someone said it before but if they expanded it over 2 or 3 days (and kept the same number of bands) this festival has a lot of potential. having all this on one day is insane.

FWIW I didn't go to this year's SNW but I did go to SNW 2023, and I will attest, I did have a really fun time, but what Wyatt is saying is definitely true. It needs to be a multi-day event, the bands that play it hopefully would be willing to play a set multiple times, if they just staggered the schedule a little bit it would solve ALL the problems. I guess I just got lucky last year because I've always been a huge fan of the bands that played Spiral Stage last year and, being able to see The Birthday Massacre, Lacuna Coil, Orgy, Cold, Stabbing Westward, and MINISTRY all in one go was AWESOME, but it could've been better. Still wanted to see Kittie, KMFDM, and HEALTH also. Plus when Evanescence went I had a bit of a time getting to the main stage that, Amy was already 1/3 done with her set its like "Oh what the hell...". They DO need more merch vendors too, at least like double what they had in 23'

There are some REALLY affordable festivals in the US but they don’t spend millions on advertising, thus they don’t have to pass those expenses along to the consumer via higher ticket prices.
I have gone to the same 4-day festival for years. $450 includes VIP, free food, free drinks (including alcohol), campsite, and hardly any overlapping sets. Even the food and drink prices there are super reasonable…like $4 per beer. Plus free showers, free water, tons of free meet & greet opportunities and other stuff. Screw these big corporate festivals

I actually worked SNW On the main stage as an audio tech. You didn't miss out with Lorna Shore, trust me. Wind was so high we had to drop the PA. And most (6 out of 9 on main stage) had thier own sound guy. All we did was make sure they didn't go over the dB limit. as winds change so does the sound. We added an extra set of delays this year so thats why it sounded sooo good even when you were that far out

I used to gatekeep bands a lot and dismissed them as "pop". Did exactly the same with Bring me the Horizon for years. Late last year one of my friends who I didn't know liked heavier music showed me some of their songs and I immediately was like "wait this isn't pop, this is heavy as hell". Since then I've realised that saying certain bands "aren't real metal" or "are pop garbage" is a very limiting mindset. Who cares if it has a slightly pop inspired sound? It's fun. It's good. Worst of all, gatekeeping metal stops newer fans from gaining interest in the genre. I want to share the whole metal experience with my friends, not just sweaty festival-goers. It's fine if you don't like BMTH. You have the right to an opinion, but Bring me might be the pipeline to more people enjoying bands that you like. For a new fan moshing to Diamonds aren't forever might be what gets them into Knocked loose. I really like your channel and videos but it's a bit exhausting to keep seeing the same old gatekeeping mindset that so many metalheads share. Aren't festivals just a place to have some fun with people who have a similar music taste? Anyways, I was at the festival and I loved it. Last 3 bands on the main stages absolutely killed it. Great video!

Wyatt's review of last years Sick New World prepared me for disappointment, but when I saw the lineup for SNW 2024, I couldn't pass up the opportunity to see some of my favorite bands. This year was improved upon in just about every way. We lined up 1 hour before gates opened (they also opened 20 minutes early, and took us nearly no time to get in), quickly filled up on water, got our lockers, and stood in the band merch line. Missed Spiritbox and Lorna Shore while waiting for merch which kinda sucked. The Red Stage side of the two main stages was nowhere near as crowded as the Gold Stage, and I was shocked at how un-crowded it was compared to the Gold side. Stood at the barrier between Red Stage and Red Stage VIP area for most of the festival with a water backpack, lots of sunscreen, and a big hat. Everything was phenomenal. Slipknot's sound mixing was muddy at times, but other than a few scheduling conflicts like System of a Down and Sleep Token being at the same time, the festival was fantastic.
PS: Bring Me the Horizon's set was amazing too. They might not be "metal" but man, do they bring the energy. Seeing them play Kingslayer with Babymetal was one of my favorite performances of the day.

Your video about SNW last year helped me navigate the front gate and saved me at least an hour. There was a huuuuuge line that I skipped and went to the very front. Only waited about 25-30 minutes before I was inside. I, too, was blown away on how good the stages sounded and how quickly they moved from one band to the other. Everyone was on schedule for the most part. Saw 6arely Legal, a little of Paleface Swiss, a little Lorna Shore, I've Nine Kills, Baby Metal (big meh to me), Trash Talk (amazing!), Superheaven, Slaughter to Prevail, a little A Perfect Circle, Alice in Chains, Danny Elfman (agreed, Amazing!), BMTH (Agreed, pop metal garbage), Slipknot, Some System and Sleep Token. While waiting for Sleep Token, we waited at the merch line and was able to score some shirts in about 20-25 mins, which was the right time since the lines were RIDICULOUS the entire time.
Overall, great show. My feet hated me, though, especially after the show when I had to walk to the Palace Station.

I went to SNW and had a blast. Biggest cons were doors opening 23 minutes before the first band went on. That is way too early. I arrived in the lines a couple hours early so I got in quick and went straight to artist merch. 1 fucking hour right when doors opened. I missed Nonpoint and Kittie which I wanted to see so I was frustrated at that. By the time I got out of the merch line it was so long I couldn't even tell you where it started. I saw 14 bands in full and a little bit of the sets from 2 others. I spent about 60% of my time at the main stages, 35% at the spiral stage, and the rest at diablo. Sound was good for the most part, especially for Jinjer. One of the best mixes I've heard. I got to see a lot of bands I love and seen like Slipknot (which it wasn't just you the mix was pretty muddy for me a few times but it was good majority of the time) Babymetal, and Lorna Shore, while hearing bands I've heard of but haven't checked the music out for like Slaughter to Prevail, and Spiritbox. And the crowds were packed, by the time Babymetal came on people were crushing up front, I was close and after their set ended half the people close to the red stage left but we had to slither our way 1 by 1 out because of how dense it was and nobody wanted to let us move. I had to do something similar to get into a good place for Slipknot and SOAD since I wanted to mosh. Overall apart from the beginning merch line issue, I had a super fun time and would definitely go again if the opportunity arised.
Edit: While not the biggest BMTH fan I love Babymetal so them bringing them out for Kingslayer was a huge highlight for me.

My family opted for VIP this year which was extremely expensive but i would say was worth it for red and gold stage. The vip sections were a lot bigger than last year so we were able to get a decent spot for slipknot and soad without having to stand in the same spot for hours, and the exclusive bathrooms definitely were helpful after my stomach started gymnastics once i ate some of the festival food. But the Siren stage and Spiral stage vip were the same section with only one entrance and made it very difficult to get out of, i noticed a lot of people who tried to migrate to the other side of the section to see the band at the next stage, but got stopped by the crowd, and missed it. They probably paid a lot of money so they would be able to see more bands without having to run against the 2 minutes in between each set, so to see this was a bit upsetting.
You were right about sick new leg day, knowing the amount of money we spent on this, we tried to see as many bands as possible to get our moneys worth, and ended up seeing 15 bands within the 14 hours we were there. I woke up the next morning with some sick new excruciating leg pain!

I was there and had a great time. Main stage was too crowded so we went to the 3 other stages and got to see a bunch of great bands. I did miss some I wanted to see due to conflicts, but that’s what happens with a 1 day festival. Also the artist merch line was 2 hours long at 11 am so don’t even think about getting anything

I went this year and there was so many issues....Not enough merch, merch lines were too long, not enough sun shade, the VIP isn't really a VIP type of situation as it still feels like general admission on the left side of one of the stages, tons of rude security workers, grumpy people all over the place, too many bands on the ticket and my phone had full bars but no service. Couldnt get ahold of others at the festival. it was just a shit show. I don't think i'll ever go back.

Bring me the horizon kept making all these comments about mosh pits and having more and having bigger. I was just thinking, if you have ask for it that much maybe you should start playing music to mosh to. Lamb of God didn’t have to beg for a mosh pit, they did ask for the biggest circle of the festival, but that is more encouraging teamwork between the already going pits

I was in the crowd for BMTH and lamb of God. Lamb crowd had more space and was earlier in the day so no one was exhausted. BMTH was Jam packed and it was getting hard to breathe. Crowd started surging and was about to had a crowd colapse. It was getting scary so we left. I later found out that production shut down the set due to the high risk that the crowd was in.

I saw them at knotfest LA 2021 and the crowd was insanity, I had my redemption seeing them with FOB in the summer last year but they always have pits but definitely people push too much and it can cause crowd crush. I got super worried when the show stopped bc I had lost my bf and was worried he was in the GA crowd (we had VIP but he would go into GA for the pits) stuck in the crowd crush, thankfully he wasn’t

I went the last two years, and if you prepare well then you can avoid a lot of issues. Like they sell merch in the morning and the day before, I bought my merch then so I didn’t have to buy it in the venue. Bringing power banks, wearing comfy shoes, sunscreen etc. in the line going in, you could literally walk around everyone because the line was for getting an alcohol wristband which they also were giving out inside.

I work in concert production and how they crammed that many bands into one day back to back is actually insane considering how high the production value was by the looks of it. In reality they need to make this a 2 or 3 day festival and incorporate club shows later in the evening like Punk Rock Bowling does every year. That would put this festival in a different league and provide a better experience in my opinion.

So when we got there we went into the pit with the wheelchair and for the first two bands there was no problem. But then Lamb of God came on and it got extremely crowded where Hannah was sitting in a sea of people. By the second song multiple mosh pits had formed around us. Luckily people saw the situation and formed a human mote around Hannah. It was a 3 layered person wall that still made the chair rock back and forth. People were yelling at other people that there is a girl with a wheelchair over here but that didn't stop the intensity. Hannah held on tight and stayed strong. I was more worried for her than she was. The cherry on the cake was when 10 people and I had to throw some crowd surfing a-hole to the side because he was about to fall into the Hannah Dip Zone. We got out safely but we did run over some toes. I've had my heart attack for the year! It was still a very good festival and we got to see 12 bands in total which was awesome!! Thank You to all who helped and had kindness in their hearts when they saw a wheelchair! Rock on 🤘

bring me the horizon are a weird band for me. loved their earlier stuff up until serp. its going away from its metal genre which i can agree on. some songs are okay from new stuff and they dont really belong in any pop show. its popmetal imo and olny is used to hanging in the deathcore scene so i assume thats why he wants more pits etc. its not uncommon for a artist to ask for this tho. saw it at architec, vomit fort and bmht.
i understand how alot of elitist would hate it tbh. im kinda in the middle. its alt music like ghost, sleep etc.

The lineup and schedule was almost perfect for me and I got almost everything I wanted, except Spiritbox because it took so damn long to get into the fest. My biggest complaint is what in the world was Knocked Loose doing on the Spiral Stage when they should've played after Vein and Kublai Khan on the Diablo stage.

I went there with two of my friends. One is a huge SOAD fan and the other is a major Slipknot fan. I'm not too big on either.
My taste in metal is definitely more hardcore and old school than my friends.
waited in the merch line for three f-ing hours. While waiting in line I saw paleface Swiss playing. Not a huge fan of modern beatdown, (but I mean, sometimes you just get pissed off and beatdown is probably the angriest genre of music out there). I had to hand a friend my money to buy me a shirt cause I didn't want to miss primus.
    The bands that I saw.
    1. slaughter to prevail
Was great, really wholesome (also good mosh pits)
    2. primus
I just love how weird primus is, and wynonas big brown beaver is always great
    3. Alice In Chains
Actually a damn shame. Started late and ended early. My dad is a huge Alice In Chains fan, so I had always heard their songs during car rides and around the house.
    4. Danny elfman
Really bizarre, but I mean I do like psychedelic stuff so it was pretty cool.
    5. BMTH
Like I said, my taste is definitely more old school, so I personally don't really get it.
    6. Slipknot
A gateway drug. I'm already deeper into the metal scene, so I don't really listen to them
    7. SOAD
Really banged my head to this one. I'm not a huge fan, but I enjoy it.
Other bands I wanted to see, like knocked loose and core orange, I wasn't able to see because I had to stay with my group. Cause this place is so damn crowded that getting lost is a real problem.
All in all I'm glad I experienced it, but I would've rather gone to 70000 tons of metal. (Lich king was their and I f-ing missed it)

As a TRUE Chainhead, I refuse & will always refuse to see AIC live without Layne, for NOT AIC without him. I've seen every band that played at SNW that I bang🤘to already, & most circa 2007 + full shows, so this metalhead is grateful I didn't go, just to blow a shit ton of $ I dont really have. But, I will definitely be at Layne's memorial this year, & already got tickets (now sold out) & flights booked, which I chose over this or any other summer spending this year (havent been since 2012, was also at the 1st 2002, & in 2009). I enjoyed it this year a lot. I didn’t go last year, but everything I heard about it was bad. I was prepared for disappointment this year if anything. Holy shit I had a blast this year. The worst things about this festival was the short set times and overlapping bands. The only sound problems I witnessed was Slaughter To Prevail when they were playing Viking and their entire sound cut off. Wasn’t there to see them, just happened when I was chilling near there. Second was Slipknot. I was far at the gold stage so i knew the sound wouldn’t be that great, but it was so noticeable of the low audio I had the best moments at Diablo Stage, where my favorites were Sunami, Fleshwater, and Loathe which were all back to back. I’m 100% going again next year !!

they, as in the festival, need more days so that band clashes aren't making people annoyed, covered stages/tents, a larger merch booth that sells power banks which tbh most people carry at festivals these days, and some interesting cool water activations/things that people can do when they are waiting for a band they really want to watch. But, they are on the right track.

Great review. Some of the Festivals have absolutely become a cash grab. In the end, there winds up being one happy group while the rest have to weigh out the pros and cons to decipher if the hefty ticket price delivered an event worthy of the robbery. Sadly, Ive reached an age that Festivals are no longer in my list of things to do. I wont put myself through the nonsense like this anymore. Well... not true.... But, it'd take a miracle. Ive done so many of these festivals in my half century on this planet that I am ok with not ever needing to do another. However, twenty years ago I wouldve done horrible things to countless people to go to this show.

You walked right in front of me and I somehow didn't notice a guy walking around with a camera. That's funny. The few things that upset about this year were while waiting to get in, I completely missed Wednesday 13's set... was very excited to see him... then I had to cut Slaughter to Prevail short just to see A perfect circle.... that really sucked. But I got to see babymetal... so everything is OK... also being at both years, this year was miles better as far as stage times and sound equipment goes. Even tho I agree, it felt that most bands were rushed in set lists. I had fun at both years, regardless.
