The Full Windsor has the perfect amount of Benedictine. I made it with Boulard Calvados VSOP and some too old Carpano Antica Formula. Even with the old vermouth, it was still great. Can’t wait to try it with some fresh stuff!
Every time I watch one of your videos I get inspiration to make a drink of my own. I'm going to use one of my bottles of calvados, Johnny double black (just a ¼oz) maple syrup and lemon juice. I'll let you know how it turns out.
Hey Eric! I’m just jumping back behind the bar and after a while off and helping my bar manager tweak our fall menu. Would it be ok to pitch him one of your drinks? This series has been super helpful for me and I’m loving the podcast!
Hello Erick! Definitely will try the Full Windsor, and I will try to get it done perfectly the first time, unlike how each and every time over the last 40 years I made the knot I always had to do it 2 or 3 times to get the length exactly where I wanted it. Looks like a drink right up my alley, and you're right: it looks like I'd find it at PJ Clarke's (when I journey back home) or another old school place, having been on the menu since the late nineteenth century. I'll need to wait on the other two recipes, as I am missing a few ingredients. Cheers!
Don’t even get me started on PJ Clarke’s! I miss that place. I haven’t been since the pandemic. Ain’t nothing like having a beer and burger at that place.
@@BartenderAtLarge I grew up in NYC, and moved to California for college and stayed. But I go to PJC (original location) every time I'm back, for more than 40 years. We were there last November. I love introducing friends.
Ha I had no idea the Full Windsor was an Erick Castro original 😊 Been making those for years as a winter nightcap, think I found it online a while ago on Imbibe or something similar!
Do you have any tips on the best way to stir cocktails? I see that your stir is a bit shorter than what I see other bartenders doing. I know it has to do a lot with the quality of the ice that determines the amount of dilution you get and whether your stirring glass is chilled before. Lots of factors but I wish I could get a video of how a professional like you approaches the technique of stirring and how different factors could affect your technique.
It's really the last 3 or so episodes that really killed that final season of GoT. There were good episodes in that season, but can't fault anyone for hating that season for how it ended. What a travesty!
Yeah, I think you are right. It definitely did have its moments. In fact the high points were pretty incredible. I mostly think that the last episode was just so bad, it somehow retroactively made the previous episodes worse 🤣
Liked the explanation of dashes! About GoT: I think that you took it too seriously and therefore felt unimpressed by the last episode/season. It was good entertainment and that's all it is and will ever be. IMO.
For those new to your channel, an explanation about the "dash" without the attitude would have been appreciated. While I wholeheartedly agree about the Game of Thrones, I won't be back.
Season 8 was sort of good as a standalone fantasy story but an absolute letdown as the final of GoT. What also struck me was the absolute abandoning of continuity. E. g. in earlier seasons you can see Kings Landing surrounded by forest and altogether a hilly environment. In S8 however suddenly there's a large desolate field in front of the gates for an army to assemble. How convenient because that's exactly what was needed for that build-up scene of the battle for the city. Anyway, at leas the soundtrack was spot on again.
Tried the Full Windsor last night and it was fantastic! Instant Autumnal classic.
As always, fantastic recipes.

Looks like I'll be popping open a fresh bottle of sweet vermouth. Always love the EC originals!
This is terrific. nice work. Definitely working on a Full Windsor. Cheers!

Of course! I am always honored when someone puts a drink of mine on their menu 🙏
@@BartenderAtLarge thanks so much my man! I’m a huge fan of fall flavors and these all look tasty as all heck! I’ll let you know how it goes!

next challenge idea - can only make cocktails using liquor available in 50 ml (small) bottles and readily available grocery story purchased mixers.

If you had a $ for every time you've had to explain the full/empty bitters bottle! AMIRITE
EVERY. SINGLE. EPISODE. 🤣
