The first 10 minutes of your video is one of the best things about fishing for me, a way to remember memories and people in the best of light. It inspired me to share a bit of my story.
As a younger child, I had a great relationship with my father, he taught me how to fish and everything outdoors. We even went on a yearly trip from Georgia to Canada for the best smallmouth fishing you've ever seen. In my teen years and on, our relationship became a bit rough and we lost that connection that we shared the strongest while we were fishing. As life goes on, I get away from fishing, with rarely a thought of it, careers and what not. Well, fast forward and my father passes away a bit too early of cancer. As he got into his 50's, we talked more and more about getting back to some fishing trips, our best way of connecting, but it never happened... The sadness and regret had a grip on me for a while, but eventually I got myself a Skeeter and got back on the water. I'm not sure if its my minds way of coping with loss or something else, but whenever I fire up that SHO and start idling out, I feel the best version of my dad next to me, the one who taught me how to fish and love everything outdoors.
Cheers BLat, thank you for sharing your passion with us.
P.S. Your Excitebite hoodie gets compliments everywhere I go.

My wife and I just had our first baby 2 days ago. Never been so grateful for anything in my life. Lil guy is awesome. This video was so fitting. Last couple days I’ve been thinking about all the times my dad would take me to the neighbors pond and cast a bait caster and hand It to me to reel in. 24 years later him and I are still fishing team tournaments together. Thanking God for all the memories and giving my dad the patience to teach me the ropes of fishing.

On my 13th Birthday, in August, happened to land on Friday 13th. We were on vacation in Gulf Shores, Alabama. My Dad and I had a 16ft Mercruiser ski boat that we had rigged out for salt water deep sea fishing and i didn't want to go out that day for fear that it would be the worst day of my life, but Dad convinced me it was only superstitions, and we caught over 200 Spanish Mackerel, before lunch. We were trolling 4 rods at the same time and when we went through a school of those Spanish, all 4 rods would bend down and id reel one after the other and ended up being one of the best days of my life.
    Thank you, and "Holdem Hook!"

My first big bass that got away right there in Lake Sinclair that you were just at. Just had gotten a 5'6" Shimano Bass Stick med action with a pistol grip and a Zebco Omega 191 (late 1970's from picking up hay for 10¢ a bale) I was throwing a Bomber Speed Shad in clear in Rocky Creek before all the houses, fishing from the bank about 3/4ths towards the back of the creek. As soon as the lure hit the water it exploded at first I could not even budge it, then finally got it moving gain 15 to 20 feet then loose 5 to 10 feet. That happened 4 or 5 times then my line just went slack, I was broken hearted only bass fishing for 4 years had not caught anything over 4lbs yet. When the line went slack I just quit reeling I didn't realize the the fish was swimming toward me(that had not ever happened to me before) then I just started reeling the line in slow upset I had lost the biggest bass I ever hooked. When about 30 feet from the bank he exploded again out of the water on his tail shaking his head and you know what happened next, the speed shad come flying out over the top of my head and got hung what looked 10 to 15 feet up stuck in a pine tree. Learned a valuable lesson that day never give up and just like big bucks the big ones don't get big by being dumb. They will wrapp you around stumps logs and anything they can find also "SWIM TOWARDS YOU" . I have been hooked ever since have over the years have landed a couple over 8 from Sinclair and a farm pond have landed a 10 and 12. Still have the Zebco Omega 191 & Shimano rod still have the Speed Shad tied to it. Reminder of the 1st big bass I hooked. I was in the 7th or 8th grade fished with my Uncle most of the time dad not a fisherman just hunting.🎣🎣🎣

Every fall I would take a week off school and stay with my grandparents at the county fair grounds. They were superintendents and ran the small stock barn which is now named after them. I was there to help care for the animals while the 4H kids competed in their other events. I always had some science entries for 4H on exhibit which didn't require my attention during the fair. Some of the other kids and I would stalk the carnival while the carnies were still asleep and try to find ride tickets that weren't ripped up that we could steal to ride free for the rest of the week. We would ride the zipper a bunch of times and see how long we could keep the cage flipping after the ride had ended. One night when the ride was stopping to change direction, we were all the way at the top and had the cage SPINNING we got a crowd making noise and the guy running the ride left us up there for a pretty long time. When the ride actually ended he told us that was awesome but please don't do it again.

Bro, I'm really proud of your success with fishing and more importantly, family. And you're right on! I just told my brother to get his kids off the "baby easy" spincast and onto a spinner. They catch on way faster than people think. His kids weren't progressing with spincast and I suspected it was because it's so baby easy that it doesn't spark any interest foe growth. They were casting on their own as far as most adults within the first hour we gave them to them!
May Allah guide and increase your family. Ameen

I Know that Brian Latimer is WAY to young , to Remember S&H Green Stamps ! But there used to Be a Grocery Store Chain That was called A&P Grocery ! And they had this thing , That depending on How much your Groceries were , They would give you , Green stamps ( the size of a normal stamp) to fill your "books " up with , like Bonus points ! But anyway , The only Green stamps Store , was in Asheville N.C. , about 45minutes away ! And to me , as a Little kid , Asheville was like going to Atlanta ! My Grandmaw and Grandpaw saved green stamps ! And one day we went to the Green Stamp store in Asheville !Me and my Pappaw always fished the Catawba River , Watersheds, Lake James , but just bank fished ! His yard was full of Big Ole Nightcrawlers and I'd pull a plastic Bread wrapper over my flashlight , so the light wouldn't scare em and we had a big tub with rich dirt we kept em in ! But anyway, were at the Green Stamp store , I'm thinking something for my Mam-maw , and she's looking and shopping ! Me and my pap-paw walked over to the sports department and looking at fishing stuff ! There up on the rack was a " Eagle Claw 6' Fiberglass rod , with real Cork Handles and chrome Eye's , with the Eagle Claw logo on it catching a fish with his Claws , and it had a Brand new Gen 1 first out , Stainless steel polished Zebco 33 ! My Pap-paw got it down for me and the first thing I did was shake it back and forth the see how stiff it was ! My Pap-paw got me that rod that day with 30 books of Green stamps they had been saving ! That same Rod is hanging in my Garage attic , Oiled and in a rod sock with nothing else around it , to harm it ! That rod has caught 100's of Shell cracker Bream , Catfish , Wall eye's , Bass , Trout ! It's Pushing somewhere around 50 yrs. old !

One of the things I'm most grateful for was the day the kid next door, who was a new neighbor since we'd just moved in a few months earlier and we didn't really know one another, but he saw that although I was on crutches, he noticed my uncle would take me fishing on weekends, so he said hey, do you like fishing? And I replied yes I do, and he then asked do you know how to bass fish? I said I think so, but I used to fish a lot with my uncle in upstate New York but we used Soda Cans instead of rods, but IDK if what we were catching were bass.
He said that's OK I have a couple of rods if you want to join me fishing down at Amelia Earhart Park (which was 7 looooong blocks away on crutches) down the street. I said let me ask my mom and she said yes, and we talked the whole way there and he taught me how to set up a Texas rig using a good ole Culprit Worm (THE ORIGINAL - STILL USE THEM TODAY) in Silver Shad and taught me how to work it on the retrieve, and on my first cast I hooked into a nice little 2 pounder. I knew immediately I'd be bass fishing for the rest of my life.
Although I was really already feeling it after the long crutching there, I didn't let it show and we fished for several hours that day, and to this day I am grateful for TONY TRIANA. One of the best fisherman on the planet and one hell of a friend. He didn't care that for the next 3 years I had to lug around my crutches everywhere we went.
He and I fished religiously together for several years and I have nothing be fond memories of our adventures, one of which was the day we left the headlights on in his Mom's truck while we fished the everglades, when we weren't supposed to even be driving because we were underaged! He was 15 and I was 14!!! That Miccosukee Cowboy was a total douche and we were lucky he accepted the 5 bucks we had to pay him for a jump start! 😂
I don't think there's a day that I fish that he doesn't pass through my mind at least once.
To a kid who would cry every day because he could only watch his siblings playing outside through a large plate glass window, because he couldn't partake, that day changed my life and I am forever grateful to you Tony, so THANK YOU.

New baitcaster tech has made them almost idiot proof. The reason older fishermen think baitcasters are harder is because even with the brakes rhe older ones were rough to learn 😂 if you wanted to cast far you had to thumb the spool right. nowadays the brake settings and tensioners are so good and so smoothe you can get away with barely feathering it. Really you can set it to not need to thumb the spool at all and still get great casts

Little man closing the bail by hand is amazing. I see 50 year olds that don’t understand the importance of manually closing the bail on their spinning reels.

It’s a default because his little hands aren’t strong enough to turn it with the handle. THAT IS A POSITIVE. You’re not supposed to close it with the handle anyways

I'm grateful for being blessed with 6 beautiful grandkids. The Lord blessed me with the means to buy my first ever bass boat. I'm grateful for health to be able to take my grandkids out on the boat and teach them to fish. Grateful to have a mind and memory to remember the memories that I will have.

Retired Army guy here. I can remember my dad waking me up on Saturdays, while it was still dark, to go fishing. He'd pull the covers off my feet and thump my toes and whisper, lets go. He is also a vet, Vietnam Airforce guy. We'd only go out for for a few hours, standing under the highway bridge with my "Cane Pole" in hand 🤣 (pause). Later he'd bring my younger brother and sister, but the fact that he took the time and gave us memories of a great child hood with him. He used spinning rods but wasn't necessarily bass fishing, we'd catch more white perch and catfish than anything else ( okatibbee reservoir Meridian Miss). I am thankful for those times, fishing became a way for me to deal with being away and to deal with PTSD from IRAQ, and AFGHANISTAN Wars and being stationed all over the world. Now that I am retired, I have a bass boat and live on a lake I don't fish as much these days but plan to get back out there a bit more.

I exprienced my greatest fear in a tournament last weekend. I lost what would have easily been big fish of the tournament and might have won me the tournament, I would have won anywhere from 900-2800 dollars. but nope. the hook simply popped out. I almost quit fishing for the day and I wanted to throw up

I'm grateful for the gospel of Jesus Christ. 2000 years ago God gave His son for us and we do not deserve it. I'm thankful that by God's strength and mercy we can thrive even when our circumstances fail us. Praise God and His abundant grace.

Bro, get back with those guys when u first started bro. Ive watched you 2 years with only one win. Maybe 3 years now. No big win. U literally sit on stuff or dnt analyze ur areas enough, with different baits. I dnt know if u need a better arsenal of skills. Like 1lbs and 3lbs aren't gna get these things won. Ur too good of an angler to fall by guys with basic knowledge of bass fishing. Wheeler, mark, dustin, go with them again.

My Grandmother got me my first rod I live in FL and I love in shore red fishing since I was 12 or 13 every Sunday morning after church I would go home and watch these fishing shows like gone fishing with hank parker and Bill dance outdoors well in FL they would play fresh water shows like that on Sat. Morning and Sunday they would play salt water shows like fishing the flats and I remember it like it was yesterday. So I asked my grandmother if I could get an Ugly Stik Rod and a salt water Quantum Reel because I fell in love with fishing...and I remember all those great times going fishing with my grandmother and grandfather. Anywho I just wanted to say God bless you and your family b.lat and don't be to hard on yourself K.V.D said west point lake is the worst fishing hole in America lol
