S07E06 - Shimano Nexus - Broken shifter

Hello everyone. Today we are going to replace a broken shifter on Shimano Nexus 7 speed internal geared hub.
Lets start by removing the old broken shifter and cable.
Lube the end of the outer gear casing and place the protective end cap over it. This repels water.
Route the cable through the outer.
Turn the adjustment knob all the way in. Then turn it two turns back.
Set your shifter in fourth gear. Check the manual for specific instructions.
Pass the inner cable through the fixing bolt.
Use the allen key to turn the pulley into position for hooking the cable to it.
There are two yellow setting lines on the hub that you should closely line up when placing the fixing bolt on the cable. This is a bit of trial and error. Use the adjustment knob for fine adjustment. Don’t forget that you should be in fourth gear on the shifter.
When all done, cut the cable and squeeze on the protective cap.

1:50 "...this is a bit of trial & error"..... not at all!The distance of the cable between the locking bolt center and the end of the cable guide should be 10cm.
Is this the same for the 8 speed and the 7 speed?

P.S. I didn't appear to have a hole in which to place the hex key to turn it, perhaps mine's an older model (8 year old DH7 Vitesse), that or it's full of dirt and invisible🙂
Missing parts of the disassemble in this movie, it sucks, you don't know we're the screws are mounted, the shifter is stuck and in this movie he pulls it right of the steering without disassemble.

Just replacing it is simple. Without a guide of the disassemblement of a shifter its useless.
That’s what i need too. No documentation from Shimano and no video i can find for THIS shifter

Why 7 speed doesn't lock on?

today I bought a bike with this system (Shimano Nexus 7 Speed), but forgot to ask the seller if gears are to be shifted while pedalling or do I have to stop pedalling between each shift. Could you please tell me what is the correct way?

You have to stop pedalling...this thing a millisecond... No worries!

Nuvinci,Rohloff,Pinion is different,you can change the gears under the pressure
