    We had a fun day of hunting with Bill and Christine, we look forward to future hunts with you both.. The art of plucking is a must to learn, to hunt here in Vegas. As someone posted already, it is very hard to grow nice grass here in this desert, and they protect it with many laws for metal detecting. We have some really nice parks, and some that are not so nice. All are covered under the same laws. I just wish they would enforce the clean up your doggy doo law.. Sometimes you have to navigate the doo to hunt... Thanks again for the fun day Bill and Christine.. See you soon..

      Can you metal detect the tot lots and use your hand spades in the bark

    • @LasVegasUrbanTreasureHunter
      @LasVegasUrbanTreasureHunter Год назад +2

      @@stormysadventuresindigginw1505 you can hunt some of our tot lots, just check the signs, you can use your beach scoop or hand digger in the tot lots. However, all the finds will be shallow, not deep. Vegas is built on caleche, and it is like concrete. All our parks are fill dirt and sod. There is very little old ground left here in Vegas. Most of our parks were built in the 1970's, so the only way to find old or silver coins, is if someone drops it from their pockets.

    Wow! The metal detecting community there should try and fight that law. I wonder if it's for the whole Las Vegas valley or just Vegas city limits?
    I had the police show up and kick me out of Monrovia library park recently because they got a call that I was in the park with a knife. They told me that I wasn't allowed to dig anywhere in Monrovia but this is the first time this has happened. I don't think they should be able to enforce it unless it's posted on the sign in parks.
    Bill, you have way more patience than I would have trying to probe.
    I absolutely love that you found another way to treasure hunt while there, from coinstars to thrift stores, I'm always looking for ways to be constantly treasure hunting!!!
    Great video as always!!!!

    In a lot of cities, you have no choice but to use a probe. Even a small trowel/digger is a no no. You can forget about even exposing the handle of a shovel without getting a frown from the public I remember the first time I had to do this on a well kept park ground. It takes some patience, especially when you’re probing a ring/ pull tab target with no flat surface to tap on. One thing I always used in this type of retrieval was a gasket scraper that I bought from an auto parts store. It looks like a flat head screw driver, except it has a wider flat head to it, about an inch and a half size bladed end to pop out the target quicker without tearing up the ground.

    Hello Bill, I have a suggestion for using you GoPro or which ever camera you may be using, first that harness looks hot and cumbersome, I have been using the Snap Mount system, one part fits under your shirt and the camera magnetically snaps to it, works awesome

      When I first started detecting in the 70's , I only used a probe and a screwdriver in lawns. Find the target with the probe and pop it out with the screwdriver. It takes some practice. It's funny how the probe makes the worms come out of the ground too. Not sure what makes them do that.

      @DigginSoCal  Год назад +2

      It was interesting and a good thing to learn.... as far as worms... not sure but when I was a kid I was taught a trick to get worms... I would put a shovel into the ground and shake it back and forth and out wold come worms... easy picking...

    You could probably make a good probe out of a crochet hook you would just have to make a handle for it or buy a handled one.

    Ok.... that was 'different'. I've used a 'probe' to locate but not to dig... I've got a bunch of landmine probes (titanium) but they are about 24". Might try cutting them down some and add to my 'tool belt'. Is digging in LV like that everywhere or just in certain parks.. if so.. I may just leave the detector home and 'mine' the Slots...

      @@DigginSoCal Most of our tot lots are foam now, but we still have some with dirt and wood chips.. In some of the parks, there are signs that say do not enter in the tot lots unless you are a parent or guardian with small children. The rules are posted at the entrance of all the parks. Vegas can be a tough hunt at times..

    Wow I don’t like that way of metal detecting , it’s a joke slows you down a lot and looks like it puts a lot of strain on your back less targets less treasures and 2nd of all in the comments someone said they got in trouble at Library park I live in Monrovia never had any troubles there dug everywhere for about 15 years and still doing it when I just want to go out real quick maybe I’ll see ya out there. And bill keep the shovel, put the probe up in the garage where you can see it so when you think about going to Vegas that should detour you from going . Keep up the hunt
