut.

As for the Crocs, I don't think anyone really wears them and thinks they are flattering....but I know a lot of nurses who claim they are comfortable for long shifts. I quit wearing them in about 2019. Now I only wear leggings as workout gear. I also quit wearing skinny jeans around that time and have been wearing mostly straight leg jeans since then. Tell the fashion industry that skinny jeans are out…. They will slam the door on you. I went shopping at a large mall this week specifically looking for straight, bootcut or even flare jeans. Yes, I found some, but everyone… every single retailer had tons of skinny jeans front and forward in the store. We’re talking Gap, express, Madewell, J. Crew, Loft, Ann Taylor. They styled them with oversized blazers or duster cardigans. What I didn’t see were “Mom jeans” AMEN! So, I don’t think skinny jeans are going anywhere, we’re just going to see them coexist with all sorts of other styles. The RUclips influencers have been predicting their exit for quite some time now and they are always wrong…. The skinny remains strong (however not the leggings jean) there is a reason women won’t give them up and fortunately retail is listening.

Not to be a Debby downer, but it would be nice to just get rid or toss clothes out. Remember that most of us out there are dealing with massive inflation and are having a very hard time making ends meet. If I purchase new clothes right now they are for my kids. How about doing a video on re-styling items in your closet to look fresh instead of buying more pieces of clothing to be on trend. Yes! Crocs, skinny jeans, hi/lo hemlines, leggings…not sorry to see them go. You both have lovely style, and don’t push the trends like certain influencers! Makes your channel so much fun and helpful!
Not a fan of the oversized blazer or shacket though! Last year almost every fashion influencer pushed the shacket and I will be so happy to not see it in future videos.
Classic basics sprinkled with some feminine and fun is what I lean towards. Fashion can get exhausting which is why I’ve never jumped on the trend wagon!

I'm 6ft and the only jeans the suit my hour glass figure are skinny jeans 🙈. However while we're still in summer I've swapped them over for well made jeggings. They give the look of a skinny jean but the material is lighter/softer/pull on with a stretchy waistline and has no zipper/stud button. I'm in the UK and skinny jeans/jeggings are definitely here to stay 😁

I finally decided to replace my skinny jeans with other styles. The slim straight creates too wide of a leg to tuck into my tall boots, so I purchased bootcut and flared for that. I’m keeping my leggings, but will be wearing them with dresses (and tall boots). I usually wear tunics over leggings, so never exposed the bum, but I get what you’re saying about ‘they’ve had their day’. Never owned Crocs - always thought they were ugly.

I agree with almost everything you guys said. I have learned over the years ( I’m 69) , to never go with trends at all. I try to be very frugal with what I purchase and wear what looks good on me. Women get sucked in to buying trends that don’t last but as you age, you develop your own style. At 5’2” I’m definitely going to be wearing my shorter blazers. Anything longer just ruins my proportions. Even my sweaters are shorter in length. I need the 1/3 upper, 2/3 lower proportion to feel that I look my best.

@@loriallred4727 It was a game changer for me. When I wear things that are too long, my legs appear stumpy. Other things just cut me in two, so I look square on top and square on the bottom. Try a few outfits on in front of a mirror and notice the proportions. Try to deliberately do it “wrong” so you can easily recognize what isn’t working. This is why tucking in a top helps. I actually kept several tops that I liked, I just hemmed them up a bit shorter so they come to just below the waist of my jeans. The proportions are right, and I don’t need to tuck in. 😊

    Re Crocs:
Nearly 66 years old... I have lived long enough to know that I don't give a damn what someone else thinks I should wear on my feet. Sorry ladies, lace up shoes are just not comfortable on my insteps. Don't get me wrong- crocs are not the only "casual shoe" that I wear.. but when my feet ache they ache and momma still needs to move! Aside from that / take a look at crocs "dress shoes"- platform heels ... leather looks... different heights... I wear them and not one person has suspected that they were crocs. And... look at their sandals....
But I go on too long.... some of your trend suggestions are nice- keep at it... I'll be interested to observe you when you are a good 20 years older! 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂

Even if I’m really not a “trend” person I’m well over 40 but it’s very nice to know what in the wardrobe that’s more in trend and that I should try to use at this moment .. and if I can find some trends I like to keep a lookout for .. and also what to put on a back burner .. the shorts suit set where great .. I have classics in black .. those are really going to get a try for now on 😀🌹🔥☀️

Oh and I’m so a flare person … every time I put on slim or skinny jeans I look. like an ice cream cone 🤣 .. i’m on the square almost reverted triangle form ( if I just trained a little I would get the reverted triangle form for sure) with long skinny legs .. so flares are FANTASTIC 👍 .. and I’m not large at all .. .. my weight is around 60- 65 kg and have a bra size 75 cm E cup .. and the shoulders are just a bit wider … when I was 20 kg more I had a 80-85 H cup size .. just like the front of a ship … but at least it outgrew the midsection 🌹

I even like to incorporate in a very retro piece at times. Always get compliments when I get nostalgic. I only add one item when I do this so it’s not a full blown 70’s explosion. Love your ideas! It makes most people look frumpy and fat. Kelly has great arms so she can rock the vest. Unfortunately a lot of woman have an out of shape body by the time their in their 40's and 50's. I'm going to get hate for these comments, lol... especially from those who are out of shape, lol... but like you guys I'm just giving my opinion. I feel that most of these styles heavier women can't wear. Let's face it, you just don't look good. Sorry.... 😊

There are also women, both overweight and underweight, who wear leggings regardless of how they look. There are few women out there who look great in leggings yet they are worn by all sizes. So why should a vest stop anyone because of the size of their arms. As long as a vest is the correct size meaning no bulges, bra lines or excessive cleavage, and worn with a great pair of slacks and accessories, anyone can rock the look. Class and confidence is where it starts. Just saying….

I am guilty about wearing leggings. I wear them a lot- they stretch, they are comfortable , I have a larger range of motion, they come in fun colors and patterns that don't always look good on other pants, and the biggest reason I still love them- I can wear them under a skirt or dress! I don't have to worry about bending down or sitting or a gust of wind. Another big reason I have them is because they are cheap! I can find them at a low price even if they aren't on sale. I have to watch every dollar I spend, so buying pants that are more expensive is hard for me.
That being said, I think I need to change how I wear leggings. 😅 I think leggings should only be worn under skirts, dresses, and maybe at the gym or at a yoga class. Thoughts?

It is definitely true that some things work for some people and not others when it comes to trends. I remember loving boot cut jeans (got rid of them), hating flares (still do), coming around to liking leggings (it took awhile), wearing skinny jeans almost every day (I still would be), hating baby doll dresses (in the 90's), not loving blazers (I preferred cardigans), and on and on. Another trend I have not seen on the catwalk/runway this autumn is the half tuck shirt/sweater, etc. Personally I've never liked this trend as it looks too undone and messy to me. I have seen a lot of fully tucked-in shirts, sweaters, cardigans too on the Miu Miu catwalk. PS It's so hard to find on-the-knee skirts and dresses, it's always mini or midi (frumpy!) or maxi, why not on the knee?!! which is so flattering, esp if you don't have great knees or are petite

Because that would be a garment you would keep, possibly for years. Fashion requires extremes in order to be profitable. No one over 20 wants a micro mini and no one under 80 wants a maxi. But that's what's in the store so that after you buy, you are still DISSATISFIED. That prompts you to go back to the shops and buy more. I have sold footwear fashions for years. This is how things work........

@@GoOutside321 I sew. I depends on the design of the garment whether that will be successful. It's one thing shortening a skirt by 2 inches and quite another going from a maxi to knee length. The garment may not drape properly.
