100% agree with the Bellina being vigorous because my first bellina was also a seedling and when i got home to repot her she had little to NO roots at all just rotted except new root tip peaking through That’s when i came across your repotting vid and today she has so many long roots now using the fluffy moss technique ❤

I am very fortunate that my cat doesn’t munch on my plants. I think a lot of them are toxic to pets.
I am in awe of how you get your orchids to bloom so fast. I have a few orchids that I got about 1 year ago and they still look like small seedlings. I have started watering them with dilute fertilizer and giving them more light. I hope that works.

My favorite mini/compact catts are the Blc. Solar Flare 'Paradise' and one of you Ethel's Paradise's parents, the Diac. Chantilly Lace ( although I didn't care for her scent this summer--it was her first time blooming after I got her nearly dead a little over a year ago, though.... She's a survivor! I call her a Charlie Brown plant after the tree in the Charlie Brown Christmas. 🤗)

    • @NicoleDeanna
      @NicoleDeanna  Месяц назад

Solar Flare "Paradise" is a good one! That's a nice vigorous one, though I find it doesn't bloom very often for me, maybe like 1-2x per year. I will say that the Ethel's Paradise didn't have fragrance when it first bloomed, likely because it was stressed, and i got it the second time around :)

Because of your videos like this I have acquired a Richard Mueller from my last Hausermann haul, 2 years to bloom, but this orchid grows like a weed so far for me. I recently found a bag baby in which Potinara Hawaiian Charisma is in its parentage so I bought it just because I know how vigorous your orchid is and I’m really hoping the scent was passed on 🤞🏾🤞🏾 If I ever come across Vickie Andrews, it will also be because of your collection 😁😁😁 These videos are awesome and sooooo appreciated!!! 🌺

I find Caulocattleya Chantilly Lace Twinkle, which is similar to your Ehthel's Paradise, to be very vigorous as well. I got it rootless, and it bloomed in less than 6 months from the very 1st new growth. It grows very fast and blooms reliably 3 times a year from every new growth (sometimes - from multiple growths at the same time), smells amazing too🥰

As for cattleyas, my fastest and easiest to grow one so far has been the Dialaelia Village Chief Perfume WCL (White with Purple Lip) which I bought from Lowes last year.
For my novelty phals, the schilleriana and violacea are growing faster than my bellina. The violacea already has its first flower spike and the plant is only 6" wide.
They were all purchased at the same time, but just like yours, the bottom leaves fell off, but I think the problem it had was a bacterial infection which isn't surprising considering I bought them in February.

    • @NicoleDeanna

@@NicoleDeanna I bought 12 new cattleyas in May so I'm curious to see how they will grow.
All of them have been repotted and some immediately started making new roots such as the Rustic Spots.
I currently have them in tall butterfly cages in an eastern facing porch with windows.
Here are the high/low readings for June so far:
      Humidity: Low (26%), High (81%)
      Temperature: Low (55°F), High (100. 4°F)
They are in a mix of mostly medium size bark, large perlite, and charcoal. Some have a little bit of coconut chips/husk and a top layer of sphagnum moss.
I had them outside in the rain yesterday.

Hi Nicole, these are all so beautiful and I have two Richard mueller or three hybrids that do great! Now, Pot. Hawaii. Carisma Hawaii I purchased from Carmela’s orchid in June or July 2020 (the fragrant deal, only two survived! 😮) passed away it kept rotting for some reason and never made it. I did purchase two more from other vendors and I killed them. I really don’t know what I did wrong, but let’s see if I try it again one day lol. 😝 The Ethel’s Paradise is smelling amazing… I did not pick up the scent when it recently bloomed again. I do have a Bellina fire by sib that is currently growing new buds. I have some Kingiadums but they have not bloomed yet, scared of the bug magnet they are or can be lol 😮. I think I have the Anobi Purple, hum… but it has not bloomed yet, I need to check if this is the one I also have lol. You are an excellent cultivator of you orchids. Be blessed and stay cool.

If I don’t like the foliage on an orchid I usually plant pass on it since almost half the time that we have them they have no flowers.
I feel your pain with the leaf munching cat. One of my cats loves to eat flowers mostly. I recently brought my pot of pansies in to dead head them and she decided to munch the flowers away herself. Can’t turn my back on her. Whenever someone gets me flowers I have to try to keep them away from her. My orchids are up high enough on shelves that she has not yet tired to get up there. Recently she has been attacking my Christmas cactus. I’ve had to put a barrier up to keep her away from it. 🙄 Such a nature lover.
