Without his help Coraline could have ended up back into the other world. And that could have been torture for her so..... A real home.. Or a fake home?

I found absolutely none of these "scary" as a kid, not Harry Potter, not James and the Giant Peach, certainly not Nightmare Before Christmas... about the only thing that really scared me was Frolo's "HELLFIRE" song in the Hunchback of Notre Dame. Then again, I'm also a guy who was made to watch Terminator 1 at age six because my dad insisted that he must "prepare me for the future". So perhaps I'm not the best judge.
Ok so Coraline’s “normal” world is the last thing from “perfect” hence why she seeks/gets lured to the “other” world. Seriously who edits these scripts for this channel?
Concept of this video: Wrap your kids in bubble wrap. So when they're adults, real life will hit them so hard that the statistics for stress and depression will be even higher. Great idea! :D Children are individuals and what will be scary for some will be a-ok with others. It depends on the CHILD, they are individuals from the day they're born, they aren't born empty shells that all have the exact same tolerance towards everything. A parent should know their child well enough to have an idea whether a movie will scare them or not, so it's up to the parents whether a movie might be too much for their kid. My mother for instance, being someone who has worked with children and teens her whole life and studied development psychology, did this thing that whenever I wanted to watch a movie where she wasn't 100% sure whether there were scenes that might confuse and/or disturb me, she'd never let me watch it alone. She always watched those types of movies with me, so at the off chance something scared or confused me, she could be there to console or explain things to me. I recommend all parents doing the same instead of either leaving their kids to their own devises or not allow them to watch anything that isn't 100% kid/baby friendly. Children are individuals; treat them as such.
AiraSora, at the same time, since children are individuals, it is not always a good thing for parents to be around, as the concept of the helicopter parent can, and always inevitably does, lead to strict tyrannical rule in a household. The proper thing to do is to teach your children from the Christian and Jewish Holy Scriptures, as well as to be self-reliant and self-sufficient, so that way you can not only send a message to them that you trust their judgment, but that you also know for a fact on whether you raised them up right or not in their lives. You would do well to learn that as well in your life.
“Lets just show Coraline to our 6 year old kids. They’ll be fine, it’s definitely a movie for them” “Hey, look, a breast joke, better put it on the list” “Hey, Up has like 20 minutes total of sad moments, its definitely TOO far for kids” “The creator made the move for adults” *why is it even in the list then* “Bambi is SO depressing, it’s not like that’s the point of that entire scene, to be sad” Im gonna stop, you get the point. The Antz swear words is probably the only kind of far thing. If you don’t tell your kids that things like this happen in the world, they’ll be scared of everything when they’re older. Some of the movies here are NOT for younger kids, but more for 10-12 year old kids, kids that are aware that its a movie and NOT real. If you show those to kids then thats just bad parenting. Go lock your kids in a tower lmao
I didn't see anything wrong with these films for kids. It teaches them that life isn't a pleasure cruise. Sounds like you're reaching a bit here. Also, how is a knee legnth dress next to nothing for clothing?
ugh these are fine i was watching pg13 movies and rated r before i was 13 these movies are no problem but i as diffrent so i could seemore stuff iguess all kids are diffrent but comre on bambi
Ok. It's not fair to judge movies made for older generations by how they are with today's generation. Today's generation is so sheltered that everything sets them off. The children will be fine. The parents are the ones getting offended and angry.
Coralline has been my favorite movie since I was like 7. I’m 14 now and I still would watch it 1,000 times. Um I’ve never been scared by it in my entire life. Edit: although the scariest movie on the list is “Where the Wild things are, omg that movie is extremely disturbing.
Aloamazing56 Honestly same i love Coralline as a kid(my family thought i was weird) but where the wild things are gave me the creeps but my family loves that movie
Grave of the fireflies was based on a true story. The novel the animated film was based on was an apology by the author which is why he kills himself off in the book.
The nightmare before Christmas has been one of my favorite movies since ive watched it! And i was six! And i wasnt scared! Kids are just too soft these days!
I swear i watch all of these when I was like 5 through 8 somewhere around there and I was not scared at all and whole entire comments agree it's sad to see that so many people are getting soft and becoming this way now
Ok I'm glad someone mentioned this. It was driving me nuts that he kept saying tom selleck when it was actually Henry selick. This proves that screen rant doesn't do research into their movies. They keep making errors when talking about the movies and tv shows.
Just watched Coraline with my 6 year old last week. He loved it. Was obviously a little scared but it's a part of growing up. And it's nothing compared to the messed up broken ass world he is about to inherit so it's good preparation.
I agree man. Children can’t grow up to think everything is fine and perfect. They need to learn and understand there is such things as loss, fear, and darkness.
it's not a bad film it's just not good for small children who can't understand its not real life, if you were a three year old and a woman with buttons for eyes tried to eat your flesh wouldn't you be terrified beyond the point of tears?
@@josephmacdougall1996 actually, if you pay attention it is very creepy and unsettling, and it was aimed for teens-- and was classified as horror on the cover. dumbass.
It took me a while to realize this guy said "Tom Selleck" instead of "Henry Selick" when talking about the stopmotion movies and realize what was wrong with what he said
Tim Burton produced The Nightmare Before Christmas, but he didn't direct it. Henry Selick is the director. But yes, this movie still very much includes Tim Burton as he produced it and some of the art and models have his touch, but he's unfairly given more credit for the movie than Henry Selick is (I'm not saying to discredit Burton, I just wish Selick was given acknowledgement too)
And he is like: There are SKELETONS! (Tnbc): THE MAINCHARACTER EVEN IS A SKELETON!!! Me: tf is your Problem with skeletons? Do you scream at your computer while playing Undertale too?
I've come to realize over the years that cartoon or animation DOES NOT equal a kid friendly movie. There's plenty of movies of those styles that have a lot of dark themes. There is a difference between being marketed as "for kids", being marketed for others and being wrongly marketed as either of those. I think it goes down to looking into movies you show your kids and determining yourself if they'd be okay to watch it. UP has a few darker tones, but it's overall pretty happy all around. It's marketed as a family friendly movie. Caroline sure has even more dark tones and the movie is marketed as a fantasy horror. Majority of the animated Tim Burton films would fit into this as well. Grave of the Fireflies for example, is NOT a kids movie. Teen plus, I'd say. Japan's standards of kid friendly have been all over the place, but as far as I know, that movie was NOT recommended to kids.
XBakaTacoX Yes, I agree with the Grave of fireflies. It says it is PG-13 but I would say it’s more for 16 years and older. It was a very emotional movie and the overall theme and message is best for kids 16, maybe 15, and older. I cried so much when I watch it.
Mythical Moon AJ Nope my five cousin are 5,5,6,4,4 and they love most Tim Burton style movies. Have you seen the corpse bride or nightmare before Christmas? They are the only non Disney family favorites we have.
yes but they also killed a lot of other parents/parent figures im just going to list them and write down who died (probably not all) Finding nemo- mom The Lion King- dad Moana- grandma The hunchback of noterdame- mom The fox and the hound- mom Atlantis the lost empire- kidas mom and dad Frozen- mom and dad Tarzan- His mom and dad and then the Gorilla dad parent figure. and I think thats all I can really remember at the moment

@@vidc4313 Yes they do! Coraline went WAY to far! I mean, Nightmare Before Christmas isn't that bad, but Coraline went OVER the boundaries WAY to much. My Opinion. If you want to complain, go cry me a river.
Grave of the fireflies is a Japanese movie. This is a movie about their past in the same fashion as a movie like Mulan. Even so, showing this to your kids is probably a good idea once they are about 11.
*Coraline was amazing, I watched it when I was like five and a half. Honestly still surprised on how I showed no signs of fear. My four and a half year old (that age at the time) friend, on the other hand was terrified and hiding under the blanket.*
Penfookio Productions amen brother. Literally the only film on this list that ever bugged me as a young child was Coraline, and if you wanna be technical, that's not even a kids film. Edit: Also Nightmare Before Christmas, I feel like that was one of the few films that deserved to be on here.

I couldn't sleep at night after watching the nightmare before christmas as a kid...
That song scared me and I only watched 2 months ago.
PhantomSavage I saw the Dark Knight in the age of 5
when I was younger I wanted to live in the Halloween town from Nightmare Before Christmas, I loved the spooky atmosphere to bits.
Wtfs wrong with nightmare before christmas Coraline different but, come on
Most of these movies/shows are a lot better than the"KID FREINDLY" shows/movies today
ah, yes, the minions movie. a timeless classic.
And let's not get started on some of the content on RUclips Kids.
I watched James and the giant peach when I was younger and loved it!
Sure some parts are slightly disturbing but that's what makes it interesting.
Thank you for sharing that opinion. :)
Ok so Coraline’s “normal” world is the last thing from “perfect” hence why she seeks/gets lured to the “other” world. Seriously who edits these scripts for this channel?
I thought he meant the "other" world seemed perfect before it went to hell.
It’s like they’ve never even seen the movie
Darth Shartstar666 You are right. Coraline didn't like her parents because they didn't care for her. So she lurked into the "other world"
I have the movie on dvd
That movie is creepy as hell,WTF it gave me nightmares for days, did it come off Netflix please.
Concept of this video: Wrap your kids in bubble wrap. So when they're adults, real life will hit them so hard that the statistics for stress and depression will be even higher. Great idea! :D
Children are individuals and what will be scary for some will be a-ok with others.
Right😬 I mean that's what I do
That’s deep bro
AiraSora, at the same time, since children are individuals, it is not always a good thing for parents to be around, as the concept of the helicopter parent can, and always inevitably does, lead to strict tyrannical rule in a household. The proper thing to do is to teach your children from the Christian and Jewish Holy Scriptures, as well as to be self-reliant and self-sufficient, so that way you can not only send a message to them that you trust their judgment, but that you also know for a fact on whether you raised them up right or not in their lives. You would do well to learn that as well in your life.
Pax Humana I was with you until you brought religion into it.
Gosh, religion does *NOT* solve every problem. I'm with you AiraSora! You do a great job. More parents should act like you! All my respect to you!
“Lets just show Coraline to our 6 year old kids. They’ll be fine, it’s definitely a movie for them”
“Hey, look, a breast joke, better put it on the list”
“Hey, Up has like 20 minutes total of sad moments, its definitely TOO far for kids”
“The creator made the move for adults”
*why is it even in the list then*
“Bambi is SO depressing, it’s not like that’s the point of that entire scene, to be sad”
Im gonna stop, you get the point.

Grave of the fireflies was based on a true story. The novel the animated film was based on was an apology by the author which is why he kills himself off in the book.
Also it isn't Tom Selleck, it's Henry Selick. He's the guy who did James and the Giant Peach and Coraline

I'm glad you said it, so I didn't have to.
Ok I'm glad someone mentioned this. It was driving me nuts that he kept saying tom selleck when it was actually Henry selick. This proves that screen rant doesn't do research into their movies. They keep making errors when talking about the movies and tv shows.
Thank God someone said this it was driving me mad
No kidding. Public apology please screen rant. Don't tarnish this artist into confusing obscurity.

It took me a while to realize this guy said "Tom Selleck" instead of "Henry Selick" when talking about the stopmotion movies and realize what was wrong with what he said
I was waiting to see if he meant it as a joke
Tim Burton produced The Nightmare Before Christmas, but he didn't direct it. Henry Selick is the director.
But yes, this movie still very much includes Tim Burton as he produced it and some of the art and models have his touch, but he's unfairly given more credit for the movie than Henry Selick is (I'm not saying to discredit Burton, I just wish Selick was given acknowledgement too)

HENRY Selik. Tom Selleck is an actor. How did NO ONE catch that before you produced this vid?
I know, I thought I misheard him the first time then he kept saying tom
Am I the only kid who loves Caroline?
Mythical Moon AJ Nope my five cousin are 5,5,6,4,4 and they love most Tim Burton style movies. Have you seen the corpse bride or nightmare before Christmas? They are the only non Disney family favorites we have.
Mythical Moon AJ I love Coraline
Exactly.
When you said they killed his mother in Bambi. They killed half of all the Disney princesses moms so I don't really see what the big deal is :p
Dynamite Kitty they technically kinda sorta showed how she died in the movie
yes but they also killed a lot of other parents/parent figures im just going to list them and write down who died (probably not all)
Finding nemo- mom
The Lion King- dad
Moana- grandma
The hunchback of noterdame- mom
The fox and the hound- mom
Atlantis the lost empire- kidas mom and dad
Frozen- mom and dad
Tarzan- His mom and dad and then the Gorilla dad parent figure.
and I think thats all I can really remember at the moment
