Just want to thank you for posting this video I've been painting for 15 years and do all the basic maintenance stuff on my machines. I knew repacking them wasn't very hard I've done it on the small ones but not my larger machines and I've been looking for a video foe years that shows the step by step procedure again thank you and I hope you keep posting videos..
How would be the best way to go about removing the lower housing if it's stuck on there really good? I pulled the o-ring out with a pick and I can see a light coat of rust. I'm already mashing the tabs on the housing and it's not feeling right.
I have a Graco 7900 I bought really cheap off of Craigslist it's the first sprayer I bought that I can't get the engine to turn what should be the first thing that I'm looking for. It had been sitting in somebody's garage for about 2 years so I thought maybe it was hydrolock so I pulled the spark plug and spray to PB blaster in it let it sit for a while and still can't get it to budge
Hey Brian, I have an old Graco Lts17 and its missing the solenoid kit, down by the prime switch (its an old sprayer) is it worth fixing, the pump still works. Thx
Before I did the repack (gh230) it was leaking paint from the inlet housing and now that I have done the repack it's still leaking from the same place...what could be the issue? Yes I did replace the o ring under the carbon washer.
@@jonathanthompson7186 when you have a leak there, you need to replace the oring on the top and bottom of the sleeve. If that does not fix it, your sleeve or inlet housing is damaged. Replace the oring on the top and bottom of the sleeve first
@@jonathanthompson7186 there are 2 springs on the sleeve. One at the bottom and one at the top. Both need to be replaced. If the original g at the tip inside the cylinder is bad, it will leak in the same place as the lower oring
Gh230 piston sometimes gets stuck down google said poppet pin but i cant find it idk if google was lying about the name or cause of the problem i just bought the machine used and did one commercial job with it no problems now 2nd job this happened any advice you can give would be grateful
Hydraulic problems are difficult to diagnose sight unseen. Makes sure you have enough hydraulic fluid and that it is clean. Air in the line can cause the stoppage. What do you do to get the pump going again?
I've been repairing airless for 40 years and I too never tighten the piston seat until it is in the sleeve/cylinder and by the way you put the washer on top of the wiper, its washer first, then wiper, just because Graco has instructions on how they think it should be done is as you said utterly stupid to do it that way ( here's why, you don't know if you roll a packing, it has happened and sometimes graco's way will shave the packings. Also it appears you over tightened the upper packing nut, I was taught by an graco repair person in 1981 in Los Angeles at Graco to tighten as tight as you can by hand then 1/4 turn more. Just try it your self and you'll see how much sense it makes when its done a better way, as far a damage, your way is a risk of damage, not my way, because you don't even use a hammer. Feel free to contact me Quick Fix Riverside Ca. with any questions.
Most any type of grease will work, oil as well. Be sure to put the piston in the top of the sleeve to prevent folding the packings. Place the sleeve on a piece of wood and use a rubber mallet to pound the piston into the sleeve. It will be tight, it should be.
Sorry to bother you again but hopefully this is my last question. We use these sprayers to spray waterproofing material instead of paint like they are supposed to be used for is it ok to run diesel fuel through it to clean it out before it sits? It is for our back up set-up
@@miguelpaintingmiguelescoba8072 typically that noise is low fluid or air in the fluid. If your pressure is good on the hose and the fluid level is appropriate, I would not be concerned.
I do not have a video on that. This is alot more complicated and tedious. It is not something that happens often. The clutch installation is the most difficult.
Dude…Way to confuse people by telling the wrong way to do it. Why even include it??? Also you should have included taking the thing apart and then putting back together start to finish.

No problem. Keep in mind that a certified technician needs to see you machine as well. The videos are not meant to eliminate that need.
He sounds like happy Gilmore when he says just “tap it in” just got to your home just tap it in😂 thx for the video

Is the pump still attached to the machine or is it off the machine?
What's the name of that wrench at 25:00? I'd like to pick one up for this. Thanks!
Called a hinged spanner wrench or hinged hook wrench depending on where you are from

Is the material spraying out around the inlet and the cylinder?
@@Brian_the_repair_guy no just at the top of the inlet. It's only doing it when the gun is not spraying and the machine is idling.

I want the exact same one

What packing kit would a 230 HDR take.
Thanks in advance.
You can use Graco part number 244194 or 18B260 or Bedford 20-2428. Keep in mind that not all the parts in the package will be used.
Thanks dear, can you share link of repair book please ?
If you go to to Gracos website, all the manuals are in line. Type in your model
