I have no idea how a Christian could look at these "creations" and not be radicalised against ai. I'm not at all religious but seeing these makes me think the Amish have a point.
You don't have to be Christian for very long to encounter heresy. Christianity is basically an unpassable test, like the one from the "Rath of Kan" Star Trek movie. We all play the game, but we all lose in the end and need the grace of God to be good. Nonchristian work isn't even trying to play. TLDR: what you are feeling right now about AI art is pretty much what we Christians feel about basically everyone and everything. I not sure how to explain what that is like to somebody who hasn't lived it, but I can say it makes it very hard to get "radicalized" against anything. It does sometimes happen, but usually that has more to do with people having "pet pevs" than it does about being Christian.
With the horrifying flight attendant picture, it really activates that uncanny horror of being so old that your eyes just see figures and assume human when they don't look like that at all. Honestly makes me think of why the sweet old lady almost never appears in internet horror
My guess as to how these IA farms formed: Sandcastle Jesus + Sand Painting: One of the most popular bible stories about Jesus describes him drawing in sand for an unknown reason. The IA farmers may have started out trying to depict this scene to target older Americans before accidently combining it with sandcastles and painting sand, something people have a very passing knowledge of but lack the ability to discern how realistic it is. Flight Attendants: praying woman are commonly seen as sexy, especially to older generations, as are flight attendants, combine that with fears lots of people have about flying and the farmers go from praying at random places to praying on a plane (because older people would feel it's a good place to pray) to sexy flight attendants praying. Landscapes other beachside encounters: for over a thousand years poetry has had a popular genre about encountering Jesus on a beach, not sure why, but it's where a lot of stories about "seeing Jesus in nature" comes from. The AI may be trying to combine this idea with preparing floats (that often depict Jesus) for parades, which is also something that happens on beaches sometimes. This also probably explains all the strange "contraptions" as you call them being pulled out of water. Because they are probably based off of parade floats in some way. Jesus saves the animals? _ My only guess is that the same AI farmers who make "people saving animals" AI art genre also do the Jesus AI art farming, so this is just more random cross pollination of AI farming. A lot of the rest of the categories are probably attempts to use various common painting styles to make Jesus look fancy, though not many of them have the desired effect. The fairies are probably meant to be cherubs, though I'd be surprised if AI knows the deference. Mud: a reference to John the Baptist
A note on the flight attendant thing A lot of them are Asian so I expect that the person writing the prompts (if it's not automated) is Asian too. In Asia being a flight attendant is a status symbol - a job interview for a flight attendant there looks more like a modeling agency interview. I think that a lot of them are Asian flight attendants because some Chinese/Korean/Japanese AI user is trying to make it look like praying and faith is cool and desirable, so they depict the hottest profession praying. I guess being a soldier is also desirable and cool, so yeah, make the soldiers pray too. I also find it funny that some pictures feature a "Eastern-ish" pose (Jesus on the plane sitting in the Lotus position at 25:45 , the flight attendant at 47:05 with a Mudra-like hand position). The Jesus Contraptions could be some weird-ass AI spin on a prompt containing the words "raft", "jesus", "great", "ark", which would make sense as there are many Christian artworks depicting the Genesis Flood with Christian people on rafts.
@@chem1a914 Great insights. If I were to try to summarize the Asian Jesus AI farming in 1 sentence it would be: Asian AI farms targeting Americans are lazy, Asian cultures often are lazy in general about making sure their depictions of Jesus are "lore accurate" to biblical tradition, (if you don't believe me, try looking up Asian cults, their Jesus is often less Christian than Deadpool) combining these 2 forms of laziness with computer automation and you get the mind trippyness you are seeing on screen here. All that being said, it wouldn't surprise me if a lot of the flight attendants are Asian for no reason whatsoever. AI farmers in Russa or the middle east, Africa, or even the Americas could be copying the Asian community's homework simply because currently AI is better at depicting Asian flight attendants and the target audience doesn't care about Asian vs American looking girls in this inherently multinational setting (on a plane I mean).

These people are only doing this for attention and for some unGodly reason, it's working... The sand sculpture ones honestly aren't that unbelievable/out of the realm of possibility (aside from how intricately detailed they are..) as there are legitimate sand artists that can and have made some very detailed sculptures out of just sand, no glue or anything. One was displayed in some museum where a couple teenagers decided it would be funny to mess with and ended up destroying (idk why it wasn't behind glass but whatever I guess) so the artist had to be flown back out there to recreate it at, you can imagine, a significant cost. What I think is happening with the oddly common elements like the helicopter crowd gold jesus is these image generators don't rawdog your prompt, there is a pre-processing GPT step that elaborates on your prompt before feeding it to the image generator. So the person is probably typing a generic prompt like "jesus fighting satan" which is first pushed through a GPT step to become "Renaissance painting of Jesus fighting Satan with a glowing blue sword. 4k. Artstation. 14:9 aspect ratio, racially diverse. Jesus winning." Then that prompt is used to generate a bunch of images.

The reason AI art is so interesting is because it is attempting to take visual knowledge from every single point of view that it has access to. Every culture and religion, political and ideological point of view on the subject gets condensed down into one single reflection of light, which is of course worth a thousand words. What you may get out of that may not resemble what any one person would expect, but it logically points out informational intersections of how things are viewed that would never naturally intersect. That gives us brand new insights. What may at first seem silly or garbled, may hold a tiny seed of unknown truth that grows into a very powerful fundamental truth.
