Hi. I have the same problem with my BMW F11 525D 2012 model. I have just got replaced the turbocharger in a car workshop. The car is running good at normal speed and normal acceration. IF I accerate a bit hard then the drivetrain error comes on the screen. The error dissappear if I turn off and on the engine. I run Autofix diagostic can not find any error codes. What kind of diagnostic tools are you using?
This has happened twice on my 2014 550, both times were during Hard acceleration while in manual mode. I have floored it in auto mode and it seems to be fine. Turning off car gets rid of error message and car drives normal.
hey brother… i recently got a drivetrain malfunction on the freeway on about a 2 hour round trip , luckily 20 or so miles from coming home i received an error. i was accelerating to 70pmh with 120miles left to the tank. advising me to seek service center service center i pull over , as the car has a shake , and as i restart the car after waiting , it drives fine for another 15miles home. about 4000 miles prior i had got the same error with engine misfiring had replaced some engine coils and a spark plug with a oil housing leak fix as well.now i am here it is late and i am just thankful to not have been stuck on the freeway in the dark rainy weather 25 minutes from home
@@Heart4Soul Hi. Drivetrain malfunction can appear for numerous different reasons and that’s why it is really important to know the symptoms and the codes that is stored in PCM. With the misfire it is 90% bc of bad spark plug or coil pack. The one I was working on drove perfectly fine with no misfire but it didn’t accelerate fast like there was no turbo power. I hope this comment will help others to diagnose their cars better.
Mine had the same reaction it works fine but when I accelerate fast it pops up on the computer and starts shaking bad like if it’s going to turn off so I turn off let it cool for a while and back on and back to normal
I have a 2015 bmw 428i gran coupe and it gives me the drivetrain malfunction while it overheats. The fan gets loud and turns on and off while driving. I’ve changed the radiator fan, thermostat and relay for the fan and the problem still continues. Any idea or info is greatly appreciated
You have a electronic water pump in the car. To know if it works or not. Step1: open the hood and coolant cap. Step2: Turn the ignition on. (Engine off) Step3: turn the Heat on to max temp with lowest fan speed . Step4: press and hold the gas pedal for 10 seconds. This is coolant bleeding process for bmw and if your pump works you will hear it and also you can go out and look at the coolant tank to see if there is any circulation. If nothing then you will need to replace the pump. What is the mileage on your car ?

Hey I replaced my boost solenoid recently, week later I get codes 108F01 intake plenum suspicion of leaks between exhaust turbocharger and intake valves followed by 120308 “charging control plausibility pressure too low. I have a brand new boost solenoid and got a slight oil leak from valve cover. Any ideas? Thank you
What is the mileage on your vehicle? The worst case is turbocharger has a crack in it where the west gate should hold the pressure or west gate itself is worn. Check the hoses that goes from turbo till throttle body. Tighten the clamps bc they might let the air out as well.

@@francisadu-gyamfijr2322 bro no dealer too much money what I'm saying is that about two months ago I had someone drop off a 2013 bmw 328 Ix drive no Star and it was like a Christmas 🎄 decorated on the dash every warning light was on, after checking every fuse and relay I end up going under the car to check the ground wire,and it was intact but when I put.my finger on it it broke in half so I I replaced it with the new one and everything is fine with that car to this day, that may not fix your issue but it's not a expensive part to replace give it a try and good luck to you...
@@aslanmammadov2230 when I go over 3k revs. I took the car to the dealership for a diagnostics and the told me the solenoid pressure value needed replacing and ordered to part through them. They didn't give me any codes just told me what to replace. I called them and they basically said I need to come back and pay for another diagnostics which aren't cheap
@@matthewchang9075 im not sure how many miles on your car but it sounds like you will need new spark plugs. dont get cheap ones bc they will do the same thing.
According to the codes you have stretched timing chain. But they should not give you trans mulfunction. How many miles on the clock ? And regular scanners won’t read trans code. If you haven’t yet I think you should scan the trans codes with proper scanner. The bmw trans goes into limp mode when you have bad crankshaft position sensor as well bc the computer doesn’t know the speed of the engine to match it to trans

@@slrroute when you push the start do you hear click from starter nothing? If you hear click and engine doesn not spin you may have a locked engine. If you don’t hear anything you probably have a bad starter. But since your engine quit running while you were driving tells me you locked your engine.

In general, it occurs : - During long trips when i accelerate to fit on the highway after having a short stop in a rest aera (~15 min) - After being in the traffic jam (the car gets hotier) then i accelerate Was your experience similar to mine or was it in random situations ? In my case, do you think it can be due to a defective boost pressure selenoid too ? (my HPFP already broke and been replaced ) Thanks for your help
Hi. As long as I didn’t accelerate hard I didn’t have any problems. And it’s also important to to check the codes on your car to see what trouble codes you have. If it’s boost related codes then yes you might have the same issue
If you get drivetrain malfunction on bmw it’s usually something affecting the power of the car such as turbo or spark related problems. Knowing the codes are very important when diagnosing. If you watch the video I mention it and also mention what kind of codes I had.
When my drive train malfunction came on it was my coil just 1 of them now that light comes on when there is anything wrong it can be something smart to big so this isn’t the only thing that will make it come on bro
No one said this is only the thing will make mulfunction. You need to know what engine code is stored then you can diagnose the problem. If your problem is boost related then this is much likely what it is.

I have a 2010 550i Gt and it’s doing the same thing. Except when I first turn it on it’s already shaking saying drivetrain malfunction. We’ve changed the spark plugs and computer and the issue is still there. Any help ? Thank you !
@@alexai4731 so your problem is not same as mine. First step would be changing spark plugs with NGK or Bosch. If it stays the same switch the coil packs from 1-2 and 5-4 to see if codes change. If so change coil packs if not then check fuel injectors.
This problem happens when boost selenoid malfunctions or it’s possible that you plugged the vacuum lines on opposite sides. Switch their spots and see if it fixes it

The selenoid fixed the problem. The car doesn’t have any mulfunction problems after replacing that boos regulator selenoid

Is it still misfiring ?
If you have used cheap plugs that can cause jerky acceleration. Make sure to use Bosch laser or double iridium plugs

@@jvz_5.0 at such a low miles I don’t think your turbo has crack. Check your hose clamps. One of them might be loose.
@@jvz_5.0 there is so much air pressure in those hoses even really slight slack will let air push out.

So mines came up after I took it to a mechanic shop and they replaced a sensor that had to do with something else so I’m not sure what to look for ….

On Monday my car cut off in the middle of the road and won’t start it came up as drivetrain malfunction so what am I supposed to do get a new engine?

@@RichardE3046 fixed mine yesterday. I did a diagnostic with ista and it was a faulty map sensor. Replaced it and had my power back and no error.

Definitely check the stored codes. There may not be check engine light but cdes will be there.

If it’s shaking at first start that is probably your spark plugs, do you get any codes ?
