VERY NICE PHOTOGRAPHY! Some of the best I've seen. Also, excellent shooting through the plastic viewing panels. Wish it was longer, and showed more. The view from the inside to the top of the conning tower was VERY interesting, I have never seen this view before in either pictures or videos! An EXCELLENT JOB!

I saw one at a wreck museum(now closed) near Cuxhaven. That one had clearer cut outs. The two man crew sat in deck chairs inside. The TRIM of the sub was achieved by sliding a weight under the seats forwards or backwards. This 'WASP' came too late but did sink ships. One went aground off Lowestoft. The crew eventually set a scuttling charge and paddled to a nearby light ship. 'Guten Morgen?'

It was a two man sub. The commander sat forward, the engineer sat aft. Between them was a metal step to assist getting in or out. Periscope and schnorkel. Could you imagine being inside for 2 - 3 days. Almost impervious to depth charges. Imagine trying to crush a grape seed in your fingers.
I have heard of one story of sitting on the seabed being depth charged whilst the crew ate tinned chicken. With 2 external torpedoes they could and did sink ships.

For a story involving this type of Midget see 'Himmler's Double' by David Isherwood. Yes that's me!
