MAKING A VIKING HELMET

  • Ben Eadie asked if I could build something with his new product line of scalemail for a kick starter he is about to launch. And of course I said challenge accepted. This is what I came up with, a custom Viking Helmet made from: 6 mm, 4 mm, and 2 mm EVA, Ben Eadie's EVA foam chainmail and scalemail, contact cement, hot glue, super glue, Plasti Dip, spray paint, acrylic paint pens, and some Plaid FX acrylic paints. You may also need the following tools: heat gun, wood burner, a Dremel with various bits, and xacto knife or box cutter. Let me know in the comments below if you would like to see more like this one, from shows, video games, or whatever. Please smack that like button, dropkick subscribe, and share with as many people as possible.

    Awesome helmet, amazing work! And thank you for a Sutton Hoo'esque look that does not have horns.
    Another Viking fun fact for you - contrary to popular myth, Vikings were not major drinkers of mead, at least not in arctic climes, where bees were not dominant. Instead, they would drink fermented milk that had been sewn into a sheep's stomach and buried underground until it matured.

    Perfect timing on the video as I had just received the email about the kickstater. I was excited to see some of the pledge levels have masks/helmets made by you. Big question is are those masks sized at 100%? I only ask because they would be just a tad big large to actually wear were I to pledge at those levels.

    • @MuchProps
      @MuchProps  3 года назад +2

      I believe I sized them to fit me when making them. So they would be a bit large for the normal person. Dang this giant cranium. LOL. I've been holding this build back for a while, waiting on the Kickstart to go live. SO pumped Eadie included me in on it. Truly humbled.

    Thomas. Another of my fave builds ! That looks flipping excellent. I am always too scared to try and cut the detailed inlays but might have a go with this inspirational template. Mine is going to be different size as I have an idea to make it fit over a horse-riding helmet for my daughter.
    I’m also trying to figure out how to make a face guard for her horse to match it. In a Rohan style of course. Wish me luck and would love to see your take on the horse armour idea? Keep safe !

    • @MuchProps
      @MuchProps  3 года назад +1

      Those overlays can be tedious but well worth the details they add. You can do as much of the shaping before gluing it down, that way is you mess up it does ruin your helmet. If your horse is well tempered you can pull a template off of them. I did a video a while back where I made dog armor from Fallout for my chiwinnie.
