8.5 stop IBIS, dynamic active stab, A7R5 screen, AI auto focus, 4k 60fps fullframe, 4k 120fps APSC crop, better thermal handling and dual CFExpress card slots. No need of higher mega pixel, no need for higher than 4K sensor. Current 33MP, 4K sensor is good enough. Reduced weight and slight increase in height to fit the pinky will be an added bonus.
So are saying there are likely no significant features that would justify paying more for the upcoming a7V and it would be a much better deal to get the a7IV, considering their spec to price ratio? When will we know the price and specs of a7V?
It’s all predictions, but looking at the industry as a whole, I personally don’t see why Sony would need to spend more money on adding tech that people won’t realistically use. They’d also have to pass that cost on to us. So I believe this series will upgrade some features whilst also keeping costs low. What features? We’d all love to know that! But it won’t have everything. This series is a budget full frame camera after all. The noises say end Q1 or early Q2 for release, so we’ll see.
I have the A74 and recently upgraded the A7R3 to the A7R5. I have to add that that I bought the A7R5 for my personal wildlife photography. I would like the A75 to have the rear folding screen and the Auto Focus of the A7R5 plus 4k120. That being said I wouldn’t upgrade if that was all it offered as I have R5! Sony has so many different models, and the A74 is still so good, that I am not sure what the A75 would offer to make an upgrade necessary.
I think you’ve just hit the nail on the head. Sony has so many cameras at different price points. If they loaded the A74 with top specs, there’s no reason for the others in their line-up to exist. And it sounds like you have everything you need right there 👏
honestly all I would need is 15-20 fps shooting, and ai autofocus, with faster readout speeds, and a better body, and I would probably upgrade. maybe a nicer looking lcd screen as well
The Sony A7V will mean nothing overall for Sony because they still sell the A7RIII, the A7III, which still sells well. The A7IV will still be selling, at a lower price, but it will still sell after the A7V. The A7V will have to keep up with Canon with pre capture, shoot in 4k-60 without a crop, flip screen and have to have the AI chip, which even the A6700 has. The 10fps will have to be boosted.
All good points. I think the changes will be incremental. But we should see 4K 60 with no crop and I’d also hope for 15 or more fps in photos. And as you say, there’s a reason why they sell the older series. The A7IV is great value!
It will need much better IBIS and 15 - 20 FPS for photography. If they stick with an APSC mode it needs to be upgraded to around 20 MP. They will be forced to do something special with it as the competition have upped their game while remaining at an affordable price range.
It will be interesting to see. As Sony will also be aware of what else is in their line-up. So if they pack this and don’t upgrade the more expensive options they’ll put themselves into a corner. So I think this camera will probably be affected by updates elsewhere in the Sony hierarchy.
@@Elijah-Peterson04 i dare to say that the a7 v will may still compete with the original R5, too bad Canon has the huge disadvantage of the lens selection..
@@stenafbingo, I got my first mirrorless interchangeable lens camera in May of last year. Honestly, between Panasonic, Nikon, Cannon, and Sony. Sony came in dead last dollar for dollar, but I ended up going with a Sony A7iv just because of all of the third party lenses in particular. As a matter of fact the only first party lens I own is the kit lens. Yet I have a 10mm f2.8, 20mm f2.8, 28mm f4.5, 85mm f1.4, 17-28mm f2.8, 28-60mm f4-5.6, and a 50-400mm f4.5-6.3. Plus a Nikon adapter for my manual F-mount lens. The 50-400mm alone sold me on Sony.
@@xsterawesome yes exactly, with canon for example you might get manage to get a cheaper body specs for specs vs sony, but then you lose everything with the lenses. Unless you are stinking rich and you can go for the top canon line. I wish they allowed third parties man… they would get more customers
@@stenaf Even when they do like Nikon and L-mount there isn't enough customer base to justify companies making lenses. I kinda wish sony would just license the FE lens mount to other camera manufacturers at this point, I think there are some cinema cameras that they did just that on. But even if I had to pay three or four hundred dollars extra for the E-mount version I would go for it.
I think sony have to include 4k 120fps to stay competitive. Even if it means it’s cropped 4k 120 it has to have that’s option as even cheaper cameras such as a6700 has 4k 120 as a crop sensor!
I’ll be really intrigued how they approach this. Also if they did add it, how reliable it would be with heat and power consumption. If it’s a 44mp sensor as rumoured, that’s a lot of data to crunch full frame!
@ I agree, I don’t know how reliable it will be but I think they need to just be able to have it on the specs sheet to stay competitive with other cameras such as the canon r5 mark 1 which is at a similar price point now as to what the the sony a7V would be. Main thing i’m hoping for is 4k 60 with no crop!
I guess it depends on how competitive they feel they have to be, as people normally buy into the eco systems. So few are reluctant to change everything…lenses etc. Also, it will depend on what specs they have in the likes of the A7s IV / FX3 II I reckon!
@@PaulGarrity Yeah I think if they are pushing 8k with a7s line and fx3 and they will include 4k 120 in a7v but i completely agree it all depends on the specs of the a7s and fx3 lines

I have an a74. Mostly a great camera but do you know why if you are shooting video in SLOG3, then switch to photo, it appears to shoot photos in log format? Also, photos come out extremely darker for some reason and is almost unreliable. I've shot on the A7r4 for years before I picked up the a74 so not sure why this is happening.
Yes, I found that annoying too. I think it’s because of the introduction on the switch at the top? Anyway, this is only by default and you can change it thankfully. Go to: SETTINGS - OPERATION CUSTOMIZE - DIFFERENT SET FOR STILL / MV You can put a tick in the picture profile setting. And now the camera will separate the picture profile settings for video and photo for you. I hope that helps? 🙂👍
Make sure that you separate your settings for video and photo mode in your menu because they are not separated by default. If you don't do so, you will be taking photos in Slog, which will lack contrast. Also keep your eye on your white balance as you can go into any preset or Kelvin Count mode and tweak the color barrier. If nothing works, do a factory reset, which will put things back to factory and just shoot photos first, if this helps, then separate your photo and video modes in the menu and you should be fine.
@@auomi8762 okay let’s start here first, click on your menu button, go down to set up, which is the last icon, then go to operation customize, then go to different settings for movie and video.
