Thank you Kris. I am a 50 yo mother with low tech and just bought 2024 Model Y for my teenage daughter because of its safety rating. I learned a lot about tesla from watching your videos. Love all your clips, short, simple and straightforward. Thank you so much!!!
Cannot see live video from sentry mode, and have it checked on in the app, both the car and the app fully updated. I am in Miami Florida. Why is this??
Hey Chris, thank you for these quick tips, I've picked up some new info and refreshed some things I thought I understood. Keep them coming please, this car is full of features and we all need to keep them in mind. Cheers.
Is there any way to have the footage with all the different angles on one screen outside of the car? Similar to how it's shown inside the car? It seems that the USB doesn't allow this and you end up with four videos for one particular moment
I just picked up my car yesterday 😊. I plan on putting a dark tint on the windows. Does anyone know if this will compromise the effectiveness of the sentry mode? I realize the cameras are mounted externally, but are the sensors that trigger them inside of the cabin? I just wanna make sure that I'm not gonna mess anything up.
Hi Chris, I been following your videos and it help me a lot as a new tesla owner. The one thing I can’t figure out is to view the recorded video on the tesla app. If you know the answer, could you please make a quick video on this subject and thank you.
Great Tesla videos! Do you know why I'm unable to see "view live camera" on my mobile app? I only see "activate surveillance" under Security and Drivers?
Hi Chris, I am a new owner of Tesla model Y, I try backing in my garage but need another family member staying at the back while backing in . Do you know how do I activate the backing in parking sensor on model Y. Thanks
There should be option on the Tesla-App to enable or disable the dashcam-live-view without disabling the sentry-mode. The “live view” drains the battery 🪫 very quickly; Tesla should make it easy to enabling or disabling from its the App. In the future, they should have have a separate dedicated battery 🔋that powers the sentry mode live viewing cameras and systems instead of using the only main battery the Tesla has.
I think dashcam is crucial these days. I really hope all cars have or at least have an option to have an dashcam. sick of putting on using after market one. :(
Heyy , i just have a question regarding the saving of dashcam , lets say i saved a clip on monday , if i drove on Tuesday the clip will be deleted? Or it only deletes the files when the storage is full? I am a bit confused in this point . Lets say i have a large usb , whats the point of only saving 10 minutes and deleting it when i start the car again? Is it possible to briefly explain how much clips it saves and what does it do when the storage is full? Thank you
How the heck do I access the saved dashcam clips on the car's touchscreen? I tap the dashcam icon and it only "saves" the clip, nothing comes up for me to view saved clips, and I know I have several saved clips? Have a new 2023 MYLR with most recent update. THX!
I have sentry record mode enabled, and there was a little notification on the dashboard saying there was one security event, and when I click it, it takes me to screen it says there are no recorded events. (why did it alert me of an event to view if theres nothing to see?) I have a tesla Model Y which comes with a USB stick plugged in already.
Is there any way to have the footage with all the different angles on one screen outside of the car? Similar to how it's shown inside the car? It seems that the USB doesn't allow this and you end up with four videos for one particular moment
Hey Chris, I have a 2022 Model 3 LR with the smaller 12v lithium battery. I was told I couldn't put in an after market dashcam, but I see you've got one. Can you please tell me how you keep power to the dashcam ..... do you use a battery backup?
Hmm I don’t. Have an aftermarket dash cam I have a radar detector. I did see people use a battery back up though. I have one on my other car. Cell link neo that connects to the dash cam.
I recently just picked up my M3LR and for some reason my Tesla records my whole trip from work all the way home. It records for about 45 mins and it’s saved. Is this something new for the 2023 models?
I got a 2018 Model 3. I just want to point out that there is no USB port in the glove compartment for the 2018. The USB drive needs to be installed into one of the two USB ports located in the front compartment of the center console.
My ONLY disappointment with my Model 3 is that I cannot chose "USB" as my default music source, because unless Sentry Mode is left on, the USB data port will shut down and the music will default back to streaming or whatever. I prefer to listen to my own favorites on USB as opposed to having to skip through all the junk I don't want on one of the streaming channels. Having to manually re-start USB for my music each day is a drag. So I've been leaving Sentry mode on, but that's not a great solution, either.
@@EverydayChris I've since found a reasonable solution. Not ideal, but good enough for now. Just issue the voice command "USB" from the steering wheel after starting the Tesla and the music on the USB port will begin playing again, right where it left off. Even if the car has been in "sleep" mode.
The sentry mode drains the battery crazy fast so I always disable it to avoid frequent charging, today someone scratched on my side doors with a key seems like and I didn’t capture it. Pros and cons.
I've owned my M3 for about a year now and still love your tips and trick video on Teslas. Also quick note, I notice that Sentry mode drain about 1% of battery every hour for me.
@@EverydayChris yeah I did under services tab power off option, made sure app was updated and car software was updated… idk what else to do, have researched and made sure my VIEW CAMERA ON APP option is turned on… it’s so odd. I use to be able to and suddenly one day I tried but could not.
The average person drives 12k miles a year, I would recommend you estimate based on your most traveled places during the week from your home. This x 12mo should give you a rough estimate.
The newer model Y has USB 3.0. So much 2 and 3yr old info is out there. What is the current specs for the glovebox USB port. I'm shopping for a SSD, but want to know what Tesla really needs as a minimum? Especially on the read rate. Yes, the Sandisk external SSD has a crazy 1000Mbit/sec transfer rate, but micro sdcards can have a wimpy 100Mbit/sec transfer rate. What is the transfer rate of the current flash stick included with the 2023 MY? And also, practically speaking, what sizes are overkill? Like can you actually fill up a 1TB, or even a 500GB drive? Can someone testify to the fact that with occasional honking and people walking around your car in a parking lot that all the real world saved videos after a year don't even amount to 25GB? Remember, it's not a modern dashcam overwriting a filled up file system.
You need to upgrade your audio. Video is great, but if you were to get great audio, you'd be in the very top level of YT quality. You can do it easily.
The image quality of the Tesla cameras is rubbish. Don’t rely on it to record detailed essential information, such as number plates because it doesn’t. The side cameras wash out whenever sunlight hits them and you will see when that happens when a warning shows up on the screen. My advice is that you install a two channel front/rear camera and use the Tesla cameras as backup.
@@farmerfarmerer3847 any decent dashcam has better resolution than the cheap crap Tesla fitted into its cars. I’ve had many dashcams on many cars over the years and even the cheapest 1080p from 10 years ago produced better results. You dont need the most expensive to get clear images (must have good resolution at night especially when raining).
There's no way in hell I'm putting my Tesla to sleep at work. Lots of people and co-workers come and go at our parking lot and the last thing I need is to have my Tesla not record if someone hit it with their vehicle.
I guess in Portugal this is illegal on public roads, however I guess it is "dead law" and nobody check it. Any Portuguese lawyer here who now more on that?
Yeh, this sucks. Had a road rage event but my USB had no data on it when I went to check it. Totally undependable for door locking, walk away, seat auto adjustments, and on and on and on. They are really good at the AI tech, but suck at regular car things with ZERO REGARD for their customers.
I’m sorry you had this experience, a perfect example of all this technology NOT working to actually have documentation saved when your in a moment of distress.. Tesla and Elon really do stink.. not happy with my purchase at all..
The tesla recording functionality really is really really bad!!! For example WHY is can’t i save a trip, why is there a USB in 2023, it’s an old standard, tesla being cheap should be usbc period. Why can i play and save clips without using a computer, really so many unnecessary steps.. good grief..

can i schedule sentry mode to turn on for a given time frame like between 11pm and 7am? I park on city streets
you cant but you can set a reminder and turn on/off sentry mode
great video. two questions. 1) what bigger hard drive do you recommend 2) what dash cam do you use, and do you have an install video for that
i use the sandisk 1tb ssd! Holds plenty! dash cam is tesla sentry mode!
Do they give you special hearing advantages?
What external hard drive I should buy which is enough to use, and how much is the cost? Thank you
Check the accesories video! I recommend an ssd
How come I set exclude home for sentry mode but it still recording
There's a bug I believe. Mine is doing the same thing
