I just LOVE how they always look at other performers playing extremely difficult pieces and both act like it’s something there not capable of doing untill they do it like, 5 seconds later.
They don't play them nearly as cleanly and flawlessly as the performers they are featuring, at least in this particular case. I haven't seen a lot of their videos so I don't know what's typical or what their true level of skill is. In the videos I've seen they seem like well educated musicians, but generally don't appear to be on the level of the world's best violinists.
Conscious Robot they're incredibly highly skilled, if you've seen enough of their videos by now, and are very self deprecating. not prodigy level but for sight reading, very very impressive. you should watch their paganini caprice sight reading vids...nearly 3 hours of hilarious torture! but for actual skill, if you havent seen yet, the battle conceto, jingle bells paganini and their levels of violin playing

One Of the funniest thing is when Brett demonstrates the down up vs down down down up, you can see that he actually can do the bowing (maybe not as clear as sumina, but still bro, it's sightreading) and suddenly messes up, I dunno if this is intentional or not to make them looked like a noob or to stay in the character, ngl I was shocked

It's her open E string that got caught ringing. You really can't stop or predict it, cuz it's not her technique or playing. They sell crazy expensive strings that minimise it to the best of its capabilities (gold plated etc) but nothing can 100% prevent it
let's appreciate the fact that Brett is that friends who laughs at you while you're struggling but then he helps you giving you tips on how he would do it. In this video Eddy was trying to do the bowing (like the flap bird move as Brett would say) and was a bit stiff so he helped him. I love this friendship
I appreciate that these two talented musicians don't take themselves and the music so seriously that they can have fun in a self deprecating manner. I always enjoy their videos and somehow find them an encouragement to keep practicing.

No offense, but that video has been sped up very noticeably. She's great, but I would have been more impressed with an honest playback at the correct speed than an attempt to impress by speeding it up without making any mention of it.

@@ivan_says_hi I'm a bit iffy on whether it's a bit sped up as well- all her movements are, for lack of a better word, too staccato. Not just the violin-playing parts, but all of it. However, her hair doesn't seem to be falling too weirdly and that's the only definitive way I can think of absolutely proving that the footage is sped up, she could just move like that when she plays.

Down-Down-Down-Up is a gypsy violin style and Paganini travelled a lot. I heard he absorbed their style travelling and playing with them and used it as it was completely out of vogue.

Brilliant presenters making intelligent content with perfect comedy timing, both in person and with the editing.
The fast violin-playing is very impressive and would be amazing to see in concert. But I don't think it's as melodically pleasing as something more dynamic, with variations of slow and fast, and with more feeling. I may be "mainstream," but I still think Schindler's List theme is the most beautiful piece played on violin.
