I saw this show two nights ago and it was FABULOUS!!!!! I sat front row, center/center and Elvis gave me his scarf! The singing, the energy, the story....it was AMAZING!!!!!
I saw this show in New York and it was tremendous! I'm going to see it again in February. I could care less that it was or wasn't faithful to the original recording. What I cared about was seeing these guys and envisioning the originals at the height of their powers. Incredible show! P.S. I saw Elvis in concert in 1971 and had seen Jerry Lee Lewis and Johnny Cash in concert As well as Little Richard, Chuck Berry, Fats Donmino, Rick Nelson and Bo Diddley SEE THIS SHOW TO ENJOY THE MUSIC!
Saw it in Atlanta many years ago (brilliant cast) at the fabulous Fox Theater. It was fabulous. And I lived during their heyday (my early teens) so I can tell you it was right on the money. My boyfriend and I used to dance to Carl Perkins' "Blue Suede Shoes," which Elvis later covered and made more famous. Perkins version is excellent. True rockabilly.....most folks today have no idea what rockabilly sounded like.
Its kinda funny..... I remember seeing the Tony's last year and seeing this and going ".......WHAT....was THAT?" Like..... That looks incredibly stupid. I forgot all about it, and in April I went to NYC and we ended up with last minuet (and AMAZING) tickets. Needless to say.... I'm obsessed. And I didn't realize that it was the same show until now :)
@SNITSINC that was my opinion .. i meant the show not the people that performed .. i mean the sound was off sometimes also alot of presenters failed . for example 1:55 the guy who does Elvis he's mic doesn't work ..
@frankydman: the real Jerry Lee Lewis will be at the show in New York on September 10th, I believe. I assumed we'll find out then, if he hasn't seen it already.
"Party"' by Elvis Presley came out in 1957 in the movie Loving You. "Whole Lotta Shakin'" came out in 1957 as well. The MDQ sessions were in 1956. Someone did not do their research. Why isn't Carl Perkins performing "Blue Suede Shoes"? That is the theme song of the musical. The Gibson Les Paul Goldtop played by Carl Perkins is a great touch though. That is the guitar he used to record "Blue Suede Shoes" on Sun in 1955. He also appeared in the movie Jamboree playing it in 1957.
@princesstna925 tour companies are usually better. They know that for most of the audience they are seeing a broadway musical for the first time and they want to make the night memorable. The casts on Broadway though tend to treat what they are doing as a job, a fun job, but a job nonetheless.
@ayah3688 CHICAGO was nominated-and won-for Best Revival back in 1997. Shows can only be nominated for a Tony during their first year on Broadway. As for THE ADDAMS FAMILY, all I can say is it got bombed by every major critic and most of the people who see it say it's terrible. Are you possibly a Bebe Neurith fan, since she starred in both OBCs? And LA CAGE was good-but it's a revival and so had to be nominated in that category.
i like it when the singers who are portraying icons sound like the original none of these guys do...especially when trying to recreate a feeling and the soul of what happened when four friends got together for a jam...this is just four musos singing old songs
Carl Perkins is the least famous of the four, I get it. But that doesn't mean you turn him into "generic rockabilly musician #4". He had an incredibly distinctive bluesy voice and intonation. And Johnny Cash gyrating around and playing the guitar like he's Pete Townsend? No one but Joaquin Phoenix can nail his presence, again I get it. But you could at least try instead of giving up completely.
This play has Jerry Lee as the main man. Far from it. Listen to the real deal and Elvis clearly leads it all the way through. This production puts JLL as the star. He was in the backgound singing harmony keeping up with Elvis.. I just listened to it recently on Sirius Elvis radio, and I own the CD. Had Elvis not walked in that day, there would have been no Million Dollar Quartet. I have no interest in this recontructed mish mash.

Sound goes out during the tv broadcast of the Tonys, on what's supposed to be their big push of the show. Good job, guys.
Every body is fantastic !!!!!!!
Just saw their vegas show and it was great!! this coming from someone that didn't grow up during that era. I really enjoyed it :)
i just saw this in Rochester. I am quite young and adore these guys. No male "soul" singer would be anywhere without all of them
How is Levi so amazing???!!!!
In Johnny Cash's book, he says he WAS in it, it's just that he sang higher, so he could blend easier with Carl and Elvis.
Pretty sure he wasn’t there, he was only there for the picture then he had to leave for an appointment
Levi Kreis is amazing.
Being a fan of every single one of these legends, THAT WAS FUCKING AWESOME!

ruclips.net/video/Ol76Vquoy3o/видео.html Martin Kaye last week
Levi Kreis.
drummer looks a lot like buddy holy LOL
Yes! I thought the same thing!
Right.
The drummer that night in 1956 was W.S. Holland, he went on to be Johnny Cash's drummer for most of his career.
But where was Mary Tyler Moore?
yeah and the sound technicians didn't mess this up at all
Love Levi Kreis from Million Dollar Quartet on Broadway? Come and see him at the El Portal Theatre in Sam Harris and Friends on New Year's Eve!

I wonder what Jerry Lee Lewis (The only living member of the Million Dollar Quartet) would think of this musical...
RiP Elvis Presley, Carl Perkins , Johnny CASH, Jerry Lee Lewis and Sam Philips.
@blackironkatana Yes he does!
Remembrances of Elvis and the shaking leg, greased hair, clothes !!!!!
@flemingtonzsf Who did you see? I saw David Abeles as Jerry Lee back in March, and he was freaking amazing! - 3

Is it just my computer, or is youtube being slower when it comes to loading videos?

I saw the tour last night here in Tampa, I think the tour company was better..IMO....
Stuff Your Prof Made Up 303?
Doesn't Levi look alot like Harry Connick Jr?
i like it when the singers who are portraying icons sound like the original none of these guys do...especially when trying to recreate a feeling and the soul of what happened when four friends got together for a jam...this is just four musos singing old songs
Johnny cash only stayed there for about 10 min.to pick up a roalty check
What class was that? Bullshit 101?

Dan Helms least famous there's no levels between them they all deserve to be recognised on the same level they all played they're part
A nice presentation which degenerated into a chicken before the egg disaster how did; Party' sneak its way in there?,

Tony awards was a fucking fail
Great, fantastic group but the announcer can't read or even make a presentation seem worth while. Terrible announcer.
Terrible rendition 😆
absolutely terrible compared to the original
