How I Got Started GPU Mining with Gaming PC | Adding multiple GPUs to a Desktop PC

- In this video I will show you how I started crypto mining with my Gaming PC. Including how I add additional graphic cards on a Desktop (Gaming) PC making a desktop mining Rig. I found this to be an economical way to expand my Desktop PC to mine with multiple GPUs when compared to the cost of building an entire Solo Mining Rig.
We will review a new Multi GPU Stand sent to us from PlastiXrevoluton - see link below

Keep up the good work! I really like your videos. You explain everything, so calm and composed. While others are noisy and showing off, you're such a nice guy, explaining everything sweetly... I am a newbie miner and all this content is really very helpful!! Cheers!❤️

Please can anyone explain to me how a GPU that runs on 16x or 8x, can function on a 1x riser/extender? To help me understand this. Is the only downside to the 1x/16x---- welll what is the downside? I always assumed, that the better GPUs require the full PCI lane because thats what the GPU needs to run. Is this "just" power? What about data?
For example. I have a current MSI z790 Edge Motherboard. It has a PCI 5.0 16x for GPU, and a Pcie 3 full 16x at the bottom.. Now that bottom one in my case has no room for a 1070 GTX GPU I have. So I have a RTX 2060 in my main slot, and I assumed I could add a 16x riser for the bottom slot. I have a PCIE 1x slot as well, so my question is, what is the downside or what is the application or use case for a riser that takes the 1x to 16x? I mean, why doesn the motherboard just keep it at 16x if theres no differene. Or make them all 1x?
I dont want to game with the second GPU, I want to mine. likewise, I have integrated GPU in my i7 13th gen. So can I use that for my monitor, and both the 2060 and 1070 for mining?
I would THINK that I would be best off or better off mining using these two cards on the bigget 16x lanes available. But this seems to suggest that for mining, all you need is x1 and the 16x is just a form factor.
is that the case??? *no pun intended*
please let me know!
Another fantastic video!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Great video! Just starting out on this journey, very informative and to my level of understanding, thank you

@@CryptoMiningInsider if I may ask a question, what is the best spect pc to start off with at this moment in time for ethereum / ETC mining ?
@@RH-nh4gc I know more about cards and Rigs than PCs. Look around there are deals if you hunt for them. I would suggest looking for PCs with full hash rate cards if you can get at a reasonable price. I would only suggest for mining to stay away from the new RTX 3080 12 GB card since they mine at very low hash rate.
Also keep in mind that Ethereum is supposed to change to Proof of Stake in near future so look for hardware that can mine even other alt cons even if you can't mine Ethereum. Be prepared for that to happen in future (it maybe be sooner or later than anyone can anticipate)

Hey great video...I am a complete newbie trying to connect a MSI Geforce RTX 3080 to Asrock H110 Motherboard...why are you connecting a Molex at the back of the computer and to which port? THANKS.
The Molex was to connect the fans for the GPU stand - I had a Molex available on other side of my pc case
Awesome tutorial as usual! Question please - Should I plug in the PCIE riser to the PCIEx4 slot or the PCIEx1 slot in my mobo? The PCIEx16 is in use of course by my first GPU. Thanks!
I usually try to use free 1x slots 1st if available. Some BOBOs split the PCIE Slot up between a NVME and PCIE so not all may be free to use.
I always make sure Everything is powered off (PC Unplugged) before plugging and unplugging anything on MOBO

I too started mining on my main PC. Had 2 rx580s jerry rigged on the side with usb cables through the case going to risers
We just want to get these cards mining
So are there 2 power supplies or just 1?
Where do u get those long cables? Im looking for PCIE EXTENSORS
Are you referring to the GPU Riser cables (USB cable) or from server power supply ?
I assume the power supply - they came from parallel miner as port of a Server PSU Kit - You can buy 36" 6-8 Pin Server SPU cables from them.

Mining is a serious rabbit hole lol
200 % Agree. Once you taste it.... Game Over... Pulled in
How do I get the money to get my first rig I only have 300 bucks which is my life savings
Great vid, im trying to figure out how to add second psu to a mobo that akready has gpu running in it and mining so i can add more gpu on a riser on the side..
Easiest to use a server power Supply, but if you want to connect another ATX power supply there is a 24 pin cable to remote start a 2ns power supply when the 1st is started.
@@CryptoMiningInsider i just found out about getting 24 mobo splitter cable and do it like that, thx

Thanks, my Friend !
by connecting a second graphic card do you get better MH/s? Sorry im new to this.
adding a 2nd card can give you more (higher) hashrate, but also used more power
I have my work / gaming desktop used for mining too (3080 TI). I have another desktop with mining GPUs (2x 3080) and a 3rd desktop with 3090.
We sound alike : )
Mine... Mine and then mine some more
@@CryptoMiningInsider im going to put these 2X 3080 and 3090 in one computer to save space and power.
@@appacana that;s a Lot of hash power and requires a lot of watts from the power supply - make sure you size everything safely - including wires, etc. All 3 of those cards make a lot of heat - so make sure to have space and ventilation.
hey im doing the same but i got a problem, hoping a help i have 5 gpus connected to my pc this way. it works for mining perfect but im trying to set my highest gpu dedicated for my gaimng, using nvidia control panel setting high end gpu as dedicated, but on my task manager shows workload on different gpu when im gaming, i tired switching to other but still on same card. any suggestions
I believe you can specify which GPU to use for programs via NVidia Control Panel, but I don't do this normally in a multi GPU PC for gaming so I don't know the exact details.
Hello...My question is what was the last thing you plugged into the back of the pc before you plugged the power supply
Its either a Molex connector for the Fan for the GPU stand or the GPU Riser Cable I assume
The molex connector for the fan where did you plug that up to..thank you in advance..your awesome
@@taniaramos1691 Waiting for answer too Lol
Point me to the video where you can teach me how to add the overclock into the batch file on MB minor. These zotec cards aren't that great are they?
ruclips.net/video/kLoEZSV_qJM/видео.html
You should do a video on how to install an M.two USB plug came to the wrong time and that way you can avoid the PCA smaller insert altogether or you should buy one four-way PCA adapter
I have a 4 way splitter, occasionally use them when I run out of slots. My Motherboard in my latest Gaming PC stinks - Always boots into BIOS if I try to add more than 2 GPUs even when I tried the 4 way splitter.

Can you give details about the cable
can any type of motherboard have 2 graphic cards? my motherboard is ddr3.
It depends on the # of PCIE slots and # of Lanes motherboard can support. Google your motherboard model and GPU mining and see if others have posted info about it

Yes, GPU Mining is not nearly as intensive as Gaming or rendering images that typically require GPUs to be on a x16 bus for the high amounts of data transfers between the CPU, GPU, MOBO. For mining a 1x slot has worked fine in the past. With the new POUW coins (Proof of Useful Work) this new GPU mining will be more resource intensive and require the GPU on wider slots.
Do you repad the 3080s? I see in lots of your video and temperature of the unitsseem to be only at upper 80s and 90 max.
No repads (yet). Need to do for few, but I don't want to void warranty (or am I procrastinating ?)
Do not do it unless ur experienced. I just repad mine yesterday because my 3090 only mined 105mh hitting 108c and now my card dont work.
I did a ton of research before I decide to repad and it ain't that simple, I might be doing something wrong but a cheaper better alternative is buying those heat shield thingy for the backplate and attaching/ ziptying a cpu fan on the back
@@billlam7756 I am avoiding repadding mine - too risky for me. When my cards run too hot I try to lower the OC and vent them better - accept lower hash rate too
@@CryptoMiningInsider yea I was like that for over a year until i got greedy lol. Luckily I only work on the 2 cards (not working) and not all my 3080s/90s. So yea, dont do it unless you know exactly what ur doing.

And sir when i i put hdmi cable in that fault gpu shows no display but fan keep spinning ??😭
Sounds like a Bad Riser or its not connected to motherboard properly - check all wires - power and USB if a riser.
Power Off, Unplug the Graphics card (and Riser) and plug them all back in.
When windows Starts if it's not seeing card in device manager - right click - select scan for new devices (do few times to see if it finds it).
If still not working and GPU is on a riser - try replacing the riser.
Most likely a loose plug.
