Thank you! The microphones save the audio files as the Pocket 3 does with its video/audio. So plug in via the USB and the files are listed and you just drag and drop. No programmes needed. Really easy!

@@PaulGarrity Thanks, I’m assuming imported as an audio track would match the length of that particular video clip and sync at the same frame rate. Will let you know, headed off to Hungary tomorrow to try these!

@InnocentsAbroad in my testing, unfortunately not. They will need syncing in post. The audio files are around 23 minutes max in length and need stitching. Time code would solve the sync issue. But not device is perfect!

The microphones aren’t waterproof. I haven’t used them in the elements yet - but I would use them in the field with lavs if it was raining. But of course that’s personal preference.

Oh, I know why- because it appears Paul is just like our channel, and a very few others I know- would rather produce quality than a “look at me being sensational/Clickbait” sort.

Thank you! When it comes to ND filters, I’m a fan of keeping it simple. So I went for a set from K&F. I just want light control and the standard 4, 8, 16 & 32 work great. And with the solid variable ISO in camera, I find that combo works. I hope that helps! 👍

In that case all those big car companies should go bankrupt. They upgrade cars 2-3 years later sometimes 5-6 years later. People still buy it and they earn good. Also Apple earnings are now diverted towards services. They are earnings from subscription now as compared to product sales as subscription model gives them more profit with less investment. And that's what Tesla is doing too. Charging for navigation, self driving beta and SOS emergency system. They are shifting their revenue model as subscription provides them with constant revenue and with sufficient cash flow.

@@PaulGarrity just took it outside for a test run on a local hike and I'm very impressed! Face tracking is great and the audio records really well with or without the mic. Also using the case as a mic holder is an unexpectedly helpful addition!

Yeah the action cameras do tend to lack that finish, you’re right. The P3 really has shocked me at its shift in quality - totally bucks the trend!

The channel gemini connect made a point that the one inch sensor being so wide on an action camera would make minimum focus length more awful than it is already. Never heard anyone mention that logic before. True or not, it's interesting

Hi, it’s entirely up to you on the effect you’d like. For me personally, I just use a standard ND filter. I like to shoot the image as I see it and edit/grade later. Because polarisers tend to alter the image, it’s not the look I’m after. Hope that helps 👍

@PaulGarrity can I know, how does it alter the image? I just got the nd/pl, but I could return it back and get the normal nd.

@raveen251189 Polarisers are artistic filters. They cause shifts in colour and light - for example they make the blue skies more intensely blue. But the effect changes when you turn the filter. But the downside is some of the light is blocked to the sensor and you can lose light stops. But if the intention is to make it look ‘arty’ then it’s perfect. But I don’t use PL ND’s. I’m also not a fan of the added complexity of getting the polariser dialled in. But many people love them. It’s all down to preference 👍

I certainly not the only one who feels let down by this. But like you, I hope we see a change. But I’m not sure where cameras go next - because the current crop are so good. Will take something big for people to leap to the next generation for sure!

@@PaulGarrity if Sony updated the A7s iii to what, it’s sister camera, the FX3 has been upgraded to, you would not need an a7s 4. You are right. Outside of global shutter, there is nothing more that I need in the A7s iii. It’s more mental, knowing that Sony had the FX3 waiting in the wings, and I got duped into thinking the A7s iii was going to be the true flagship. It’s not, so I am salty about that, but I would still stay in the Sony system and get an FX3 when I have the money for a second camera.

There’s lots of people who feel the same I’m sure. Let’s just hope we see something different moving forward.

For my line of work I’d probably only use them as BTS type cameras, but I’m sure as you say you can hook these up for different angles. But like you, I’m not a fan of the novelty shots!

Some of us are, I have an X4 and as a business I use it in all cases, certainly for real estate (not sure why anyone would use 2D imaging anymore), destination travel, mapping, sports, POV etc. . Even with lower resolution being fully 100% immersed in a space or area is waaaaay more impactful than any 2D image with better resolution telling only a fraction of the story. As ease and resolution improves (and costs lower ie: Titan, Obsidian, Meta) these 360 cameras, will replace (like the 8 track) 2D images soon. I have an X3 as well, might try the 2 camera shoot some time. Thx

maybe not what you want to hear, but the R5C with the new batteries does everything the FX3 does better, minus the IBIS and a stop of dynamic range in the shadows.

I’m sure there will be many more people who are unhappy with the situation. I really like the A7s and used it for work yesterday. But I believe future releases really need to be better handled.

All good points 👍 I guess we all make the choices that suits us. There’s so much on offer these days, and as you say, many good options from previous generations of cameras too. We’re so fortunate we have so many options!

@@PaulGarrity Sony seems to be a very hierarchical company so it is unlikely there's much communication between the A7 and FX departments in Japan. I shot ENG Betacam then full frame video for many years but now, with a mixture of legacy FS5s and FS7s, it is a huge relief to be working in S35. IMO, it remains the sweet spot for movies. Whilst the latest sensors are 'better', you often pay a high price if you are an early adopter. Most Sony cameras are not fully featured until after several firmware updates. FX9 buyers moving up from the FS7 were shocked when the FX6 was released and many FX9 owners I meet today remain frustrated with it. Nearly every working A7Siii and FX3 or FX30 I see are on a gimbal which proves their 'movie' ergonomics don't work. Anybody who has shot ENG style cameras knows this so it not all about pixel peeping. The Sony Burano ticks most boxes with on board 4:4:4 capture but to justify owning one, you would need a steady supply of very high end clientele. Many young video makers today have come from the 'stills' world so seek the Holy Grail of so called 'cinematic' images yet many show a complete misunderstanding of the relationship between frame rate & shutter angle. Go figure!

It’s certainly the modern world we live in. But the issue I had was the need for both cameras? I guess Sony are a sensor company, so if they have a lot in production, they’ll make cameras for them!

@@PaulGarrity I do question the point of the A7Siii (with gimped video features) in the context of having a slightly more expensive FX3 in their lineup (with superior video features). It would have made more sense for the FX3 to have been the cheaper body i.e. only good for video but kept the A7siii priced higher as the hybrid option with all the same video features as the FX3.

Yes, it’s all very head scratching. I can understand not going all out on specs, leaves very little room for future releases. But unfortunately we’re sometimes left wondering why certain choices were made.

Yeah, doesn’t make a lot of sense does it? It was supposed to be the video first option (before the FX3 was made) and the video first Sony’s have shutter angle (FX6 etc). We can’t be the only ones confused by all this haha! 😜

I can only speak from my experience, as I’ve not had any issues. When the Ace Pro 2 comes out next year, it’ll be great as always 👌👌
