I'm crying tears of joy. I've had the iso of this game for years but it's been hard to play because I don't know Japanese. I am SO happy to find out this is real! This game was pretty much Budokai 2.5!
Thanks, Cui brother! I didn't add English VA at this time, as I wanted to mainly focus on text translation, also since there hasn't been an undub for the ps2 ver. I believe
@@the_phoenix_mirror i see. Keep it up man. Maybe i might make a Budokai 3 Honkai Star Rail mod in the future if i know the tools. And stay safe Cui! And no problem man!
I'm so glad this translation was complete, well done, I've been lurking on your videos during the last three months of university to see if it was finished. I followed your instructions perfectly and I'm having issues getting it to run on a ps3, and I'm assuming it has something to do with the hidden data, a type of security on the discs, unless it's 4.33GB of data, it just won't boot on the ps3 unfortunately, it's 937mb in size when a new ISO is created with the replacement translated file. Apparently it can be just a PS3 issue, it likely would boot up on a ps2, which I know longer have a working one. Unless it's a straight up ISO of the original disc it's doesn't boot. I read about this elsewhere, and a few games have this issue from back then, unless the game is the exact size it's meant to be, it just won't boot. A real bummer as I was really looking forward to this. If there was some way to keep the disc image the same size, roughly, and change the DATA_JP file, it would work perfectly. Also you should let Spike know about this, he runs a "popular website" and they host all kinds of translations for games, he might even be able to upload a full sized image of the game. On twitter or the website. Still though, props for this, it turned out beautifully, hopefully I'll be able to play it. Hopefully others can chime in on this as I was trying to get this to work all day to no avail, I'm not new to this, a veteran actually, have everything on my ps3 that I adore from yesteryear except a Japanese audio version of Budokai 2.
Hi, thank you for following the channel! I'm very sorry about this patch not working on your PS3, I wish I could help with increasing the ISO size to it's original size, but I wouldn't know how to increase it, unless I look into other types of compressions/additions. Hopefully someone else will be able to help with the PS3's check on it. I'll more then likely address Spike in the future about this release, so others will not need to build it themselves, maybe my luck, he's already aware by other people.
"make sure the data type is MODE1/2048, file system is ISO9660 + UDF, UDF revision 1.02 on the option menu" as suggested by @something707, allowed it to run on the ps3, thanks so much for taking the time and effort to do this patch, you could include that in your instructions for the game and it should work on a ps2 and ps3 and emulators with no issue, I should also add that it brings the game down to less than a gig in size and runs flawlessly@@the_phoenix_mirror
2.2V mod is an early model swap mod I did for 2V, where I brought in models from B1 and B3 into the game, like Cell form 1 and 2, Jeice, Burther, Kid Gohan, and more. I didn't name it 2.1V, since my original Budokai 2 mod was called 2.1
I've thought about it, but with Mediafire, I had a space limit, so that's why I only put in the bare amount to save space. I do plan to move to a new file sharing site soon though, so I should be able to use full ISOs with the new space
@@the_phoenix_mirror yes I did, also idk how comfortable you'd be on sending me a video on how on discord. I'd be willing to risk my channel to help anyone who would need it. with crediting you of course
@@SpicyWheatPepper I made mine in cdgen, it comes out as 940 192kb/918mb. The difference is that it's just trimming off any extra dummy data it doesn't need so it's fine what I did was extract the ISO, move data_jp.afs over the original in file explorer, drag the root directory of the files into cdgen, then save it as an iso. It doesn't work in PCSX2 for whatever reason but it works on the Play! Emulator and my actual PS2 via OPL
I left a comment of my own explaining what the problem might be, but i'm running into the same issue, even using a iso editor, I got the same problem, it ended up being exactly 1 mb bigger than image burn, but the same issue occured@@the_phoenix_mirror
It seemed I was able to help Spicywheat after some troubleshooting. The ISO does actually work on PCSX2, but it seems when selecting the way to burn it is very important for how it'll work on emulator. As for PS3 modding, which user-mk3 talked about, I'm not so sure on how I'd get that to work, since I'm not in the PS3 importing scene, if you wish for any help, feel free to contact me.
Well it seems I will have to replay Budokai 2 Storymode on Z difficulty. Thanks for the work! BTW, what´s the chance someday you make a mod to add more Stages? Maybe import Cooler model to the board?
I'd like to add more stages in the future, but right now, B2 hasn't been researched like B3 has, so it'd be a very difficult task at the moment to create new stages.
Good work! Glad to see it released! Probably a weird place to ask, but is it possible to have custom characters in the story mode boards? Like, say, playing as Teen Gohan at all? Even if just a pnach code, I'll take it.
2V compared to the PS2 US release has the following: - A new level in story. - Alt attires for battle damaged Goku, Piccolo with cape, Majin Cell, Majin Frieza, Cooler, and Kuriza. - Everything is unlocked - Some stages have a night version - World Tournament has the V-jump logo - Sparking capsules appear in the game
