    Just in general no matter the size shotgun homes are difficult to build

    shotgun homes also have the doors in the same spot all the way through that's how they got there name, you can shoot a gun from the front porch all the way through to the back door without hitting anything and it was for circulation

      @@sahm_and_bean Another cool challange would be getting a friend to make an old and falling apart home like those old victorian houses. Then setting a budget and refurbishing the house. No deleting or adding walls. Just floor, furniture, paint, ect. As if someone bought a really old home and touched it up.

I don't remember, it's been a while since I've checked, but I'd actually like to do a new one on a live stream if and when I can actually get a good time and place to live stream. So now you're the first to know 🤫😉

  • @sabrinaheizenrader5635
    @sabrinaheizenrader5635 Год назад +2

    I have learned that as long as one wall piece is missing, that room won’t count towards the tiles. I made a farm in Henford-on-Bagley and wanted the gardening perk of the smallest micro home. So the actual home is one level up. The area below that has walls on three sides. One end is separated with a wall for crafting tables and laundry but instead of a door there’s just no wall for one tile. On the other side there’s a store (world with a mod) that’s only closed in on three sides so none of that area counts as a tile.

    • @sahm_and_bean
      @sahm_and_bean  Год назад +1

      That is a super handy trick if you need space and want to keep the perks. I prefer to not cheat for these homes but it's definitely a good trick to have in your tool belt. Sounds like you made a pretty cool farm though.

    That house looks so beautiful!!! Is this really all base game? 😳 The builders I’ve seen on RUclips always use other packs (which means I can’t use their houses-) and I thought that meant I could never build a good house with base game 🥺

      Trailer homes are different than shot guns. Similar look but not the same thing. Shotgun is pretty much like a Katrina cottage if you know what that is. Trailer homes can be in similar layout to shotguns but don’t have to be. I lived in one that wasn’t.

      @@wtfamisupposedtodowiththis7123 trailers are totally different, they're mobile homes made of metal/vinyl which can be moved easily and generally don't have permanent foundations. They also have a lot of different styles of layouts for trailers. Shotgun homes are regular built homes from brick and mortar or wood that aren't mobile and do have a fixed foundation like a regular home. The specific shape and layout is what makes them shotgun homes.

    When I was house hunting my realtor took my mon and I to a shotgun house. It was the living room, bedroom, kitchen and then bathroom. We were standing in the kitchen and my mom was like "wait...where is the bedroom?" I'm just like "...we walked through it". Yeah I didn't buy it. We actually had to be warned that it was once a "lab" by law. Which made so much sense when I saw the layout. It was so undesirable that it only made sense that whoever "lived" there...didn't actually live there and it was going to be used for illegal purposes.

    • @sahm_and_bean

    I’m born and raised in New Orleans where shotgun houses originated (so we’re told). I have been in a few different floor plans. Every one I’ve been in has always had the kitchen in the back of the house with a back door that leads to the backyard. Also one of the floor plans I’ve seen is with a very long hallway that had all of the rooms on the opposite side. But usually you’d have to walk through multiple rooms in order to get into the kitchen or bathroom.

    • @sahm_and_bean
      @sahm_and_bean  Год назад +1

      That is the general layout for a shotgun. Unfortunately I did have to tweak this one significantly because I only had 32 tiles, but the traditional layout is a small sort of family room in the front, kitchen in the back, and many homes are so old that the bathroom is just sort of added on later either in the main rectangle of the build or possibly as an extension at the back. But you're right, the floor plan on mine is a little bit wonky. I do have a more historically accurate one as a "full size full-length" video on the channel as well, but this one was just for fun.

      I used some wooden floor and the concrete slabs (under stone) in this build. Good floor hacks to know are < and > rotate the direction, and Ctrl+f will let you place quarter tiles. If that doesn't answer your question I'm afraid I'm not sure what you're asking 🙈

  • @EB_EAH

    A shotgun house is a house that goes straight through. And yes it can be an open floor plan. To the front door and a back door

    • @sahm_and_bean
      @sahm_and_bean  Год назад +1

      While newer (or recently renovated) shotgun style homes may be open floor plan, the originals actually didn't even have a hall but instead were door after door after door all along one side (like this one). I wasn't able to do a genuine shotgun floor plan in this build because it is only 32 tiles, but if you're interested in more of the history of the shotgun, including how the floor plan has changed, I recommend checking out my 'full size full length' video here on the channel :)

      Hi! Once you're online in the gallery, you can search by creator ID using the drop-down menu at the top of the page. My ID is sahmandbean. You can also search by lot name on the main gallery page or on a creator's own gallery page. The lot title for this build is Micro Shotgun. Don't forget to follow creators you like to make sure you can find them again! Once you've found the build you want, you can favorite it, add it to your library (an offline collection), and/or place it on a lot. Does that help? Idk how much of an explanation you needed but I figure too much is better than being too cryptic 🙈
