There is a VIN position, but in my case it was empty. I didn't have engine turned on, so it can be it. But still RNS-E would read VIN from ECU since VIN is not stored in RNS-E unit.
Hope to hear from you after you check if the VIN is displaying in the engineering menu.

+mr-fix do you know of a common problem when it says that cd was not properly inserted ? I just tried some maps today and it says that, it makes some clicks and sounds, and scratches the disk a bit each time I put it in. Could it just be dust on the lens ? I just got the car and it is possible that CD was not used in a while.
It makes a 2mm scratch at the same distance from disk center, probably touches something when it starts to spin it.

Lens can be dusty or some of the drive parts can me broken.
I believe you have to remove the RNS-E unit from the car, open it and check the lens.
Remember that radio pin code might be needed to turn it on back.
As a typical layman may i ask what do you need this for?
Can you change the display color from orange to red or something?

Bluetooth was a separate module that you need to install in your car. It’s not just as simple as activating it.

You can go with factory options (which will work only for phone calls) or you can go with 3rd party devices (which can also play music trough bluetooth and USB drives). Check devices from Yatour and Dension.

Hi I have tried to Enter hidden menu (engineering mode) but nothing happens. I have watched your you video and followed what you said but nothing. anyway I have ordered a GPS and waiting for it to be delivered.I owe a 2005 A4 3.0 convertible Have RNS-E Factory fitted cant get the TV to work ether I took cover off the boot lid so I can check connections and all looks ok (I have Pictures if you would like me to send to you )

All RNS-E units have CD/TV button but TV is optional extension. Are you sure that your car is equipped with TV tuner?
Thanks for reply, I ask because I've lost 13k on buying a car that was a clone (yes I did all the checks you do before buying a car) but had I new about the the hidden menu in the bmw in my case I could have pulled up the vi tru the hidden menu.im going to buy a a3 special edition so will be using your vid to pull up the vin.

No. Any kind of activation in RNS-E needs to be performed with diagnostic tool like OBDeleven or VCDS.
Can y9u get into this way if y9u don't have the pin? Lock code or so forth to get the serial number....

+Ali Rashel-Miah you can activate AUX with VCDS. Check my other video about that.
If you want to use SD card make sure that it's NOT SDHC or SDXC. Only standard SD cards work (max. 2GB).
Thank you for the response. It was all very petty, I bought a standard SD card but wouldn't work... Just cause it's 16gb. I just got aux cable fitted, better.

+mr-fix that 2GB thing might be wrong, I currently use an 8GB SD card, unit looks 100% the same.
Card is formatted as Fat32

1. You can have RNS-E 2010 edition (with higher resolution screen, newer hardware and few other minor changes).
2. Your cards firmware can work around RNS-E limitations
3. I might be wrong about the non-SDHC/SDXC limitation

GPS antenna is on the car. Check behind the RNS-E unit if everything is connected properly (GPS antenna uses blue plug).

+Michael Constantinides it should be under the dashboard. Usually above instrument cluster, sometimes above fuses on the side.

mam problem z radiem, przy odpaleniu pokazuje mi błąd "cd/dvd is unreadable please check the cd/dvd" jak to naprawić??
Sprawdzić z inną płytą w napędzie za ekranem. Jeżeli błąd nadal pozostanie, to winny jest uszkodzony/zabrudzony napęd.
problem w tym że nawi nie przyjmuje żadnych płyt, czyściłem go ale dalej to samo..
czyli napęd może być uszkodzony.
Przy wlaczaniu radia słychać że kręci ale potem przestaje, płyt nie chce pobrać

I have 2005 Audi Allroad with Navigation Plus RNS-E.But my CD/DVD Drive isn't working and every time i'm doing the last point,it says : CD/DVD Drive not functioning and i can't get to that menu.Thanks.
Is it on the C5 platform or the C6 platform? I'm asking because C6 platform does not use RNS-E but MMI.
Anyway CD/DVD drive errors are mostly coused by broken or dusted laser. You can try to use a clining cd (but no warranty that it will not damage it more) or remove your RNS-E unit and have it serviced in electronic garage.
It is C5.And the DVD -Drive doesn't take CD/DVDs even in.And also, i can't reach the hidden menu,because all the time i'm trying to get there,it says : CD/DVD drive not functioning.

No. This is diagnostic menu for the RNS-E module only. Features that you want are coded in other modules.

Can anyone please tell me if it is possible to change some of the coding using this method? Or is something like VAG-com required.
I ask because a friend of mine has a RNS-E that will not play from the AUX port. We need to check and maybe change the next to last number in the coding, but do not have access to VAG-com.

Jeff Evans AFAIK you need VAG-COM or other diagnostic tool to change RNS-E coding. In Audi MMI it's possible to change coding without diagnostic tool but first you have to unlock the hidden menu with VAG-COM. :)
