    Fractured Plot Recap
    Fractured follows Ray and his family as they come from Thanksgiving. Everything seems pretty mundane but as we follow Ray’s journey, things begin to splinter and the events of the movie are difficult to fully discern without closer examination.
    Ray is an unreliable narrator that suffers from alcoholism and after his daughter, Peri, falls into a construction site, he rushes her to the hospital along with his wife Jo. Passing out from exhaustion and a head injury gained from diving in after Peri, Ray awakens to find his family completely gone with the hospital staff unaware that they ever came in. The last thing he remembers is sending Peri and Jo down in the elevator to head for a scan and from there the tension ramps up from beginning to end.
    Did It Really Happen?
    They say that as Ray made up the dog and as he has already lost his family before he created an alternate reality in order to shield himself from the truth. Ray seemingly got angry due to the argument at the start of the film and accidentally killed his daughter and then-wife in a rage and this has all been a delusion. He gets arrested but when the stray dog appears it too confirms that Ray may not have been making this up and he grabs a gun from a policeman and locks the cops and psychiatrist in a shipping container. Ray heads back to the hospital, armed and ready to go all Last Of Us on the entire place.
    Fractured: Netflix: Ending Explained
    He escapes with his family and they all lived happily ever after….oh wait…after hallucinating that they’re in the backseat, we see that Ray actually kidnapped someone who was in the middle of surgery.
    As the psychiatrist said earlier, Ray had indeed killed his family and constructed the events of the film in his mind in order to shield himself from the truth. Their bodies are in the back seat of his jeep and have been there the entire time. Now throughout the film, the signs are there, literally, because we see a magazine article that says ‘the signs are there.’
    This includes a queue that seems to disappear in the waiting room which forces Ray to pace up and down it. The fact that Ray’s wife doesn’t know his daughter’s blood type when they are asked for it, probably because Ray doesn’t either and Peri saying ‘my head is killing me.’ When rewatching the film, every medical professional in it should be taken at their word as they outright tell the truth of the events of the film which is that Ray came in with a head trauma, by himself, began acting erratic and then showed up once more the next day accusing them of kidnapping his daughter.
    Fractured Review
    But what did I think of the film overall? Well, Fractured is a really tense and personal story that is propped up massively by its performances. Whilst the twist is slightly predictable, purely because of how similar it is to the Machinist, the director’s most famous film, that doesn’t mean that the ride isn’t enjoyable. Worthington may not pull off the performance that Bale did with his extreme weight loss but instead, he paints out a grounded father, struggling to deal with the situation that is going on around him and living life on the edge.

      @Liz Gaby yeah Hollywood has done a great job at making the viewers always have sympathy for the villain. Go take a look at the Sons Of Anarchy fans. They'll try telling you how Jax Teller is a superhero frictional character lol. Same goes for the Batman series. Back in the day Mr. Freeze was just a guy "who wanted his family back" lol. Now the Joker is the underrated confused super villain who "relates" to the audience. My issue is that the director made this film to much on the edge of making Ray look sane.

      I think it's because most people like the usual formula. I, for one, don't. I love movies ending in a tragedy (with a brilliant plot of course). the shutter island, seven (brad pitt and morgan freeman), zodiac, the great gatsby, the mist, rosemary's baby, no country for old men, oldboy, and many more. they are the type of movies that doesn't follow the happy ending formula and I LOVE IT MORE THAN THE HAPPY ENDING FORMULA. maybe because im a mad man! naaah i still root for the good but sometimes it's kind of tiring to eat same kind of meal everyday if you know what i mean.
      it is always the execution of its resolution. if the execution fails, the whole movie fails but if done right then it's a masterpiece. this movie i think has done it right but it has flaws (we cannot deny that). I still love the ending, the way he is still crazy in the end because it gives you something to talk about - which gives more credit to how well it is in some aspects. it gives you room to theorize. TYPICAL PEOPLE LOVE TYPICAL MOVIES. that's just how it is. im not one of those typicals.

    Actually, the dog was real. The true scene are, he was mad at peri for losing the compact, and he was in rage, during that time, there was indeed a dog which was guarding peri, he took a stone and threw at the dog which made peri to get scared and fall off. Then he jumps, gets his head bumped. When Jo saw what happened, and since Jo and ray aren't in good terms already, he couldn't accept that happened to peri and with that anger he slaps Jo to her death. Closes his eyes, creates an alternate reality.
    The last part, if you see, they'll show the centre mirror one last time and then show ray, where he loses his smile slowly with a eerie music to end the film. Its to show that, he realises what had really happened.

    Spoiler: The most obvious conclusion that nobody is mentioning is that he fell asleep and was awoken when that man asked him if he was okay since he was talking in his sleep. Everyone is trying to piece that he didn’t remember or that he was seeing it differently, he simply dreamt it all. He put the bodies in his trunk, drove to the hospital for his injury (he was using the scarf to stop the blood on his forehead, probably dropped it, that’s how the scarf got in the hospital), signed in with his name, got checked up, had an interaction with all the hospital staff members (so they were in his subconscious, but their roles were different in his dream, since the memory doesn’t work that well). That is why we saw them in the delusion as a nurse, but in reality as a doctor. He dreamt the inappropriate interview with the lady who asked him about insurance, in reality it was probably very normal when he was alone. He saw the doctors, they almost took him to get the CAT scan, so he walked towards the elevators, but he refused it, so he didn’t see anything past the elevator. (So he had to imagine).

    Also cool thing that i noticed. After the incident when they rushed into the car. Joanna and Peri took up the middle seat and a little of the seat where Peri was sitting. When Ray speaks they pan to him and the rear view however we don’t see Jo and Peri nor their shadows on the seat or their reflections in the mirror. They aren’t there on the drive to the hospital. Also another thing was that we always saw Jo and Peri together never apart or all in one comfortable shot as a family. When they were in the waiting room, there was a space between Jo and Ray, a significant space and they always made it a point that after the accident to keep Jo and Peri a distance away from Ray like they were a far away thought or dream. Never was there a time after the accident where Jo and Peri were apart for more than five seconds or in a shot as a whole family properly with Ray.

    You missed the part about the car accident that he made up. While he was in the hospital getting medical attention for his head wound, he knew his wife and daughter were rotting in the trunk of his car. I thought the plot twist was going to be that he caused a car accident, his wife and daughter died on impact, and their organs were harvested which is why he is so fixated on this organ harvesting plot. But it turns out that he knew what he was doing and he knew that he killed them when he put them in the car and drove to the hospital. He was in his right mind enough to make up a car accident and that’s why he needed medical attention for his head injury. His delusions didn’t start until he woke up in the waiting room. The twist is that he is a cool blooded killer and he probably killed his first wife too.

    Did anyone notice that the woman who was at the gas station also appeared in the hospital when one of the female doctors (the one who was noting Ray's family history, insurance and stuff)says she'll see what she can do about Ray's insurance and then she goes and talks to a women about it and turns out it's the same woman from the gas station who sold the alcohol and stuff to Ray!
    Ps: what about Peri's scarf? How does it end up in the hospital? And what about the toy that Ray sees in the LL garbage bin?

      thb i think that ray picked up the scarf and put it on his head to stop the bleeding, and just took it with him to the hospital, and the toy in the garbage bin, that has me confused aswell. My best guess is that he imagined it.

    Ray hesitantly answered the question about drinking, and didn't even answer the question about them providing a safe household for Peri.

    • @djmotise
      @djmotise 4 года назад +1

      His delusions are based in feelings of inadequacy and guilt over the death of his first wife and unborn child. Since this family check-in never happened, the writer was showing Ray's character through this scene. Maybe a real hospital staff would never ask those bizarre questions. It was all in his paranoid mind.

  • @gertiesiegel3912

    I was so upset at the ending. Movie creators have used "the main character went crazy" way too much. If the hospital had actually ended up secretly harvesting people's organs, I would've liked it much better. And why would Ray shove his daughter off the ledge of a construction site just for losing her toy?

    I feel like he wasn’t delusional at all even though there was an innocent patient in the back at the end that was most likely his alternate reality coming into play again cause straight after it shows his wife smiling again at the end. Also the doctor was very suspicious when peri was getting her arm checked being creepy complimenting her eyes as soon as he mentioned that ray thought it was strange. It was way too descriptive for him to be hallucinating

    • @aaliyahfeacher5427
      @aaliyahfeacher5427 4 года назад +18

      SlenderUce His alternate reality was a way for him to cope with killing his family, so his alternate reality isn’t going to reveal to him the dead patient. We were shown the dead patient to see what really happened and his family is shown right after because then it switches back to showing it from his perspective, what he sees

    • @AdamMarriyati
      @AdamMarriyati 4 года назад +6

      @@aaliyahfeacher5427 Yes but the real question is, maybe he wasn't delusional at all? The dead patient is our audience alternate reality. Because there is one major clue in the movie that leads the audience to decide what is real and what is not and that is the yellow scarf.

    • @AdamMarriyati
      @AdamMarriyati 4 года назад +10

      How did the yellow scarf end up under the hospital bed if he wasn't even carrying around one. Besides the dog smelled the scarf to the suspected "murder" scene.

    • @aaliyahfeacher5427
      @aaliyahfeacher5427 4 года назад +7

      Adam Kelevra The dead patient was revealing what really happened which is why afterwards, it starts playing flashbacks of what’s really been happening the entire movie. And the scarf being in the hospital could simply mean that he took it in there with him, probably to further convince himself of his story

      @@aaliyahfeacher5427 I saw the movie mate. I know how it ended but my questions about the psychosis is a lot better review to the movie then what the movie being itself. Because the director did really wanna play a toll on the audience imagination. Still, even if we get the "reveal" its still a mindgame for the audience, we as the viewers might seen an alternate reality anyway because the ending gives a continous ending and not an ending itself. Get a grasp around it and eventually you'll understand. English is not my first language

    My dad literally said mid-way through the movie “I am so sure that he’s hallucinating”, while me and my mother were so confused like “Huh? Is this a hallucination or a real thing?” and the movie actually chilled me out especially with the eerie music playing in the background. But overall, this movie was great!

    I just watched this movie.
    When I saw Peri take that hard fall on concrete, I knew, she was supposed to be dead with a lot of blood or unconscious and near death but the actor playing Ray gave such a convincing , emotional and awesome performance that I was completely drawn in, into " his" story and was along for the ride and completely invested in him. I can't say enough about this actor.
    Good movie.
