I can't think of a single time Steven Spielberg said something negative about another director's movie. He's got real class, or he's easy to please, or he just knows what it's like to be a younger director who get's a negative comment about his work from one of his heroes, and he doesn't want to do that to anyone else.

There is at least one person of whom Steven Speilberg DID have something bad to say: Kathleen Kennedy. She was terrible at her job (taking notes), and her greatest contribution was interrupting creative discussions to offer her own stupid ideas. ruclips.net/video/f6IHtM6sZeQ/видео.html

As Steven himself once said to Shia Lebeouf: "There's a time to be a human and have an opinion, and there's a time to sell cars." Spielberg's doing what he ought to be doing as an EP. That said, I believe he genuinely likes the film. There's zero doubt in my mind that this will be a wonderful cap on the adventures of Indy. . . so much so that I vaguely detect an air of insecurity and ego in his response. From a basic, human perspective, I can only imagine the mixed feelings that come with having another director's success---in a franchise you co-created---compared to your prior (unappreciated) effort by the press. No matter how much of a champion Mr. Spielberg is of other filmmakers, this sort of situation must press on old wounds to some degree. He's certainly been open about his self-consciousness in various interviews over the decades.

They have delayed this movie for over a year now because the early test audiences absolutely hated it, especially the original ending where they killed Indy and Fleabag took his hat and became the new Indy. But they also did not like all of the scenes where Fleabag insulted Indy and was made to look better than him in his own field of expertise. From what I have seen and read, there have been extensive re-shoots and re-edits of the script, toning down the insults, making Indy the hero again (in a movie about HIM), and re-shooting the ending so Indy survives, saves Fleabag, and rides off into the the retirement sunset.
If they kill Indy and let that woman have his fedora, they can kiss away any meaningful profits and will be lambasted by the fans!

when the tank falls from the cliff, the turret detach from the hull and there is no access to the turret from the inside of the tank,it's solid steel or whatever the model is made from, which is kind of right because the added a fake turret to a Mk.4 "Tadpole" tank from ww1(that didn't have one).
Also, "the bridge of faith" moving all over the place under Indy's feet (I noticed that the first time I watched the movie), that's really bad, like a B type movie made in a garage.
They just botched it because they knew that people would go to see it anyway, "no need to waste money to do it right" and that's too bad because the story was good, even if the crystal skull was not great. it still was 10 times better made than the last crusade.

This movie has been delayed over a year to do reshoot after reshoot, going $150M over budget. All because Kathleen Kennedy wanted to use time travel to erase Indy from history and insert Fleabag in his place. The fans voiced their outrage at this, and hence all the reshoots. It’s likely to still be pure crap despite Mangold’s efforts. You can only do so much when you have Kathleen “Eye of Sauron” Kennedy and her obsessive feminazi inferiority complex breathing down your creative neck. I hope this movie bombs so Bob Iger will finally fire her as promised.

He found a way to tell the truth, without telling the truth… at the premier, Spielberg says there’s three people that he had to bring up who without those three people in Indiana Jones would never have been an iconic film attic figure. George Lucas, Harrison Ford, and last, but certainly not least, John Williams. That’s right he left Kathleen Kennedy out and she was standing 3 feet to his right. That was the greatest dig of all time.
This was Steven Spielberg telling us. The movie sucks. He can’t say it outwardly because Kathleen Kennedy knows where certain bodies are buried, but he found a way to say it without saying it and I love it. We all know this movie is going to suck ass and nobody likes Phoebe Waller Bridge, so Hollywood stop trying to sell her to us.

I wonder if it's going to fall somewhere in between Temple of Doom and KOTCS in terms of quality. I still don't like how perfect certain things look. The just released clip from Cannes where Indy and Helena are talking while racing Tuk Tuk's through the streets looks to green screened to be believable. There is also a scene where Indy is on a horse at the parade and his face is sooooooooooo CGI it's laughable. I think we are in an era where studios have too many options to cut corners with special effects and some of that is happening in Dial of Destiny like when the bad guys fall through the floor in the first trailer and there is a giant explosion, like the explosion is way to big just like in KOTCS at the beginning when the jeep breaks through the warehouse and there is another HUGE explosion when it should have just been splintered wood. I will say the trailers so far make this look amazing so I have hope it is going to definitely be better than KOTCS and Temple of Doom.
