Was the .049 hydro carrying water in the back of the boat or was it the weight of the radio gear / batteries keeping the back end down? Was it in general just low on power for the over all weight of the project? Do you have any vid with running sound of the engine?

THE 4 battery Pak, Servo, and the receiver were it. 60 -40 ,weight distribution. IT seemed to work fine. THE setup was a straight shaft that kept the bow down. The first boat was a Little Miss Thriftway single channel (Digit Migit) and a non throttled Golden bee .049. The video, was taken from a Super 8 film capture back in 1970. THERE was a no sound available. IT was simply a full open.049. THE second boat was a Drag N' Fly 20 , running a 2 channel, World Engines radio, and using a ..25 O.S MAX with a Water jacket. Sound , noisy as heck. Time span , 1970 -1975. . (the Thriftway drowned in our local pond,) THe Drag N'Fly 20, went through various changes, (Including a mill change to a K&B 3.5 . THAT engine was poorly designed, and basically garbage. On a good day, when dialed in... it ran out at 20-25 MPH. , and was never a solid boat.
My Fast Electric : Black Jack 24 , will do 30-35 without breaking a sweat. So, back to Drag N' Fly. I eventually sold it in 1977. LOVE the hobby,, but not the tinkering , or fixing the next broken part. Thanks for the interest.

@@marknickells6097 Did you use the metal 1/2A prop or the white nylon prop with the Golden Bee engine? TD would help to lift the back up a bit and add around 6mph of speed.
