No matter how long or short the run of this show has been, the cast, production team and stage crew should be extremely proud of the show. They have proven that stories done badly in one entertainment medium can succeed very well in another. They have put on something very special(tony award or not) and no one can ever change that simple fact.
Heard Cheyenne intentionally wore shorter than usual shorts for the Tony broadcast after being told they were fearful it wouldn't be 'family friendly' enough a performance.
Manuel Orozco the film came out in 1980...im sure it was filmed in 79... so technically we are both correct.. but I was 15 in 1980, guys wore shorts like this
Chris Bentley I was almost that age when I first saw the movie. I heard about the Broadway version didn't like the movie at much first but I ended up really liking it. The movie is actually better than the Broadway show. However, I love the music in it.
I watch this so often, and it makes me smile and so happy! Incredible voices! Loved seeing Xanadu the musical in a tiny theatre in London a few years ago, would love to have seen it on Broadway!
This performance (and Cheyenne in particular) is the reason that Xanadu lasted through the summer unlike most of the other best musical noms besides In the Heights. Strongest Tony performance by far.
I loved Xanadu the movie, and I love the broadway musical too!!!! When I saw this Tony Awards I thought dang Cheyenne is sexy and when he sings "all through the night, all of my life" I literally melted!!!! :)
I took my then-young kids to see this show on Broadway. We LOVED it. It was in a very small Broadway theater, and we felt like we were part of the show. Oh, and we got Kerry & Cheyenne’s autographs afterwards!
Sophie’s vlog Channel I find it so surreal he in this video falls in love with an Ancient Greek and in Descendants 3 actually plays an Ancient Greek. And i did not expect Hades to be Mal's long lost dad
I have never felt so sad about a show's closing before. I will be there this Sunday for the closing :(. Such an incredible show and cast. Everything was perfect about the show... It does not deserve to close.
I cannot believe I found this in 2021. The world seems in an upheaval, yet this takes me back to my youth in a pre-internet, pre-advanced technology place. It is still magic to me.
oh my god this guys voice omgggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggg.. hes insane. theres a lot of singers on youtube and i can say his performance is flawless. theres not a single thing that anyone could possibly say is wrong.
i have heard of xanadu but being a younger musical fan i was afraid i wouldn't like the music (old musicals can be really hit or miss for me), but after seeing this video i now know i absolutely must watch it. i love roller skating and kerry butler and musical ballads, and i've never heard of cheyenne jackson before but his voice is rockin. i will probably also watch the original movie bc i do love olivia newton-john as well
The fact that Cheyenne Jackson was not even nominated for a Tony Award for this (or for his other brilliant performances in All Shook Up, Damn Yankees and Finian's Rainbow, either) is just dumbfounding. His vocal range is astounding, absolutely the best of any man on Broadway today by far. And come on, those thighs alone should have merited a Tony.
Cheyenne really made this song. If you watch other renditions of this song, even the one in the movie, this song was simply ok. But when Cheyenne sings it, it really made me love this musical. IMO it's the best song in the musical and it's cos of him. Kerry Butler is amazing as well, but this is the song that made the show for me.
Can someone explain the Lily Tomlin "That was my homage to Marisa Tomei!" comment which made Marisa and the audience giggle at the beginning of this video?!
Everyone is praising Cheyenne, who is amazing, but they are completely ignoring the incredible Kerry Butler. God, I love her.

Darth Karas I came here originally for her
she is very talented but this performance was a little pitchy and belty
@@Cauti0nSeaman She didn't normally sing this song.
@@oscarphile oh got it
Cheyenne Jackson...one of the most beautiful men on the planet.
JC Spurling every time I watch him I feel dirty... And I'm ok with that, ha!
@@Glitter_Bear He has that affect on a lot of people...lol :-)
That man is aging perfectly!😍😈
More recently, he gives evil True Blood nemesis preying on virgin blood
Cheyenne is one of the most iconic himbos on broadway, change my mind
Cheyene it the BROADWAY HIMBO definitive!

I was in a production of Xanadu almost three months ago, and I still listen to this song practically every day...I am not ashamed...not one bit.
Gorgeous Cheyenne Jackson evidently never missed leg day at the gym. Amazing!
Or arm day, or chest day...... 😊👍
Heard Cheyenne intentionally wore shorter than usual shorts for the Tony broadcast after being told they were fearful it wouldn't be 'family friendly' enough a performance.
it supposed to be in the 70's...guys normally wore their shorts that short or shorter... not unusual...
actually the 80's.

Technically it's still sucks
He's got the voice, the body and the face. Omg!
and if you look him up on porntube, you can see way more than this.
But does he have the feet?
@@brandong298 he's got 3, big ones!
@@alianofann Damn three that’s impressive LOL.
And the awesome ass ❤❤
I remember watching the TONY’s and watching this performance. I thought it was fantastic. Both lead singers are so talented!
Just became a fan of Cheyenne Jackson. OMG.

Thanks for this clearer version AND including Lily Tomlin's FULL introduction. Funnier to see her try to say Electric Light Orchestra.
his vibrato is so perfect! damn!!
I took my then-young kids to see this show on Broadway. We LOVED it. It was in a very small Broadway theater, and we felt like we were part of the show. Oh, and we got Kerry & Cheyenne’s autographs afterwards!
Cheyenne Jackson is my fave person now because he plays Sonny in Xanadu
HE'S AMAZING. He's got a lot of talent. He's amazing and he can be my knight in shining armor anyday :)
God he is beautiful. It's almost unfair how much he has been blessed. Looks, voice, body...and those LEGS.
I love Cheyenne Jackson and he was absolutely amazing in Descendants 3💙💙💙💙💙💙💙💙💙💙😘😘😘😘😘😘😘😘

OMG his voice, it's...unreal what a talent!
I'm a fan of the movie, so I was glad to see it become a Broadway musical.
Thanks for sharing this piece of work!
That speech was a journey in itself!
Thanks for a better quality here. Such sweet silliness!
Saw this on Broadway last August. Got to stagedoor afterwards. So exciting to meet Cheyenne Jackson. Such a sweety!
I'm in my high school production of Xanadu, it's hilarious!

Cheyenne Jackson ....woof! , one sexy talented man.
Hillarious. Cheyenne Jackson is a god, by the way. I never heard anything of him before. I´m blown away. Incredible voice and wow, what a man.

What an excellent show. If you haven't seen it..go!

Such an awesome performance!
OMG his voice is flawless! I'm so sad they didn't win any awards :(

I Loved this show, and will be at the final performance on Broadway, October 12th, 2008.
Thank God for Cheyenne Jackson.

Can someone explain the Lily Tomlin "That was my homage to Marisa Tomei!" comment which made Marisa and the audience giggle at the beginning of this video?!
My guess is it's a throwback to something Marisa did earlier in the telecast. I'll have to check out the video of the full show and get back to you.
