    They all sound really close. I think I actually liked the Synergy SLO module the most, which I guess isn’t too surprising since Mike Soldano himself worked with Synergy to create that module. But you can’t go wrong with any of them.

    I got a Mesa DC5 close to a year ago now and it made me instantly sell my 6505. The DC5 has such a great sound and a clean sound that is TOO good at times. A high gain amp like the DC5 has no business having such a damn good clean channel.

    Synergy took it there. The pedal sounded just as good as the avenger and the cute paper weight was quite a bit behind ...but its always going to depend on what the pedal is going through to power it. The pickups are 498t? I find mine super sensitive to being near speakers or mics

    • @belligerentamateur
      @belligerentamateur  Год назад +4

      Yep, 498t. Gibson doesn't pot most of their pickups so they tend to be noisey if you're close tot he amp

    Pro gamer tip:
    If you set the cathode switch on the Synergy SLO module to position "1" you will have a much tighter and modern sounding lowend that will take a boost incredibly well if you want a more modern sound on the red channel! :D I freakin love how it chugs!

  • @brunvanderhorst

    Yeah the preamp would colour it to an extent, but I can’t find anywhere what the proper use of for this pedal. It isn’t in the online manual either.
    Pete Thorn was quite positive it’s voiced to be ran in the preamp, you were quite certain to its best use being as a preamp.
    How do we really know?
    All I can go by is two short shots in the promo video of it going straight in the front input of both a Soldano and another amp. But that’s like 2 seconds worth of video and the rest is unclear what’s happening.
    Guess we need Soldano to clarify.
    But if it sounds good 🙃 and it did in both your video and Pete’s (and many others)!
    Thanks for the comparison! Guess I’ll get the pedal 😁 was looking for a good SLO clone pedal but now I don’t have to 🎉
    Edit: Also, after watching some more of the video I wanted to comment on this part too. The mini and pedal for sure are not the same internally. I tried the mini from a friend for fun in the rehearsal space. If you lower your guitar volume, the mini sounds like it's dying while trying to sound high-gain, while in all the pedal videos it responds so well to lowering the volume and turning almost bluesy.

    • @belligerentamateur
      @belligerentamateur  Год назад +2

      If a pickup isn't wax potted, it tends tto have more clarity and high end, but will squeal under high gain, if it is potted, it will not squeal as easily under gail, but the highs and clarity will be rolled off a little.

    • @81giorikas
      @81giorikas Год назад

      @@josephbutler148 IF you want to boost (which Kyle here does a lot) the 100K plate resistors are a good mod to the SLO circuit and...the avenger has just that. The gain pot is 1M to acount for less resistance earlier in the SLO vs avenger but to be honest the ticking part of the two engines is the same. The avenger has 1 gain stage less, drops the gain a lot before going out to the loop and from there it IS different because the loop is pretty much...unbuffered but uses the plate out resistor and drop resistor to create a 2-4K output load. Whereas the SLO uses half a tube to buffer and shits things up for a lot of pedals there etc...THEN people mod that point and bring it down to...avenger levels.
      The return circuit again works a bit better in the avenger, huge recovery there. So if you like to plug preamps there the avenger maybe a bit better.
      The other differences are a bit less smoothing in the caps after the PI but no real difference worth mentioning and the depth knob (that changes everything). The transformers are a compression point as well.
      Bottom line, no clean channel, but the 1M pot balances that out the avenger should be a bit less gainier vs the lead SLO channel, maybe a bit less compressed or darker and then would take a boost there better than the SLO.
      BUT vs other amps? Pretty much brothers, almost twins.

  • @DLR1976
    @DLR1976 Год назад

    We can’t compare the SLO mini head circuit to the SLO pedal as the first is made in China 🇨🇳 and the pedal is hand made in USA 🇺🇸 that’s why i would take pedal over the mini head ;)
