    "... making the swimming more effortless." that is just like when in a movie they mention the title!, love it!! It's great how this vid summarizes and reinforces multiple important points for a good form.

    A and B leg coordination methods is great coaching communication!
    B method is entry + opposite foot kick at 15:51…try lying on the floor in streamline. Without moving any body parts, roll over to one side…feet tight together, no cheating. Very hard to stop torso from twisting.
    Now allow yourself to cheat…one foot naturally pushes your same side hip up (feel the hard floor “push” on the top of the foot like very tight shoes) then the body rocks & rolls to the other side. The floor provides resistance feedback and awareness that’s not as easy to feel in the water. Now try adding stroke recover and entry (= reach forward placing hand flat on the floor) with opposite arm, coordinated with push into the floor with the top of the foot.
    A good down kick exactly timed at the opposite hand entry (not catch) emphasizes and assist the body rotation.

    Great video, Brenton. One thing that struck me is how Sharon’s entry is at the apex of her catch. i.e. the power diamond shape. This seems to contradict the concept of front quadrant swimming - something I’ve been trying hard to drill in. Are there scenarios where FQS may not be suited? Would adding FQS to this technique make it even better?
    Thanks again for all the content. It’s unmatched.

    • @EffortlessSwimming
      @EffortlessSwimming  Год назад

      that's still front quadrant though, if you look at the above water view and go through it slowly, you'll see there is always something in front of her head

    • @mybakingtray
      @mybakingtray Год назад

      @@EffortlessSwimming thanks for the reply. It seems I misunderstood front quadrant 😅 To be a little more specific, it’s strikes me as a late entry compared to, say, your vid on Solomon Wright who is entering sooner at the ‘M’ of the YMCA. Is there an optimal timing or is it down to personal preference?

    • @EffortlessSwimming
      @EffortlessSwimming  Год назад +2

      @@mybakingtray depends what suits your style really. When one hand enters, other hand should be anywhere from the M (catch position) to just past the C (power diamond). Thats the range I look for

    I’m curious. I’m doing a two beat kick and I’ve tried both right arm pull and right leg kicking down and the opposite (R arm & L leg).
    When both arm and leg on the same side are engaged it feels like you are getting more resistance in the water when you kick.
    In essence your leg kick is counteracting the movement of your hips.
    When you do the opposite it feels like your kick effort is mitigated by the movement of your hips.
    And yet my lap times appear similar if not slightly faster when I do opposite limbs.
    Which is technically faster and why?

    Hola. El brazo que se mantiene en el frente debe ser paciente y esperar al brazo del recobro, deberia esperar en el area entre la mano y el codo para empezar el anclado. En este caso del video se apura y mientras la brazada ingresa al agua el brazo de apoyo ya está dando el impulso. Nada perfecto bajo mi punto de vista en la tecnica. Espero sea de ayuda mi comentario. Saludos

    • @sergio_grez
      @sergio_grez Год назад

      Creo que eso tiene que ver con que la técnica que mencionas no es necesariamente la técnica correcta para largas travesías en aguas abiertas, lo cual es a lo que se dedica la chica mencionada aquí, con nados de 10 Kilómetros. La técnica destinada a aguas abiertas es distinta a lo que se hace normalmente en piscinas y tramos cortos. Yo nado en piscina y aguas abiertas y ciertamente las condiciones son distintas por muchos factores los cuales influyen y repercuten totalmente en la eficiencia del nado. Saludos.

    This is way more effort than necessary. If she was swimming against guys with equal muscle power and stamina, she'd be dead last. Her technique is pretty rotten, in fact, but then again Ledecky ther female legend swims almost without legkicks. Just goes to show how different females are made, mostly from testosterone levels
