I spent over an hour going in Toyota car manual on how to fold and set up the third seat on my Toyota Sienna but without success. Then I saw your video and was able to set the 3rd seat in five minutes. Thanks a lot
Can’t remember exactly what year this was. Think it was a 2015 but these seats have been like this since 2011. There will be a new body style for 2021 and not sure how those will operate yet
I need advice. I want to do stealth camping in my van. I've taken out the middle row seats and only kept the one seater up in the back. Trouble is when I removed the middle row, the sliding track mechanism leaves huge bumps on the floor and they won't slide without the seat in, so whatever position they're in when I took the seats out, that's it. Is there a way to remove them temporarily (that's easy to put back later?)
Aqua Stone You can slide them without the seats on them. You just have to hold down the little tabs and slide it. As far as taking them out you can do that. It’s not too difficult but the passenger side is a little tougher than the driver since you have to get under the vehicle where the spare tire is to remove that bolt. But can be done
I wonder if there is a mat made to place over the third row when it’s stowed. I’m a fan of the Highlander (size) but don’t need the third row. Sienna is not out of the question either.
I have a 1999 Sienna (107k miles) and would like to get a new one but I'm waiting for Toyota to change the 2nd row so it folds into the floor so the seats don't have to be removed and stored. I use that space for a dog crate. Do you have any idea when this might happen?
Betsy Sumner It probably won't hat in aware of because it would take away from the ability to have the long slide seats. The seats on the vans that have those do not move much and creates an issue for room in the third row
Betsy, I had the same issue, and when I bought my 2016 Sienna, I had no idea about the stupid rails until AFTER I had signed all the paperwork (previously had a 2010 without this problem). I had the dealer remove the rails and have them stored in my garage with the 2nd row seats. Horrible design, IMO. :(
What year is this ? > i saw yesterday a 10 year old sienna that had buttons just under trunk and u just push buttons. I saw same things on 2006 ina video u xould clealy see the buttons but no dealer ever pointed these buttons to me i saw them myself
kram1689 A twin mattress should fit easily. I think it is 38x74 and a twin XL is a little longer at 80". The Sienna is approximately 47.5" wide at the narrowest point but this should fit fine with the second row seats out. The full however is 54x74 and would be too wide to lay flat but should fit length wise. That answer your question?
We use an adjustable bed from that slides one to almost full ("double") bed size, make bed slats with tongue-and-groove decking, and put a combination of self-inflating camping pads and a double-bed memory for matters topper to sleep on. We have removed the third row seats completely, to give us more storage in the 'well' in the rear. We mount the bed frame on bed risers in the front and on table legs cut to size in the rear, and lash the frame to the middle seat mounts so it does not move when we stop suddenly. The space under the bed and in the rear well fit all our camping gear, with room between the bed and the drivers seat for a GrubHubUSA camp kitchen and the dog's bed.
Want to lay down back of couch seat to make a bed. It's stoopid the back won't go back level becausei wouldn't have to either sleep on half of it or stow and put in mattress. Apparently the design is for motel people
Those third row seats do not lock into place which is soooo unacceptable from a safety standpoint for many reasons-how about you saying something about that? Really unacceptable! How about talking about that!
@@steveunderwood4944 short of rolling the vehicle(which you’d have much bigger problems) those seats aren’t going anywhere once recessed into the floor
@@steveunderwood4944 smart, I like to wear a seatbelt while riding my motorcycle as well, unfortunate the manufacturers don’t think of this safety feature, I had to install my own

I have not found any way to easily remove these, but you are not stuck with leaving them in the position they were in when you took the seats out. You can play with the metal tabs as you put some sliding pressure on the mechanism, eventually you will find the combination of lever-pushes that allow you to move the mechanism one click distance at a time. tedious, but it can be done.

You’re very welcome!💪🏻👊🏻. Glad it helped
Thank you so much for this video. I had to rent this car to transport equipment and had no idea how to bring the seats down this saved me thank you
Excellent video sir. I am probably going to buy a used Sienna soon so this video was very helpful. Thank you from Minnesota.
Great Video Brother, But , We Need To Know Which Year its That Van. Thanks for teach us in the easy way
Gary, great tutorial. You really sold me on the Sienna.
That is so cool how they fold! Been thinking about buying a van to travel the U.S. in and this one seems really promising. Thanks for the video.
BananaCellphone You're very welcome! Thanks for watching! Let me know and I will hook you up!
Nice! Will a twin mattress fit in it without having to remove the other seats leaving them slid forward?
Hi Gary, my 2012’s third row drivers side seat won’t stow completely flat. The right side sticks up a bit. Any idea what it can be?
Thank you, Fist Pump Guy! This has always been a mystery to me... until now! :)
Man that's some room. I could pit all my building maintenance tools back there. Not to mention , puts my bikes when on vacation touring..
have question while the rear door not opened how we can remove the 3rd seat
I wish the back couch made into a bed like the previa does.
Hey Fist pump guy! What is wrong with my 2015 siennas radio its frozen .
Thank you for your time and effort for sharing this.😃
Do you know how to totally remove the third row seats in the Siena?
Omg..so easy even an old woman like me could do it!! I think I just decided which van I want...what year is that?

Does Toyota make insect screens for the back flip out windows and for the skylight?
Aqua Stone Not sure on that one. I haven’t seen anything that it front the manufacturer that’s offered
You can buy mosquito netting by the yard and affix it over the openings using a combination of magnets and painter's tape.
Makes me want a third one.
Thanks Gary 🇺🇸👍
What’s maximum space can be with second row moving forward? 6’ by 4’?
YES

What year Toyota is this?
What year is this minivan?
I think that was a 2015 or 2016
What year Sienna is this?
But in the town and country, the second row seats fold into the floor, in the sienna, the second row create dead space in the car
Are the seats supposed to lock in the stowed position?
They will stay in the stowed position until the handle is pulled up
not true at all!

Thank you for excellent tips. 👍👍
Thanks very much this just save me so much
I like the video
Awesome job thank you
I appreciate that!💪🏻👊🏻
Can the 2nd row seats be removed completely? four bolts? Thanks!
Kevin S. Yes they can. It takes a little effort to get the tracks out but I have done it for a customer
Kevin S. I wonder when they do a redesign, they'll make the second row stow and go as well.
Any idea how to totally remove the whole 3rd row seat for a 2009 sienna?
+Jeff DaChef - you have to pry the plastic covers off and remove the 12 mm nuts and bolts (maybe 8 of them)... it's easy!
@@leanavine Thanks
Can you put a twin/full bed mattress in the back of sienna??? It would be perfect to tell us your measurement.

a 4'x8' sheet of plywood will lie flat in the back of our 2013 Sienna when the middle seats are out.

you in the marines ?

Thanks for the video it was very informative. May I ask which camera you used to record this video, it looks nice and sharp with good color.

They do lock in place. Put pressure on the front part of the seat and it locks
Don’t think you have that correct-in my 2022 XSE the third row seats that fold into the floor, do not lock into place.
@@steveunderwood4944 short of rolling the vehicle(which you’d have much bigger problems) those seats aren’t going anywhere once recessed into the floor
Well, the point is -They don’t lock into place when stowed-period, we bungee cord ours down, Toyota needs to fix that for safety purposes
