I still remember the day I first saw a Gameboy. My friend was playing Super Mario Land in December, 1989. I thought it was the most amazing thing. A year later I got one of my own with 3 games: Tetris, Castlevania Adventure and Paperboy. Classics!
i was in a hospital for 2 weeks when the game boy came out. it really made my time easier there. i remember also playing trough super mario land together with my bed neighbour
Andrew Whalen If you're 21 now you were most def not a teenager when Pokémon came out... you were more like 7, did you really smoke & chase girls at that age?

After number 2 I wondered what could be number 1. even stopped the video for a minute, but couldn't figure it out. I started the video again, thinking that it will probably totally worth the number one spot. It was!
My first handheld console was the Gameboy colour. And the first game I got was Pokemon Crystal. I will never forget the countless hours of fun I spent on it.
The ONLY Game Boy games I can get used to are Mega Man V, Donkey Kong Land 3, Super Mario Land, Final Fantasy Adventure, Kirby's Dream Land, The Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening, Tetris, Wario Land: Super Mario Land 3, and Pokemon Red and Blue. They're one of the Best Nintendo Childhood Gaming Memories I've ever played! I'll NEVER forget those games. They are THE Best in the world!
10:Kirby's Dream Land 9:Operation C 8:Megaman V 7:Metroid 6: Return Of Samus 5: DuckTales 4: Super Mario Land 3: Contra 2: Pokemon Red&Blue 1: Legend Of Zelda.
I am SOO happy that you put Pokemon Red/Blue as No. 1 on the list!!! My brother has a Gameboy Colour and a copy of Pokemon Blue, and he lets me use it whenever I want!!! I LOVE that game, even though I'm only at Lavender Town so far. Be warned.... Lavender Town is no joke. The ghosts that posses the Pokemon Tower will be found... and they might just find you.
10.) Final Fantasy Adventure 9.) Operation C 8.) TMNT: Fall Of The Foot Clan 7.) Tetris 6.) Super Mario Land 5.) Pokemon Red 4.) The Legend Of Zelda: Links Awakening 3.) Super MarioLand 2 2.) Ninja Gaiden: Shadow 1.) Final Fantasy Legend 1,2,3
I've played Pokemon Red, Blue, Yellow, Silver, and Gold, as well as Pokemon TCG, WWF (WWE) Superstars 1, Tetris, Super Mario Land 1 & 2, Marble Madness, and a few others on the old Game Boy.
Ohhhh, so many great GameBoy titles, so little battery life.... what's that? I can just play them on my rechargable GBA SP? But then I don't get to play in monochrome :/ no thanks. And yes, I still buy used GameBoy games to this day^_^ I just LOVE the little fella!!
My list 10) Kirby’s Dream Land 2 9) Metroid 2: Return of Samus 8) Super Mario Land 7) Kirby’s Dream Land 6) Wario Land: Super Mario Land 3 5) Donkey Kong 4) Super Mario Land 2: 6 Golden Coins 3) Tetris 2) Pokemon Red & Blue 1) The Legend of Zelda: Link’s Awakening
Barbie Game Girl was my least playable Game Boy game because it had Barbie in a cheesy platformer, dodging obstacles that get in her way, during her romantic dream date Don't forget The Little Mermaid, Bart Simpson's Escape from Camp Deadly, Disney's Darkwing Duck, Disney's Mulan (playable on Super Game Boy for the Super NES), The New Adventures of Mary-Kate & Ashley (compatible with the Super Game Boy for the Super NES) and Disney's DuckTales
My list: 1. Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening 2. Super Mario Land 2: 6 Golden Coins 3. Donkey Kong 4. Wario Land: Super Mario Land 3 5. Pokemon Red/Blue/Yellow 6. Tetris 7. Castlevania 2: Belmont's Revenge 8. Kid Icarus: Of Myths and Monsters 9. Metroid 2: Return of Samus 10. Wario Land 2
Yes! I agreed on you're list. I'm the only guys have a pokemon red, too bad I don't have it no longer. I'm happy still have my game boy advance handheld works.
If Pokemon Red and Pokemon Blue is at the top of your list you should at least of mentioned that they where the international version of the 2 original Pokemon games Pokemon Red and Pokemon Green. Yes they where made for Japan only but if it wasn't for the success of The Japanese originals, there would never of been the International release and the series of games to follow, that we love today.
Although Red and Blue were the games that were distributed world wide and made the franchise popular, you are right, but let's also mention that Red and Blue were not only remade for USA and Europe but also for Japan, because Red and Green had some graphical issues that needed to be fixed, like awful sprites and stuff.
Man I can't really remember what games I had for the Gameboy but man Pokémon was definitly up there I also remember I had Jurassic Park for it and some Ren and Stempy game those were my games back in the day and loved em lol
I'm gonna have to disagree with you when you said "The first four Mega Man Gameboy games were watered-down ports of the NES originals." That may apply to the first two, but I find Mega Man 3 and 4 on GB to actually be significantly improved in certain areas, such as re-balanced boss battles, enhanced graphical detail, and bug fixes. (MM3's Gemini Laser actually works now)
I think they didn't say Yellow for 2 reasons. 1: Red/Blue were the more popular and more known of the two. 2: It's basically the same thing as Red/Blue.
Are these lists based on top selling games? Just curious, since I find your lists always seem to include a couple games I wouldn't even put in my top 50. I'd switch Robopon with any of the games from 2-10 of this list (although Pokemon IS the best game for the gameboy both for number of copies sold as well as having original & diverse gameplay elements for its time; I'm glad you gave it the number 1 spot).
Imo Gargoyal's Quest is still one of the hardest games ever created. I can't get anywhere in it now. How'd I beat it as a kid, wtf?! Link's Awakening is AMAZING. And I wish Metroid 2 would get a 3ds release with a map on the bottom half. :( Love that game!
It was the worst Mario game for sure. I kinda hated it everytime I played it but I kept playing cuz it was that or Tetris and I played a lot of Tetris too XD
My top 10. 1. Zelda links awakening 2. TMNT fall of the footclan 3. Pokemon Red/Blue 4. WWF superstars 5. Super Mario land 6. Robocop 7. Bubble Bobble 8. Kirbys dream land 9. Bubble ghost 10. Power rangers
10. Gargoyle's Quest (same) 9. Kirby's Dream Land 2 8. Super Mario Land 2 7. Wario Land: Super Mario Land 3 (same) 6. Final Fantasy Adventure (same) 5. Metroid II: The Return of Samus (same) 4. Tetris (same) 3. The Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening (same) 2. Donkey Kong (same) 1. Kirby's Dream Land (same) Honorable Mentions Pokemon Red/Blue (same) Castlevania Legends Castlevania Adventure II: Belmont's Revenge Donkey Kong Land 3 (same) Super Mario Land (same) Castlevania Adventure Pokemon Yellow
I remember first getting pokemon as a gift. I played non stop i loved that game and still do. The other ones are fun to like gold silver and ruby etc. You know
Santiago Pescador Guglielmone Well, I said that because that's the console where I used to play it, but you're right, it was for GB. My dad had a NES too, we used to play when I was 2-4 years old... good old days!
Can't argue with #1. But where is Kid Icarus!!! Also Kirby's Pinball is possibly the most underrated game of all time, the hours I spent beating records, trading it to a friend, only to try and beat their record was outrageous. Also Warioland >> Super Mario GB
Metroid II apparently gets a lot of flag for being the supposed black sheep in the Metroid series.... well I liked it, and I liked it so much in fact that it sparked my interest for the franchise in general and made me a fan :-) Also, imagine my sigh of relief when Pokémon got the 1st spot, I got freakin' nervous the closer they got to No.1, and while monster collecting games may not be everyone's cup 'o tea, no one can deny what a huge impact and success it was for the GameBoy. I still to this day play Pokémon Red before Silver and Gold, and I even play it over its remake, LeafGreen.
So I was looking through my brothers closet (which my family uses like a storage closet) and I found a GameBoy! (My dads old one) I also found Super Mario Land, Tetris and golf. Before I found it I always wanted one. So I got lucky I didn’t have to buy one or use a emulator! :)
should have been like 10 spot is Pokemon because of the colors. number 9 spot Kirby's dream land cuz it's hard to control.8th spot grand theft auto (gameboy colors) because the graphics aren't that good but number 1 spot should have been neither Tetris or Tony Hawks skateboarding.
Personal Top 15 Greatest: #1 The Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening #2 Donkey Kong '94 #3 Pokemon Red/Blue #4 Wario Land: Super Mario Land 3 #5 Mega Man IV #6 Mega Man V #7 Super Mario Land 2: 6 Golden Coins #8 Metroid II: Return of Samus #9 Final Fantasy Adventure (w/o a Guide) #10 Gargoyle's Quest #11 Mega Man: Dr. Wily's Revenge #12 Kirby's Dream Land 2 #13 Tetris #14 Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles III: Radical Rescue #15 Ninja Gaiden Shadow
I really enjoyed Wario Land: Super Mario Land 3. It is a great game with funny characters and interesting use of level design. Not just a side scroller
I've had Pokemon: Blue Version since I was 4 and I still play it 15 years later. I remember where everything is to this day. I agree that it should be number one. It's still fun to play.
super mario land 2 was better than 1
Agreed
Everyone knows that….atleast I thought.
Only got an hon mention 😡. I played that more then Gameboy game back in the day
I still remember the day I first saw a Gameboy. My friend was playing Super Mario Land in December, 1989. I thought it was the most amazing thing. A year later I got one of my own with 3 games: Tetris, Castlevania Adventure and Paperboy. Classics!

Jordan Naish how could u not guess those 2 honestly.
anyone notice that the sandshrew at 5:18 was named Gaara? lol
I don't expect it to be in many peoples top 10, but Kirby Pinball got me through a lot of road trips as a kid.
Pokemon pinball was fun too
Super Mario Land got picked over the sequel??? Have you played SML????
SERIOUSLY!!! SML2 is my 5th favorite Video Game of all time. Great game!
However, SML1... yeah, uhhh, that game sucked.
Sml 2 is the best
No, both are masterpieces in their own right. Super Mario Land 1 made it because it was much more popular in the store.
And I loved 1, too. I do love 2, but I view them equally, tbh.
But SML was so unique. The music so amazing
YES WATCHMOJO IS BACK! I MISSED YOU GUYS!
I can't imagine being part of the group who has to decide on these lists.
There must be bloodshed every single time.
Kirby's Dream Land brings back some memories. Awesome game.
All of you pokemon haters. You won't ever understand the impact it had on kids when it came out in the 90s. Some of us still play at the ages of 21+
Andrew Whalen If you're 21 now you were most def not a teenager when Pokémon came out... you were more like 7, did you really smoke & chase girls at that age?
I have it emulated on my android phone, pokemon for ever!
Still playing it till date. The nostalgia never rubs off. I even imported Pokemon Green for the collection haha :)
I really love the Pokémon series , while Red/Blue aren't the best , there still great and important.
pokemon red/blue is the best pokemon ever made, coz newer ones are garbage.
Really well done video, made me want to go back and play them all!

when your picture is pokemon but its 4th on your list.....
Why did you choose Dream Land 1 over Dream Land 2? The first one was great, but the second one was such a massive improvement and amazing game.
I’m glad Donkey Kong Land III was on the list! That is personally my favorite GB game!
I loved Maru's Mission! It wasn't stellar, but pretty fun with cool bosses.

Glad Castlevania 2 made the honorable mentions. Very overlooked Castlevania game.
Am i the only one who watched this just to see pokemon come out on top? :p
I remember playing those underground game boy cartridges with the button on it,had a lot of top games in one...
I think this #1 deserved a "Was there any doubt?"
You can still change the pallet on the SP
SoftwareAgentsCorp To b/w?
I would just plug mine in and play. For a long time I didn't have batteries in it at all XD
(You could also get a charge cable to have it run without batteries, they come in usb too)
Cool!!

ifacro That is Good point.
It helps to make my point :D
wario blast featuring bomber man was really great, also star wars return of the jedi was cool too.
Man I can't really remember what games I had for the Gameboy but man Pokémon was definitly up there I also remember I had Jurassic Park for it and some Ren and Stempy game those were my games back in the day and loved em lol
So Metroid 2 Return of Samus and Mega Man V on the list. Yey
What's wrong with Metroid 2?
Nothing, I'm just happy that they are on the list.
So long as I had Bo Jackson's Hit & Run and Tetris by my side, I could sit through anything.
You pretty much got all of the games that I loved.
Another game that hooked me was James Bond 007.
Link's Awakening should have been higher. but I'm obscenely biased so...
A true honest man. I'm second that.
Greetings.
Did they forget Pokemon Yellow or what?
Yellow was definitely the best version.
Poketurd, Pokemon sucks. (I never played a Pokemon game in my life though)
Eh... I'm pretty young... eleven right now, but Pokémon blue version was my first Pokémon game... and my favorite.
Yeah, as far as games that played on the original Gameboy, Yellow was the best, of course Silver&Gold were better in most ways, but COLOR only.
Tetris on the Gameboy is also the first video-game to have been played in SPACE!
Love the fact my childhood made the top pick. RIP Red Version.
oh god i miss my gameboy now. after seeing this video, i want to play gameboy all day long just like my childhood times :)
you can always get an emulator on your phone
Or buy one off eBay
Many of those honorable mentions should've been on the list. Particularly gargoyles quest and operation C
Tetris should have been #1
No, Zelda should have been #1
Agree. Tetris is technically the best game ever made and even Pajitnov agreed the Game Boy version was the best one.
I was expecting it
Honestly...Mario Tennis was my favorite in the Gameboy. Pokemon was great, and Tetris is a classic. But Mario Tennis had me not doing my homework haha
Super Mario Land was shit, face it
You are a shit
Jesus Christ Is that you Jesus? Am I dead?
It was the worst Mario game for sure. I kinda hated it everytime I played it but I kept playing cuz it was that or Tetris and I played a lot of Tetris too XD
I agree, Mario Land 2 was way better. Pokemon Red/Blue were also really bad. And Link's Awakening DX is better than the original.
Drew Nichols Perhaps, but it was somewhat enjoyable
Before watching the video: Tetris and Pokemon must be here.
My top 10.
1. Zelda links awakening
2. TMNT fall of the footclan
3. Pokemon Red/Blue
4. WWF superstars
5. Super Mario land
6. Robocop
7. Bubble Bobble
8. Kirbys dream land
9. Bubble ghost
10. Power rangers
If you mention the original Warioland, Never ever forget Warioland 2. It is better. In my opinion.
Pokemon Red and Blue are NO 1 for sure, but Bomberman should have at least made honorable mentions.
Well, at least Gargoyle's Quest had a single clip in the beginning.
10. Gargoyle's Quest (same)
9. Kirby's Dream Land 2
8. Super Mario Land 2
7. Wario Land: Super Mario Land 3 (same)
6. Final Fantasy Adventure (same)

Pokémon an honorable mention??? What did you smoke?!
I'm not big on turn-based battle systems.
LinkMEP Well ok...it's your opinion I guess.
Worst list here. 2/10. Troll.
+SeymourNips
Rude, but at least you admit to being a troll, I find your honesty refreshing.
I remember first getting pokemon as a gift. I played non stop i loved that game and still do. The other ones are fun to like gold silver and ruby etc. You know
There was a Jurassic Park game I used to enjoy a lot in my GBC when I was a kid
+Yoseob Yang Jurassic Park is for GB not for GBC :P and there is Jurassic Park 2, they are ports from the NES games

I still to this day play Pokémon Red before Silver and Gold, and I even play it over its remake, LeafGreen.
totally didn't see that last one coming...
That obvious number 1 though.
Gargoyle’s Quest is the best Gameboy game of all time. Take it from an expert who owned it from the beginning.
I miss Parodius Da!, Megaman 2 and Robocop in this list. And my number one is link's Awakening. ;)
I bet most people came to this list already knowing what #1 was gonna be.
my top picks are
1-paperboy
2-tetris
3-pokemon red/blue
4-pac-man
5-super mario land
6-shanghai
So high video quality does Gameboy have not.
Would have put Wario Land: Super Mario Land 3 at number 1. Will pick that up RIGHT NOW and play it from start to finish. In one sitting.
R-Type, Space Invaders, and Final Fantasy II. I used rechargeable batteries.
Great list, but: "Final Fantasy Legend" is a much better game than "Final Fantasy Adventure". I think it should be in this video instead! ^^
Then Game Boy Advance SP came out and I didn't feel so bad about my classic handheld crapping out.
Wow! how original that name is. 5:17
So I was looking through my brothers closet (which my family uses like a storage closet) and I found a GameBoy! (My dads old one) I also found Super Mario Land, Tetris and golf. Before I found it I always wanted one. So I got lucky I didn’t have to buy one or use a emulator! :)
Kirbys dreamland was a pretty good game the only thing that stood way out is how it sucked not being able to have abilities
Double Dragon on the game boy should be on the list too
Did you know the Gameboy ran 60 frames per second.
NerdQuiz: How many different block types exist in Tetris?
Battletoads, Double Dragon 2, Mario land 2 and the 6 golden coins
Why didn't these make the list?!???
Tecmo Bowl?
Bo Jackson?
Bugs Bunny Crazy Castle 2?
Oh pokemon #1 I still play that
should have been like 10 spot is Pokemon because of the colors. number 9 spot Kirby's dream land cuz it's hard to control.8th spot grand theft auto (gameboy colors) because the graphics aren't that good but number 1 spot should have been neither Tetris or Tony Hawks skateboarding.
I agree with this list but maybe if you added a little bit more Mario if be happy I'm pretty sure super Mario land is epic
my favorite games are legend of zelda, pokémon red, pokemon gold, and paperboy.
Mario Land 2 is infinitely superior to the first one.
Sener, well said.
Zelda Oracle of Ages/Seasons >>>>>>>>
That's bs
@@Isaac-jm2ht so much better
I agree!
Mario Land 2 and Wario Land >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Mario Land
Wario Land is the best because it's a unique concept. ML2 plays like a washed down Mario 3, with some original ideas. (I liked the space levels)
