    Suggestions - plastic gloves & only use Honda original OEM Transmission Fluids

    I know this is an old thread, but if you want to totally change the trans fluid and replace with new, I suggest taking it to someone that uses the BG fluid replace machine.
    My 2013 developed the famous Honda shudder at about 30-40 mph. I took it to my local Honda dealer and I watched that machine in action. When I left there the shudder was gone and still is. It had 134K on it when I had that done. The machine has OEM Honda fluid in it. The change you see in this video changes 1/3rd of your dirty fluid.

      Same thing happened to me. Did exactly what you did was fixed. I'm getting a "rattlle" noise on a cold start up now. I'v read it could be the Valve Timing Control (VTC). I've read the replacement process and felt like I was in a math trig high school class, just lost. Hope that to expensive to have replaced...prob is.

    • @david_echo
      @david_echo Год назад

      @@johnfoster5039 Engine work is never cheap but necessary. The VTC is the culprit a large percentage of the time. I have driven some cars a long ways after that noise started.

      @John Foster Chrisfix has a video demonstrating vtc actuator replacement in the Honda 2 4l engine. If you possess some common sense you can replace it yourself for a couple hundred dollars in a day. Any shop is going to charge $1000+ for the job.

      This helped me out for my 2014 Honda CRV AWD! I even had them perform Service Bulletin 15-086 for the Honda CR-V. I will only get a flush if somebody is using the BG fluid replace machine.
      Regarding the comment with the rattle noise, that has nothing to do with your transmission. That's a different service bulletin, and it affects all Honda CRVs from 2012-2014 if I remember correctly. Unfortunately the Dealership charged me $2K to fix this, because they had to replace the timing chain as well.

    For a "curbside" mechanic, the video quality and acting/narration are great! Unfortunately, the instruction is flawed. 1) Always use Honda ATF DW-1, unless you are desperate, then get it flushed asap. 2) I always change drain/fill washers on each change. 3) This is not a flush. Just a drain/fill. You left all the bad oil in the lines, cooler, torque convertor and passages in the teans. So now you have a mix of burned and good oil in there. Drain/fill is okay if you do it before the fluid gets burned or worn out. I do drain/fill every 20-30K and have dealer do the Flush every 100K.

  • @stephenjackson4392
    @stephenjackson4392 2 года назад +3

    Thats not a flush. That is just a drain and top up. The system still has fluid threw out and inside the torque converter. Also ONLY use Genuine Honda fluid

    Uh 2014 owners manual says 2.7 quarts and not 2.3 and you should only use honda transmission fluid. Honda is also pretty finicky when fluids arent oem like power steering fluid.

    "Flush" in the title is misleading. This is simply a drain and fill. A flush rinses out all of the old fluid before replacing.
