I swear that everything you do a demo of, you make it sound incredible! I have seen a lot of demos of this pedal and it seems like it does the trick for sounding like the SLO100.
Thanks for the video! After your EQ video, using a MXR 108S after the guitar, and a BOSS EQ 200 at the end of my pedal train. All tones are available to me. Thank you for, no, non sense, straight information.
Many videos on this pedal came out yesterday but this is the best one I have seen. When you go through all the controls you are doing what every guitar player wants to hear. With respect to going straight into the poser amp you might want to try an OD or boost pedal in front of it. Thank you so much!
nice demo i been using this pedal for one side of my stereo rig the other has the friedman be deluxe pedal powered by a mosvalve 500 i got that chris poland owned to two marshall 4 12s using two helix hx effects one for each side the sound is huge)
Thanks for this great review! When Euge can make a distortion pedal sing, then I know it's for me as well :) It's better than the digital plug-ins anyway, as it doesn't smear the highs when crunching around...
Cool demo song! The new SLO pedal sounds pretty good! You need to try the new Ola CHUG pedal. It has some nice features, and I think it sounds really good from the demo he did with it. 😁🤘🏻
I bough one at great price as B-Stock from Thomann and i just can’t stop playing on it. I play it on the clean channel of my Elmwood M60. It gives more options along with my M60 preamp. I will also use it on the Torpedo CAB M+ for a lighter gig setup ;)
It's funny we are going opposite from the valvestate days where the thinking was tube preamp to solid state power amp, now we've got distortion pedals and kempers in front of power tube stages
Going to wait to hear the official released demos of the Two Notes Revolt Guitar first to see which sounds better. Revolt has Fender Bassman, Plexi (to hot rodded levels), and SLO channels, all analog and a single 12ax7 tube. It’s $400, but then you get three channels and tube sound with high plate voltage. The Soldano SLO pedal sounds great, just not sure I want to snap it up yet until I can compare to Revolt. Great playing Euge! Demo sounded very good.
One thing could be the Fredman miking technique I was using and which they used a lot back in the day. But on the other hand that same technique was used on Van Halen’s F.U.C.K. album and that’s totally different tone 😎. Thanks!
Hi Euge, i use boss sd-1w before my 800 with all the level up and the gain down ... How can the slo pedal handle that and how does it compare in that situationen? Greetings from germany and keep going 🤘🏻
Sounds great! By the way, will you make a video about new Revv Northern Mauler? I always enjoy your videos and I am curious about your opinion on the product.
Thru power amp u should have used deep switch. Just to see what it would sound like. Thru mics it sounds thin. every vid. thru the front end sounded full.
The Ola CHUG pedal looks like a good one. It has nice features, and I think it sounds great. So far, here is my list of good distortion pedals: Revv G3, MXR 5150, Ola Chug, Friedman BE-OD, KSR Ceres, Boss Waza Metal Zone, and maybe now this new SLO pedal.
No it’s more like a preamp with full frequencies while SD-1 is a mid boost overdrive with a narrow frequency boost=mids. Quite different pedals and what they’re designed to do. But SD-1 works really well in front of the SLO like with a real amp 👌.
Has anyone tried these kind of pedals ( soldano, diezel vh4-2 preamp,) etc on small amps at home? Asking because I have tried them with a Marshall dsl 1 watt head and it seems like you need a bigger wattage amp to handle these types of preamp or high gain pedals in general. On the smaller amps the sound gets muddy, loose and all the definition goes away. These pedals always sound good in demos when going into a 100 watt head or a DAW, but for those just jamming at home with an amp appropriate forhome use , what has been your experience? Is this really even an option?
It’s a pedal so there’s no watts and since it’s an overdrive / distortion it’s designed to be used with amps 😎🤟 No idea what that sound is but only one guy can sound like EVH and he is EVH 🙏.
It sounds good, but no built in noise gate for a brand new pedal in 2022? Man, Soldano really didn’t listen to their consumers. Chug pedal by Solar Guitars has every feature you’d want in a distortion pedal at a cheaper price point. This soldano pedal sounds rad, but seems about 6 years behind in times.
You dont need a noise gate if you know how to play and how to set the gain. If you want one so bad, why not buy a noisegate seperateley and use that one?
I use a separate noise gate. I’m not thinking for me, personally. I picked up my noise gate in 2004 when they were necessary, but new pedals coming out in 2022 should have more features than just a simple eq and distortions. Gates are very common in new distortion pedals, friend! All about efficiency and being economical. :)
As always, you make it sound fantastic. I love that you used it through an 800 that’s NOT the Bad Boy. Lol I put a V2 Hot Mod in my 89 JCM 800 a while ago and love that, still punch it in the face with a DS-1 mind you. After watching you here, I’m tempted to test drive the Soldano. Thx brother! 🤘
SORRY....The Marshall 1959 and 87 all tube overdrive blows the pedal away. I have heard many of your recordings with your various Marshall's, and they all sounded way better than this pedal recorded. Get a real SLO ...not the pedal.
1st guy NOT using a Friedman to demo this pedal(and he pays verbal homage to that tool, what the FUCK is it with Friedman, did HE design this pedal? I know they are a lot alike (despite them both bitching at Mesa they actually cop each other pretty shamelessly, it aint who you know it is who you blow!!!!)
It is kinda cheating when you put these pedals into a tube amp. Especially using a little of the amps dirt. It colors the sound too much. People need to demo these pedals through something like a Seymour Duncan Power Stage 170. But hey, these gear channel guys are supposed to make these things sound good, and they know how to make it sound good. That's why these companies send them gear to review. It's okay, i'm cool with it. Just know that these things will probably not sound like this if you buy one, and hook it to your rig. But you still might like it, so it's worth checking out.
@@TheCyberMantis NO,,,it is WHAT these pedals were designed for originally....I am not bitchibng or saying they are misusing the pedals...I am saying that it is NOT really a fair Demo to put that pedal (the pre from a soldano slo) in fron t of a Friedman amp or similar amp because you are really demo'ing that amp...you want to impress me, put it in front of a Fender amp and get it screaming (THAT is what the pedal is for, putting in front of a DISSIMILAR amp and getting that Soldano sound(or that is what it is SUPPOSED to do, )...I have seen so far one person (two actually) put it in front of a Soldano and use it as a pre amp (they bitched it is not designed for this purpose)....put it in front of an actual SLO (duhh it sounded good) and use it varioius ways in front of a Friedman amp(again, who can even tell the difference between a Friedman and an SLO...NOT ME)...several things are apparent, this pedal is NOT the SLO pre amp at all, and while it sounds remarkably like an SLO in front of an SLO or FRiedman...this means shit because who is spending 4000 on an amp then buying this fucking pedal to put in front....LIKE I SAID...this pedal should only be demo'd in front of a Fender or Peavey practice amp...that is a TEST (AND I BET it sounds like shit....in fact...I bet it sounds like a Boss Metal Zone (which is what SEVERAL people have said about this pedal when NOT in front of a Boutique amp!!!)
@@timothymartin2137 Speakers and cabs make a big difference in tone. Pedal distortion is pedal distortion. The MXR 5150 pedal sounds pretty good. The Friedman BE-OD sounds pretty good. HUGE difference in sound and tone using the return rather than the front end. Great video and overview

It handles that pretty well; tighter lows, more mids and gain if one needs. Like with an 800👌😎.
Would love to have heard you blend the 800 preamp with the SLO in the loop!
whens the comparison to the Friedman Beod pedal going? love ya brother as always killer videos!
