This man and this song made me buy a guitar and start learning . I am almost 54 but with all the attitude. Today I got my new guitar. Wish me luck. God bless you all !
That is exactly the inspiration that you need during a lockdown. I hope you bought a good one with a solid spruce or cedar top that keeps you inspired at a decent price, such as a Cort Earth, an Ibanez Artwood or a Seagull S6/ Simon & Patrick SP6 from the Canadian Godin group.
I've watched him 3 times. I've met him twice. Second time when we met, after 4, 5 years, he remembered me from first time. Such a wonderful person and brilliant guitar player from another planet! Nothing but huge respect to Tommy!
I bought the journals of Lewis and Clark after learning this song, the first Tommy song I learned. Ever since I've also picked up the habit of reading, so, well, this was life changing for me
What a master !...I had the great pleasure to see him live, some years ago, in Paris (Olympia) : he played a 20 min gig, as an impromptu substitute for Alvin Lee, who had passed away, some days before... He was so good, that the opening act killed the rest of the show ! No one can play after Tommy Emmanuel.
So crazy that a Tommy can put into music the adventure and emotion that Lewis and Clark must have felt, yet somehow it can still resonate with everyone. Absolutely beautiful.
Haven’t ever played guitar but I have a love for music and this song right here. My god. It’s just filled with beauty. Not as complex as classical gas but arguably one of the best and most well written songs he’s played. This song fills me with every emotion. Brings memories of the past brings memories of nature and the mountains. It’s incredible. Words can’t describe the way he plays this song. His live one is better than the studio recording. It’s insane how he makes the sounds he makes.
One of the best books I ever read on the exploits of Lewis and Clark. And it takes an Aussie to write a fabulous instrumental depicting this great novel. Great job TE.
The song is something special. I live in clark county indiana just north of Louisville kentucky. I still live near the site of where lewis and clark interacted with my indians relatives. I am a decentent of george Rodgers clark. Thank you tommy you give me great inspiration. I look forward to playing for you at your concert in Louisville during the meet and greet. I've been practicing my indiana style pickin as I call it.
Amazing! What a great tribute to the two men who discovered, charted and tried to convey the true scope of wilderness and beauty of this country before it was known. The opening tribute to the Native Americans was inspiring.
Yes, the story of what Lewis and Clark experienced is remarkable to say the least. Music is subjective and I think this composition by Tommy is awesome. It truly captures a primitive feeling of sorts. I listen to it and vision myself being on the expedition floating down a river in a canoe with eyes wide open. What will I see around the next bend?? It's wonderful!
I loved that you didn't know who Lewis and Clark were until you read about them. I believe you nailed it musically my friend. My own feelings were telling me Tommy Emanuel could put the song "Lewis and Clark " to a documentary about the two !!
I am 71...started playing at 17...played for 20+years...then family and career happened...felt taught...picked up finger style...don't know why or how...didn't play for 25 years...had to relearn chords...still working on that...but for some reason...finger picking just came back...muscle memory or something...wish that I had kept with it... o well...I had a family and career that came first...
@@susanmcrill-stefanowski7852 Started playing at 16 (1964), most likely because of the Beatles. Wanted to play the bass but somehow was deflected to guitar. Played mainly R&R and Blues, garage band and clubs. Stopped during medical school and building a family. Picked it up again at the urging of a friend in the late '90s, primarily playing Strats but I was the guy called on to play the acoustic sets, play jazz chords and Travis pick. During Covid, I got the stupid idea to learn fingerstyle and have NO ability to have an independent thumb. I am cursed.
Or from the native americans who were "befriended", raped, murdered, their national land stolen, some even enslaved... and to this day many of whom are not recognized by the US government as a people.
Your tecnic kill your melodys tems ... You are anderstend me? I am russian welder.. Old50 )) were young i to play than you..))) realy... On the bass(stanly clarck, tonny.. ..) you ! I hear you 10-12 year to this and i love your playing now.
fab guitar player, great music but that guitar tone is just horrible. don’t know if its the guitar, pick up or what. sounds like a mix of balloons and hoovers and god knows what, doesn’t even sound like an acoustic half the time. strange tone to choose for such a great player, each to there own though.

Meanwhile somewhere in the world, someone is trying to burn or smash his guitar...😁
Super cool! Hows the guitar going??
Good luck man! Don't even give a second thought about giving up, keep going!
Good luck, hope it's all going well :)

It's like a movie soundtrack.
This man has the spirit of God in his entire being! There is no other finger style guitarist alive today with such power!
Estas Tonne would like a word with you ;-)
Everything about this song is right.

This is by far my favorite song by Tommy Emmanuel
Love this one❤️
Love Tommy playing, who ever put him down with a negative like is obviously, some one that don't know notting about guitars or music!!
I think youtube is putting some percentage of likes in dislikes cuz lets be honest who would dislike this
There's bound to be wannabe envy when someone's as special as Tommy is.
The buttons are prey close they probably misscliked

Perfect. He is the master.
Lovely, and as inspiring as the story of Lewis and Clark. Thank you Tommy!
Wonderful! What an artist and musical story teller.

Totally subjective. Chet is still legend and musical giant and so is Tommy.
Love it🎼🎶🎸♥🌹
Tommy.....wow pretty little college. To me you just painted a beautiful picture with your music...just incredible...
He keeps inspiring me to continue to learn and play my guitar. Saw him in concert in Dec of last year - he was great,
Reeks of tantalizing adventure!

Tommy u should do a collab with the great André Rieu !!
Beautiful, but after watching him, I don't know whether I want to try harder or just stop playing. Learning fingerstyle at 72 is tough.
Keep going, Tommy himself says he wants to inspire people. If it gives you pleasure to play, it doesn't matter how good you are :)
Go for it...you will develop your own style in time...don't try to imitate...

Technically it's in Portland but close enough. Been to Trails inn while you in town?
When will you return to Düsseldorf?

Funny, I thought the title was just the wrong spelling of Lois (Lane) and Clark (Kent).
"...made friends with the indians, it was a beautiful story." So tragic what actually happened...
