I bought my Sony A7Siii for a video purposes, after watching weeks of youtube reviews, i have decided to get the A7Siii and not the FX3. all of them was saying that the A7Siii and FX3 are the same camera and both low light kings. I said alright, if it is the same camera, then i prefer to have that extra viewfinder and photos capability and i prefer black camera and not gray. A month after i bought my A7Siii, they released updates for FX3 and completely changed the game. Now they added Luts and Shutter angle wich i, as a videographer really need. They completely ditched the A7Siii. I have never felt so scammed before like i feel right now because my main purpose was Videography. Like, its 8k bucks of gear went to trash because of how sony presented both cameras on RUclips. Please sony, if you read this, i am willing to pay more, i am willing to buy license if its possible for every videography upgrade you add to FX3, AFTER i bought my A7Siii. Please hear us
maybe not what you want to hear, but the R5C with the new batteries does everything the FX3 does better, minus the IBIS and a stop of dynamic range in the shadows.
I’m sure there will be many more people who are unhappy with the situation. I really like the A7s and used it for work yesterday. But I believe future releases really need to be better handled.
It's crazy that only this year the FX3 got shutter angle and the A7SIII doesn't have it, especially when you look into Panasonic that has shutter angle since the GH5 that was released in 2017...
Yeah, doesn’t make a lot of sense does it? It was supposed to be the video first option (before the FX3 was made) and the video first Sony’s have shutter angle (FX6 etc). We can’t be the only ones confused by all this haha! 😜
Well, Sony is suffering what made canon go down, when Sony took up...if you want a better body, they want you to go with a burano or a more expensive body. I used an a7rv lately for video, and definitely, the color science got an update in terms of skin tone highlights... something that they could give us in a firmware update 😅
I certainly agree with you, they seem to have lost their tether at the moment. They have really expanded their camera offering, and the structure has gone awry. I’ve been using the A7IV a lot more recently, and the results are 👌 thank you so much for the message! 🙌
the sony A1 also was left behind. I'm pretty sure it can be added so many more new features but they decided to forget it. For example , it can shoot 8k but it seems that the raw is capped at 4k which is BS. I hope they Introduce Braw internally at some point
Yes, it’s all very head scratching. I can understand not going all out on specs, leaves very little room for future releases. But unfortunately we’re sometimes left wondering why certain choices were made.
sony made two cameras that embodied the "potential" capabilites of both. There should have never been an a7s iii. the people i know, who bought the as7 iii, thought at the time, as it was touted, that it was going to be the low-light movie beast. little did we know that sony was going to play tricks and immediately come out withe the low-light "CINEAMA" beast: the FX3. I would never have gotten the as7 iii because i am not a hybrid shooter. I wanted what the were putting out at the time to be what the FX3 was, but did not know that they would dupe me into the as7 iii first. nothing i can do now but continue to not get firmware updates and wait for the FX3 ii so i can buy the original FX3 to be my 2nd cam to the a7s iii.
I certainly not the only one who feels let down by this. But like you, I hope we see a change. But I’m not sure where cameras go next - because the current crop are so good. Will take something big for people to leap to the next generation for sure!
@@PaulGarrity if Sony updated the A7s iii to what, it’s sister camera, the FX3 has been upgraded to, you would not need an a7s 4. You are right. Outside of global shutter, there is nothing more that I need in the A7s iii. It’s more mental, knowing that Sony had the FX3 waiting in the wings, and I got duped into thinking the A7s iii was going to be the true flagship. It’s not, so I am salty about that, but I would still stay in the Sony system and get an FX3 when I have the money for a second camera.
Man i updated my s3 to 3.02 my internal mic and speakers re not working now, the sony support is trashhhhh...... no replies even the service centers are whackk
The problem is, this is all by design... Sony's game is to make you buy as many bodies as possible by artificially gimping their models to be good only in narrow use cases... Sony could have easily given the A9/9ii video profiles and made that line a superior hybrid (a A7m3 pro if you will) but that would have been too good
It’s certainly the modern world we live in. But the issue I had was the need for both cameras? I guess Sony are a sensor company, so if they have a lot in production, they’ll make cameras for them!
@@PaulGarrity I do question the point of the A7Siii (with gimped video features) in the context of having a slightly more expensive FX3 in their lineup (with superior video features). It would have made more sense for the FX3 to have been the cheaper body i.e. only good for video but kept the A7siii priced higher as the hybrid option with all the same video features as the FX3.
