I love how you explain everything, with practical examples. I am mexican and you have taught me so much about my mother tongue. Thank you for your time and effort in putting your lessons together.
Did I learn something? More in 30 minutes than in 2-years with apps and self studying. Absolutely cracking open my Spanish mind. I used to hear the conocerlo, or la conoces and thought, whelp that's it, never learning this language unless I'm exiled to a Spanish speaking country. You are such an excellent teacher, QP! I studied Spanish in high school for 3 years in Ontario Cda. Decades later, I am now fulfilling my life long dream to escape CDN winters (and figure out how to move to Mexico permanently. I'm in my first week in Costalegre, Jalisco, Mexico - here for 3 months this time! I began reviewing before I came here with your RUclips lessons in Cda and am finding them so valuable then and here, especially since now I am immersed in Spanish in a small town - so thankful most of the locals don't speak English! I really enjoyed your video sharing how you became fluent. You are such a natural teacher and story teller. I loved that you included that bit about the question your (I think) future father in law asked: "What do you think about how US govt benefits from poorer countries?" My landlords, quickly becoming friends, are helping me express political ideas I have about Cda on our daily walks. And, I will eventually watch more of your wife's and your videos about Mexico and renting, b/c I want to leave Canada and move here permanently. Thank you so much. It would be great if you set up a "tip jar" for ppl who don't want to subscribe/pay monthly, but want to thank you in a practical way for how much your natural, SO helpful lessonS benefit us.
Twenty years ago I was fluent in Spanish after spending 6 months as an au pair in Madrid. Fast forward 22 years and I'm determined to get back to where I once was as my husband and I are moving to Mexico in November. I just happened on your channel and I must say your method of teaching the language is so useful. With your videos I'm confident I'll be back to my 21 year old self in no time! Thank you so much!
This channel is a gold mine, thank you!!!!! I’ve been searching for a good one for a long time! I LOVE your lessons! They’ve helped me sooooo much and have given me a much needed boost in confidence.
I have been living in PlayaDel Carmen forabout 12 years now and my Spanish had plateaued about 8 years ago but you are helping me to learn so much Paul! Thank you for your efforts, as you are a great teacher!
Just reviewed this a second time. It takes me more than 1hour to go through this 30 minute video, take notes and test myself. I must say your videos are super helpful.
Today I saw a man holding a sweater and I heard somebody say something to him in Spanish and I realized that the person was saying, "You can put your sweater here." I had stopped watching your videos because I felt that it wasn't going to work because I can't practice any conversation with anybody, but when I realized I understood what that person said I decided to start watching the videos again. Thank you so much! What a great feeling!
That's awesome. Learning a language can be, and normally is, a frustrating process. It does not progress at a gradual pace, but rather it spurts, sputters and lurches forward when you least expect it. Thanks for taking the time to share yoyr experience. I know it will benefit others who read it and are exactly where you. Thanks for watching the channel.and for your kind words.
I really appreciated this lesson. Everything was clear and understandable. Definitely have to review a few times to get a bit more familiar especially with pronounciation. Gracias Paul! Great job!

Thanks so much Qroo! my wife and daughter are fluent in spanish and today i literally understood their conversation today while I was just listening. Anki + You = muy bueno!
The most helpful soanish teacher I know! I recommend you to anyone wanting to learn Spanish. So far I am understanding the content, but having troubles practicing/ not sure what the best method is to practice as I am not in environment where I can speak with other Spanish speaking people yet
This was great! I try to come back to your videos multiple times and find it always makes complete sense on a revisit. The DO stuff is actually quite beautiful, in my opinion.
Namaskar Paul. This is Debojyoti (you can shorten it to Deb). I'm from from Calcutta - India. I'm a student of Spanish, 1st Semester. It seems I'm touching gold in every lesson of yours. God bless you Paul. You are simply outstanding.
Thank you, Paul! I have been studying Spanish for a long time, time and these types of things have always tripped me up. I don't know this stuff in English and never understood "this is equal to" in Spanish. Somebody says infinitive or direct object, and my eyes glaze over. Thank you!
I'm learning Spanish now and this is the most helpful resource I've found. Thanks for making these and for re-starting the series recently. I stumbled upon your channel at the perfect time!
You know (¿Sabes?), with the majority of videos that I've watched I have to keep stopping and backtracking - but not with yours. The progression is seamless; fantastic!
Thank you so much! I’m a mixed breed and have never been able to pick up the language despite being around Spanish speaking friends all my life as they mostly spoke English around me. Strangers have always come up to me speaking Spanish. I never completely understand but I laugh with them anyway. Lol
Another great video Paul. I cant believe how much I was able to retain and to the exercises correctly. Your teaching style is is incredible and I am loving doing these lessons with you and cant wait for the next time I sit in your class. Thank you so very much Paul. Cant wait for the next lesson.
I stumbled across your videos a couple months ago and have been quite happy with how you go about teaching. I've been doing Babble for like two years and haven't learned nearly this much! Thank you for what you do to teach Spanish, you do it well!!!
I'm trying to learn to become conversational in Spanish and learned of your website from a Spanish professor at BYU in Provo, UT who recommended you highly. He is impressed with what you teach and how you teach in Cero to Conversational. I've referred you to others as well. I appreciate that you utilize the time effectively and efficiently and don't waste time with gimmicks.

One of my favourite Spanish quirks here. It may be a Guatemalan/Mexican thing but they'll ask: "Sabes a comer chili" rather than "Te gusta chili". Literally, "Do you know how to eat chili". It's brilliant and I love it.
I am back here paul, I have had 2 months of none stop work, no time for gym, spanish or myself. I am still trying and when I visit my girlfriend in Barcelona I love speaking what I know but still a long way to go. I got to lesson 8 but im re going over these lessons.
Thank you so much for these lessons! I do Duo and that has helped this total beginner (in her 50s!) but your lessons are so easy to follow along and my Spanish has improved greatly going through your lessons. ❤❤👍👍
This is a wonderful series. Your approach is different from others and suits my needs very well. I know a little Spanish but I'm rusty. This approach triggers my memory. Your explanations are very practical. They have cemented little grammar rules that I know but too often would forget. Also, from the first lesson, you taught us to compose more complex ideas not found in entry level Spanish. As an adult, those more complex ideas kept me from getting bored. Though, honestly, I have never had the opportunity to say "Do you want to cooperate" in either English, Spanish, or French. :)
Thank you for your excellent teaching! You have a wonderful gift! I always remember that "saber" is "to know about things" since it stems from "sapientia" & "sapiens" (Homo sapiens...the thinking/knowing man).
Your lessons are really excellent. I have been doing duolingo for 2 years and I know a lot of words now but I really appreciate the approach you have in showing patterns and structures, and it's helped me a lot.
Estimado Paul una vez un amigo (hace años atras) me dijo que lo mejor para El para aprender hablar Ingles fue cuando comenzo asistir a cursos de castellano para gente de habla Inglesa. Y yo ahora lo entiendo.
Hi Paul. These lessons are super useful. I cherish them a lot. I have reviewed this particular lesson thrice and each time I found something new: a new perspective. I really value the time you invest to help beginners like myself. I have struggled with learning this language over the years moreso since I lived in the only South American country, Guyana, whose language is predominantly English and I yearned to learn another language. I have often thrown in the towel but now with your recent compilation of lessons to assist beginners as well as your previous series of 34 lessons, I am able to retrieve the towel and continue on my language learning journey. I am glued to this new series of videos. Mil gracias por tu ayuda y espero que sigas continuar con estos videos. espero que sigas
I am glad to hear that you found the towel you threw down all those years before...lol. Thanks for taking the time to leave positive feedback about the course. When I hear from someone who finds value in the lessons, it gives me motivation to keep adding new lessons to the course.
Hi Prof. I have reviewed all five lessons again, not consecutively though. I have just completed review of lesson 5 in preparation for lesson 6 when it comes out and observed that in lesson 4 the greeting " En que le puedo servir" is the formal way of greeting someone in seeking to help that person with some kind of service. The 'le' in that expression is not a pronoun. I have seen this expression before but in reviewing lesson 5 on the use of the D.O the light bulb shone even brighter. Thanks Prof and I eagerly await lesson 6 while continuing to put at work the tools of your previous lessons in conjunction with the lessons on those brief sentence starters. Cabe mencionar que eres un profesor par excelente. A jugzar por tu experiencia estoy en buenas manos. Mil gracias por todas tu ayuda.
Hi, Paul I’m Mexican American. I decided to retire in Mexico. I thought, I was bilingual, I always spoke the Spanish spoken in USA. People soon either made fun of me and some correct me. As an example instead of haya como ojalá que encuentre algo. I used to say ojalá que AIGA instead ojalá que HAYA lo que busco. So your course has helped a lot. Thanks
I'm glad I could help. When I moved to Mexico back in 2015, I noticed there were some differences between the Mexican Spanish I was speaking in Florida and the Spanish spoken in Mexico. Shortly after moving, a manager of a beach bar commented that I spoke Spanish like a Mexican who went to the U.S. for several years and then came back. He said their Spanish changes. A lot of it had to do with vocabulary differences and slang that I considered Mexican but was really U.S./Mexican. I then tweaked my Spanish to better fit in in Mexico.
Paul, I am continuing to LOVE your videos ! ♥️. I truly enjoy watching them, and find them to be extremely helpful, and easy to understand. Thank you so very much. ♥️
This was a fun lesson! It took me a couple of weeks between the Saber part, and the Conocer part, because I learned all about the various verbs that require De or that take random prepositions, such as verbs of beginning and verbs of learning or teaching LOL. My notes! ack.
Paul, this is the best, easiest to remember, explanation of the DO placement. Not sure how many times I have studied this but now it will stick! Thanks
Thanks for some great lessons. Would you consider making one about when the spanish run two or mor words so they sound as if they are one long word. I couldn’t say this in spanish. When broken down I can usually understand them but in a conversation, no. Thanks for all the great lessons.
Thanks a lot for your lessons on different topics. I bet most if not all English speakers prefer to stick the direct object at the end, rather than before the infinitive, as it does not mess up the word order in English word by word translation. One thing I will have to get use to though use a "th sound" when there is a "z", or a c before "i" or "e" rather than use an s sound, because I am sticking to Spain's Spanish pronunciation.
Amazing videos so far, I started learning around a month ago with Duolingo, then ditched it once I felt I had the basics after dos semanas, you would think that I would need to skip your basic videos, but i decided to watch them still, and they are basically soildifying what I know and clearing up some of the concepts that didn't quite stick with me, for example, using que after tengo, tienes..etc now it's automatic for me. muchas gracias por tu trajabo! Tengo que continuar con tus videos
these classes are really save me from Spanish learning ❤, now I am your big funs and introduce this channel to my friends who are fighting with Spanish too😅
Paul, looking at this video series i wonder why i have struggled so long and so much trying to learn Spanish. The answer is it's you that makes it easy, until the day when it's not. Thanks
Thanks for the positive feedback, John. Creating these lessons is quiet time-consuming, but I know it is worth it when I hear from people like you who are benefitting from them. You made my day. My method of teaching Spanish is the result of my own journey to learn it on my own for work. I had to become conversational as quickly as possible. I struggled like you did, at first, but then I started noticing patterns in the language and that changed everything. I started popping a few phrases in my head in different ways and this allowed me to have conversations in real time. This course is simply the fine-tuned version of all that I have learned.
I was already quite familiar with everything in this jam-packed lesson and enjoyed reviewing it!😊 There’s always time for reviewing just to keep things fresh and your videos are such a joy. I replay them, in fact while I wait for a notification that a new arrival (a special gift) is waiting to be opened l
I know you spend a great deal of time and effort making these lessons. I thought the very least I could do was give you a thumps up👍 and a thank you. Hasta la proxima
Thanks Paul. I love your teaching style. After four years of trying different methods, yours seems to be the best for me. I'm reviewing the Cero to Conversational lessons to get ready for your new ones. (I did the animated series and liked it, too.) Gracias!

My personal top tip in learning a language... try to forget you speak English.
Don't compare one with the other...or you'll bang your head against things like "A mi, me gusta ...".
Don't learn translations, learn Synonyms. So, don't learn "Vaso" as a translation of "Glass". Look at a glass and have two names for it.
When you talk....shoot from the hip. Take chances. Go with what feels right and correct. That gut instinct will become more accurate.
And why all this? Well, basically it's how infants learn to talk. We ALL have that mechanism. It's just a case of tapping it.
p.s. Read kids books and watch cartoons in Spanish (without subtitles). Takes a moment to get over the adult ego part, but it works.

I am glued to this new series of videos. Mil gracias por tu ayuda y espero que sigas continuar con estos videos.
espero que sigas
Typo the last three words should be ignored.
*toda tu ayuda.
So very well explained. Thank you so much for making this so simple to understand. Much appreciated.
Glad it was helpful!
Thank you Paul, I've learnt more in your five lessons than several weeks of duolingo!
That's great!
Thanks Qroo, love the way you explain, simple and effective, even for a French speaking person. 👍
I'm glad that you liked it. Take care.
Awaiting Lesson 6 and others in the series with excited anticipation Paul.
It will be out this week. :)
The explanation of where to put the lo... Prior to a conjugated verb are the low after the infinitive verb!! Game changer!!
I'm glad it was helpful!
You are an amazing teacher. It is so easy to understand the concepts when you explain them.
Thank you!
I like your pace and delivery. I feel like to are speaking to me directly.
These are awesome. Please keep the lessons coming!!
I'm glad you like it. I am working on #6 as we speak.
the more I watch you the better it is for me
excelente…..gracias
Paul, I am continuing to LOVE your videos ! ♥️. I truly enjoy watching them, and find them to be extremely helpful, and easy to understand. Thank you so very much. ♥️
Thanks! I'm happy to hear that. :)
This was a fun lesson! It took me a couple of weeks between the Saber part, and the Conocer part, because I learned all about the various verbs that require De or that take random prepositions, such as verbs of beginning and verbs of learning or teaching LOL. My notes! ack.
Reviewed # 4 and listened and wrote out # 5 tonight. Thank you, Paul, your teaching method is very smart and very empowering. 😅
Thank you, Ingrid. I appreciate that.
I like adding the DO to the end, makes it closer to English reading
Paul, this is the best, easiest to remember, explanation of the DO placement. Not sure how many times I have studied this but now it will stick! Thanks
That's great to hear!
Thanks!
Terrific lesson Paul. Loved the longer length and clear explanations.
Thanks for the positive feedback. Take care.
De acuerdo.
these classes are really save me from Spanish learning ❤, now I am your big funs and introduce this channel to my friends who are fighting with Spanish too😅
Paul, looking at this video series i wonder why i have struggled so long and so much trying to learn Spanish.
Thank you so much for the kind words. You made my day.

Thanks Paul. I love your teaching style. After four years of trying different methods, yours seems to be the best for me. I'm reviewing the Cero to Conversational lessons to get ready for your new ones. (I did the animated series and liked it, too.) Gracias!
