@DeborahWoodthorpe it doesn't matter what some do, it's what you do that affects your art practice, because it sounds like you're reconnecting with gratitude for your location and you like abstract so it stands to reason that it's worth the exploration
I found you today, so a new subscriber, I have been looking for inspiration on combining water colour and collage, so this fits all, I love how you filmed it so I could see what your thought process was, I love mixed media, my kind of art, thanks for sharing, and you live in a beautiful part of the country, I love the lake District, especially around Keswick/Borrowdale, I live in Snowdonia, so a similar landscape though a bit more rugged with our mountains, but I love it....Look forward to more videos like this one 🥰
@@RowanofSalem oh thank you for joining! Yes I was a bit off the mark saying the Lake District was the most beautiful place in the UK - I think anywhere in Wales knocks us into a cocked hat. Glad you liked watching me paint. Sometimes I think people might find it boring? I love mixed media too ❤️
@@DeborahWoodthorpe I would be interested in knowing your fave paints and if you mix Watercolour and Acrylic in a picture/collage ......maybe an idea for a future video. I forgot to say, I am a self taught, enthusiastic, try anything kinda artist, recently retired, 10 yrs post menopausal sometimes grumpy, but mostly grateful for everything I have. 😊💝
@ oh we sound like twins 😂 although Im perimenopausal! Yep I could include materials in future videos .. I’ve spent a few years trying lots of supplies before really landing on what I like
I’m so with you about paintings that look like photos. I find them so pointless. I really dislike it when people say that about my own paintings! I do love atmospheric landscape paintings though and would love to find a way of painting which combines elements of reality with some kind of abstraction, ‘poetic licence’ or quirkiness. For that reason I’m always looking for new inspiration, so thank you for adding your perspective. For some time now I’ve had it in my mind to use cut-outs in my art but haven’t attempted it yet. I will now! I am also lucky to live in rural Herefordshire, on the Welsh border, so have plenty of subject matter. Thank you so much! (Liked and subscribed).
@@mangelwurzel476 so glad you found me! Yes there has to be ‘something’ about landscapes to keep it interesting for me - abstraction or an unusual colour palette. A local artist called David Boyd is the only landscape artist I really admire
Hello Debbie, lovely video and enjoyed seeing your collage process. I definitely try to appreciate my surroundings of the leafy suburbs of West London! Thanks for sharing.
First time watching your channel. You are so right, most people seem to be busy looking for the next right thing, the greener grass, the better job or house that they do not see the beauty and their wealth that surrounds them. Sad. I shall be watching future videos from you as I enjoyed this short and simple (meant in the nicest way) video. xx
Thanks! Lovely video. Lake district is beautiful, visited a few times and loved it. Think we become accustomed to the beauty of our own places/homes very easily. Sketching helps me, then I really notice it again.❤
Your area is gorgeous!! I live in Ohio. It has some really pretty areas also. I'm not one for going out to often these days, but I love the change of seasons. I like your cloudy type paper.
@@DeborahWoodthorpe Me too!! Funny how some people are so comfortable outside. I'm always feeling on the alert when I'm out. Inside I can relax better.
I really want to visit the Lake district, but I love nature and landscapes. The bad part about living in Florida it's almost always HOT! Ugh... so unfair. I'm jealous. 😊
You have upped your video production game. Well done! Sadly, yes we don’t appreciate the beauty of Mother Earth - if you spend time connecting with her, she will amaze you. Thanks for sharing this thought provoking moment❤
It's a great pity that you don't like doing landscapes with scenery like that on your doorstep. It is true that we don't always appreciate where we live but sometimes that can be a good thing because it can encourage you to move to places that offer better opportunities - both for quality of life and art and since life is what you make of it, the grass can be greener elsewhere if you make it so. I moved from Leeds to Antibes in the south of France years ago and believe me, it was a fantastic move. We have a life now that we could never have had in Leeds. By the way, Yorkshire is FAR better than the other side of the Pennines (Haha) Loved your video and the idea that we can find inspiration anywhere, if we choose to look hard enough for it
