Wauw... This is a phenomenal band! I'm a girl (from Holland) playing electric guitar too, and I'm surely gonna play along with this! I play a bit like the blond, I'm personally not so great at playing too much chords, but I can do lead parts, the fiddly stuff.. The only other ones I can play a bit along with (I'm a beginner) are Link Wray, Tom Verlaine, Vini Reilly, a little Velvet Underground, and the blond woman in the middle from Surfrajettes!!! I've seen a bit of The Surfrajettes before, and now I'm sittin' at my friend's house, it's a sunny Sunday morning and he's watching something on 'Sunday Morning TV' while I'm on his laptop with earplugs in, watching this! Amazing.... Yesterday I played along with 'Around,' an instrumental album from Tom Verlaine, but I'm surely gonna play along with the Surfrajettes from now on too! THANX for this great upload!!! :)
Me gusta mucho este grupo, un auténtico sonido surf. La "Malagueña" es una vieja canción española de flamenco, la versión surf es fantástica, como toda la música de estas chicas.
I've recently discovered The Surfrajettes and they are fantastic! Being a large fan of The Ventures, I so appreciate their talent. The covers and originals are so fun and great. It would be so cool to hear a surfrajized version of "Buckaroo" from t Buck Owens fame. Thanks ladies, keep surfing 🏄♀️
Wow stuff here folks, Hope to see them soon again, in New Jersey Home of Hi-Tide records... The new drummer, reminds me of Catherine O'Hara Ear and Eye candy Even a blind man, knows when the sun shines
Came across them as a "Suggested Random Video For You" or whatever YT calls it these days... they are fantastic! Always loved the surf sound from as far back as I can recall (60s) and they do a great job of capturing it, on both their covers and originals alike. First heard the Beatles "She Loves You" like many others here... just great! Hoping for more from them in the coming years!
Been following these gals for three (3) yrs now....I'm an old time surfer, '60s era......love the ' clean / reverb ' sound ! Missed them here in Providence RI. I play guitar and most of my guitar playing is surf music....
I wish I knew you were playing in Phoenix,,I hate the big cities,,,but if I knew you were playing there I would have gotten up there somehow !!! Love your music !! your friend in 3 Points Arizona !!
*Perhaps health reasons, I don't know.* I'm glad as well. The other drummer was very competent too. In bands, prsonnel changes happen. - I subbed their original channel awhile back. Love their material.
These gals are fantastic, just saw them couple of weeks ago in Indianapolis. Oh, by the way, Train Kept A Rollin wasn't written by Aerosmith, they were actually doing a cover!
Wow! What a band. A song that would if right in and be a little slower and give you a breather would be "In my room" by the Beach Boys. Wishing you the best and a big fan.
Warm Up, Roxy Roller, Couch Surfing, Surfers Slide, Slush Puppy, Heart Of Glass, Roller Fink, Snowball, El Condor, Salty Sister, Malaguena, In A Gadda Da Vida/Sunshine Of Your Love., For Your Love, Train Kept A Rollin', Toxic/Satan's Holiday. This was a truncated engagement (the Magic Bag set stretching to 27 numbers) and the first set the viewer's been able to watch since the Pittsburgh gig (unless you count the Facebook thing). Of note is their transition from one song to the next, I'd say that the Creature's had something to do with that as the Jag seemed to need an awful lot of tuning. This was the 3rd night of their 15 date California and mid west tour.
Always enjoy reading your comments. Sounds like you are a big fan of theirs. They were supposed to be headlining but Messer Chups was later added as the headliner. It was a bit disappointing for me that The Surfrajettes were not the headliners as I flew to Phoenix from Charleston, SC to see them. But it was a small venue and sounded great. Also was great meeting the entire band and talking to each of them for a while.
@@gerretw Yes and No. It is the RnR adaptation or really rip off of the classical piece 'Hall of the Mountain King' by Edvard Grieg that was recorded in 1964 by the Lancasters that Kim Fowley and Ritchie Blackmore took credit for writing and changed the title to Satan's Holiday. That recording also a rip off of the 1st RnR adaptation of that piece by the British RnR instrumental band Nero and the Gladiators who in 1961 released their 45 of it only they kept the title Hall of the Mountain King and gave Grieg writing credit. But the Surfrajettes do a cover of the Lancasters recording that was re-titled Satan's Holiday.
One of the few bands I'd actually like to see live, most live bands now is like going to a musical theatre production with 20 musicians up on stage, half a dozen backing singer's, smoke machines and light shoes, the actual talent of the band is lost..
Not sure what you mean, and why it's a drawback, if that's what you're implying. The harder, driving rhythm and energy Samantha brings? Just what this group needed imo - all the previous drummers they employed were always a little tepid and stiff, and often behind the beat, rather than setting it.
I like how Sam (Formerly of Hole and EODM) started the set mellow and then went big stick pounding as the set went on...did you eat the disco biz kits?
@@DrFuckup That is a different drummer with the same name. Someone wrote that Samantha Maloney (of Hole, Motley Crue, etc.) is currently playing with the Surfrajettes on her Wikipedia page and it is incorrect.
With Samantha on drums, they've got the magic lineup!
The drummer is the heart of the band.
If you're not very young you may think of her as Samantha Stevens.
YES - GREAT DRUMMER SHE'S A Keeper!

There are no better artists to learn from than the ones you listed. Keep up the good work, and one day we will see you playing on vids like these. 😉😁
If there was ever a band I wanted to see 'live', this is the one; 200 out of 10 from England...;)
Samantha is an excelent drummer
Sam plays like a woman possessed. On a song like "For Your Love" she goes into a full sprint right out of the gate.
Nicole is absolutely on fire this whole show
I find it immensely calming watching these vids. Love this band.
They have an amazing talent to convert popular songs into Surf songs. Their version of 'She Loves You' is one of the best examples.
Wow, they're playing 'The Yard Birds'!!! Really friggin impressed😲!!
Хорошо девчонки играют! Молодцы!❤❤❤❤
My goodness! The Dead. Great arrangements. Outstanding musicians. Keep it coming ladies!!!
Sarah Butler is a great slappbassplayer also and patzy Cline singer... she was before in a group called "The Millwinders"
I'm loving the Danelectro Longhorn bass
Was there, they were Spectacular. My new *favorite* band. Most Excellent and all indicators are pointing UP.
Samantha on drums is like when the Beatles finally found Ringo Starr to complete their sound
Right on! They were very good before, but now they're great. Sam adds a lot of energy, I love her use of the toms.
I agree
bang on!
I'd pick her over ringo
Beatles? Ringo Starr? Who are they??
these lasses should be massive stars...they've got everything...
They killed it. Great job.
Thanks for posting their entire set

WOW!! Gotta get that Roller Fink CD!!
Nice to see Sarah back.

@@JamminClemmons Sarah is a grade school teacher, so doesn't tour during the school year. She was in my band The Millwinders.Same deal then.
@@jameshenry7256 - She's also a teacher?
Thanks for the info. I'm sure many students have a crush on her. That gal has charisma.
- Cheers, brother.

I could swear that drummer was channeling Ginger Baker in "Sunshine of your Love".
Remarkable
The Surfrajettes return to The Rhythm Room November 26th.
For your love..
Nice!!
I like the mellow jam "Snowball"
Sarah's Back....FTW !
Мамочки за работой...

Isn't that Toxic / Hall of the Mountain King?

Very well said. Couldn't agree with you more.
That silhouette up front with the newsie hat is me! 😅
They should do a version of Sleepwalk
That drummer is munching on something...prolly a power bar ?
She is a powerhouse drummer.....chick rocks the house.
I like the slow song.....wish they would say the name of the song.
The name of the song is Snowball. The entire Setlist is in the description.
Messer Chups used those same amps.
That one song sounds like "EL Condor Pasa" ?
Yes, that song is played at 23:48 minutes.
The bass player will remain anonymous ?
What happened to the old drummer anyways ?
If I remember correctly, she had a baby, which made travelling from New York to Toronto to play with the band and touring too difficult.
Sam doesn't just play the drums.........she attacks them
So true. She's like Keith Moon.
The drummer is more hardrock

No
bad sound
At last, a female drummer that is a cross between Mick Fleetwood and Animal :).
I'd like to see her get some Dead Ringers on her drums.
well put!
