- Sir Keir Starmer appeared to take a dig at the previous Conservative government as he told reporters: "Self-interest is yesterday's politics."
In his first press conference as prime minister, the Labour leader said he and his now-Cabinet had been spending the past six months preparing to lead the country so they were ready to "hit the ground running".

Doesn’t say how he will tackle immigration, doesn’t say how he will get the money to restructure the NHS, doesn’t say how he will build more prison. All he does is say “Work Needs to Be Done” while he spent the last two years criticising the Tories for their lack of action. Truly a Hypocrite.

If I hear the phrase 'hit the ground running' I am going to scream. Is there anyone...ANYONE...capable of finishing a sentence without using the most shop-worn cliches. It says a lot about the intellects of our media and elite classes that they are so unoriginal in the way they speak. We should all be rereading Orwell right now, if not for his understanding of sloganeering.
